Food looked good on the internet, but there's no way it's good enough to make up for the rudeness. I honestly thought something was wrong with my phone given the altitude I'm not used to; much to my disappointment, it turned out after driving 20 minutes the frazzled manager says she took the phone off the hook?! In a ski town you know it's going to expensive no matter the taste, but being high priced, impolite and rude is completely too much. Keep driving until you can find a piece of pizza that's been in the warmer for ten hours, or better yet find a Chuckie Cheese and at least have a robotic ape smiling while you eat sub par frozen pizza. read more

Awesome pizza and garlic rolls. The crust is so fluffy and delicious. I just wish we didn't have to ask for things like plates and they brought us one whopping plastic fork and knife to use for the entire table. I noticed a previous reviewer say that he didn't like seeing out of towners be rude to the locals, but we (the out of towners) didn't get a very nice reception when we walked in either. We loved this yummy place! We tried the other pizza place in town and were extremely disappointed! We got ours to go but I wish we could've eaten in the restaurant. It was cozy and warm and a cold beer with the pizza would've been great. I like the atmosphere! The staff was friendly and helpful. They were very informative on pizza size, crust style, etc. we chose an XL cheese and an XL pepperoni on the "thin crust" it was perfect! It's not cardboard thin as you may imagine. We also got a small "The Works" pizza on the regular crust (a bit thicker) and a dozen of the famous "garlic knots" and asked for marinara sauce for dipping. Soooo yummy. I heard great things about this place. As a new part time resident to Angel Fire I have been trying out the area eating establishments. We walked in for lunch one day to a full dinning room. Someone from behind the counter yelled at us across the dinning room that it's carry out only. Yes the dining room was full. Guess he didn't like our looks. I will never spend a penny at this rude establishment. Come on, a sign on the door, let us know when we got the counter. No they think it's better to yell across their dining room and call out potential customers, it was embarrassing. It may be the best pizza in the world. The pizza here is good however my family has been turned away twice now. The first time they turned us down because they said they were too busy even though there were seats available. My husband and I went in last night around 6, and we sat down looking around for a waiter. 20-30 minutes later, no one had spoken to us- we weren't even offered drinks or a menu. There was a family that sat right in front of us that arrived about 10 minutes after we did, and the only reason they received menus was because they were about to sit at a dirty table, and the waiter cleaned off the table as soon as they got there. My husband yelled at the waiter to get his attention, and the waiter just walked off completely ignoring him. That was the absolute poorest service we have ever received. This particular pizzeria has GREAT pizza with 'mediocre staff' (they've always been kind to us) and I don't know about you but I'd rather spend money on something really tasty. Get the garlic knots. They are awesome! We love all the meats. We love the atmosphere because it doesn't feel like you're eating at a resort. There's a lot of reviews on here from some pretty self righteous folks. As someone who lives and works here in this small resort town- we get a lot of those. Being friendly to your waitstaff who is *literally* working 55-60 hours a week so every one on vacation can eat good food quickly really goes a long way. You will not be disappointed with the food here. *You must have your ID for alcohol- New Mexico laws are very strict.* Noticed a review from 3 months ago saying their XL pizza was the size of a standard large. Terrific pizza and the sourdough crust is amazing! Definitely get the garlic knots and extra marina sauce for dipping your crust/knots. I don't get the comments regarding bad service.. Our experience here was so ridiculous that we'll be laughing about this for a LONG time, after leaving none in our party could quiet figure out, "what the heck just happened?" Maybe they get a +1 there, for sarcastic entertainment... We decided to check out this place after numerous people recommended their pizzas, and maybe they are in fact fantastic, but unfortunately we never made it that far. I'd strongly recommend ordering to go; that is if you want to take a risk and trust such an incompetently managed restaurant to safely handle food preparation. Strike one - inside of the place was dirty, food scraps were on the tables and seats and the whole place seemed somewhat unkept; but ok, we let that pass because usually you shouldnt judge these places by their cover, some awesome food comes from "dirtyish" hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Strike two - the guy helping us had NO CLUE how to take orders, nor did he seem to care, he was able to figure out what we wanted only after we practically spelled and gestured the names of the items we wanted several times. Fair enough, maybe he struggles with these things, we figured we'd give him a chance. Strike three - after struggling to get our drink orders in, our waiter returned to check our IDs, their policy is to card everyone supposedly, mind you none of us were youngins, ranging from mid thirties to 60s, not a chance in hell one of us was under 21. One of us didn't have their ID, which meant no beer for him; no restaurant has EVER had a problem with this because common sense and reality is usually a little bit more prevalent. Pity strike four - only one of the beers was available, usually this wouldnt be a big deal but with things heading south fast so we decided we would close our order and move on to another restaurant. We informed the guy that we just really wanted drinks and just to get us the check whenever he gets a chance. Strike out - after Pizza Stop only managed to kind of get us 1/3 of the items ordered so far with sub-half-assed service (not the greatest success rate here folks), what I assume was the owner stomped by and asked us if we were going to order something to eat, to which we stated our intention was just to have a beer and be on our way. At this point the owner angrily grabbed the single succesfully served beer which had 6oz consumed from the table and stated we couldnt just have beer. We offered to pay, which he declined and stomped into the back. Ooooohkaaay, learn to run a business and get your liquor license in order bud. Thanks for the free beer though! read more

