I went with my kid, and though we normally go to SDS in Oxford (which we really like) we thought we would drive an extra 30 minutes to try a new pizza place and support a local business. We read the reviews, and yes, it was very busy in there, and also It wasn't much of a dine-in place, but that didn't matter to us because we were picking up some takeout. Everyone is very nice, but the pizza was bad. The crust was kind of "cardboardy," And the cheese formed a solid chewy plate-like layer over the red sauce. We don't like to give bad reviews, but the food just was not good at all. Even my 12-year-old who is normally crazy for pepperoni pizza just stopped eating it early on. read more

I live in Brookville Indiana. This is the only pizza establishment I will visit in my town. Pizza and bread sticks are beyond delicious and my husband loves the hoagies. Pizza Pete has some really, really good pizza. They have a thinner, more Sicilian style pizza that sort of reminds me of a La Rosa's on a traditional crust. Tons and tons of cheese. Piles of it. And I am a cheese guy, so I get EXTRA cheese on it to boot. The steak hoagy sandwich is top dog though!! I LOVE IT! It's probably one of the best hoagy sandwiches I've ever eaten. It's family run, and the place really gets a lot of local business. They're closed on Monday though because they work through the weekend. There are three minor drawbacks... #1 they do not take credit cards in any form so no debit or check cards either. Cash money. ARGH! I realize it's a family business and all, and I am all about the "coffee can retirement fund" (IRS = I REPRESENT SATAN). But this is 2010, and money is digital. #2 only exists on really busy Friday or Saturday nights at dinner rush. They're on the main drag downtown, so there's no convenient parking - street only. Which means that you might end up walking a block to get there. Not really that big of a deal, and by the looks of a lot of the residents and patrons going in and out of the place - they could use the exercise haha! #3 only affects local residents - Pizza Pete doesn't deliver. Carryout or dine in only. So if you're headed to or from Brookville Lake or any of the other area stuff (Metamora), do yourself a serious favor and save room for a stop in Pizza Pete. Small town pizzeria with fresh tasting ingredients. Everything about the pizza tasted like it was made that day. A tasty tomato sauce with just the right herbs a top a crunchy crust. The cheese was hot, bubbly, and stringy and bubbly ... and after the cooldown provided just the right texture, flavor and bite. But better than any of the food, was the service and staff. Friendly, kind and courteous. This out-of-towner felt more than welcome at this establishment. I walked into the new owners Pete's Pizza and was pleasently suprised to see the new paint and less clutter. This location used to be Tonio's. The pizza was simular to the previous owner's recipe. Pete tells us he was the one to train the previous owner in the art of making these plum tomato pizzas. It's a good pizza, and different from the norm. The only update I would like to see is to have them create a new pizza crust recipe. Some people will love this pizza while others may not. We moved to Brookville in the late 70's and fell in love with the pizza and the steak hoagies with mushroom sauce. The pizza is still our favorite over every pizza place in the tri-state. However the steak hoagies are not quite the same. Very little sauce even when asking for extra. The bread is just not good. Toasting the bun and adding garlic butter more sauce would be a huge