Pizza is decent, waitstaff is very nice, but the owners temper is something that I will not tolerate again. Screamed at me -twice-to "get out" of the cooler where the Parmesan cheese was kept- not on the tables where every other pizza joint keeps theirs. Why this place wasn't jam packed, I have no idea. The owner's been crafting pies for over two decades, and you'd never be able to tell pizza baking at high altitudes is difficult. Real cheese, crispy fluffy bread, and well seasoned meats make this a far superior option to the food at the resort. Shuttle service means there's no excuse not to pay this establishment a visit. Be aware they shut down at one o'clock some days after lunch service! Don't get there late cuz then ur gonna have to go back to the resort cafeteria! Yuck! read more

Probably some of the rudest service I have ever witnessed. Not only did it take 45 minutes for anyone to even ask us what we want to drink, but when the guy did show up and we clearly knew what food we were ready to order (after having an hour to contemplate) my friend was told to "shut up, we do drinks then food here". As if that wasn't enough to get up and walk out, another guy in our group mentioned he ordered a different salad dressing than what was given to him, got the (wrong) dressing tossed at him with a "ya well here you go." I get that places get busy. But 2 hours in and We haven't received our food either. Also no excuse to treat paying customers like dirt. Food was disappointing. Would NOT recommend. read more

This is, by FAR, the best pizza in Angel Fire, NM...possibly in the entire state. It is gourmet pizza served in good old fashioned style. You can tell by the taste of the entire pizza, this is made with excellent ingredients and the chef cares so much about the pizza he's crafted for you to enjoy. Excellent thick crust oven fire pizza and their dinner rolls are to die for! Let me preface this by saying that we arrived very late one night (at closing) and not only got away with a delicious pizza for the hungry family.... we also got, not one, but two batches of freshly made amazing garlic rolls while we waited for our to go order. We are from the Chicago area and vacation in Angel Fire all the time. The first place we eat at is the Pizza Stop. My wife and I feel that their pizza is as good as any Chicago Pizza. The prices are fare and the place has a great family atmosphere. The crust (both thin and regular) are particularly tender and flavorful and the garlic rolls are fantastic! . There is no excess grease if sausage is added. Service is always fast. We have eaten there dozens of times and have never had a bad pizza. They are always consistent and crusts are never burned. read more

It's really hard to do business with this place. The owner is flat out rude & the employees seem to be walking on egg shells around him. I can't stress to you enough how rude the owner is. It's really unbelievable. The restaurant is filthy, many years overdue on a good cleaning. I don't know how the health dept keeps this place open. The pizza is good, not great. I've been coming to angel fire every year for about 10 years and we always get pizza stop at least one of the nights we are in town. I love their pizza and haven't experienced anything worth criticizing. The regular crust pizza is like having a delicious breadstick as the crust. Ask for some ranch dressing or marinara sauce to dip your crust in! Their pizza tastes the same every year and you know what to expect. It's a small town so if it's a busy time of the week / year you're going to have to wait longer than usual and it's a resort town so the prices are higher than usual but that should be expected going in. Those are the only items worth noting that are negative. I wish I could give 4.5 stars. read more
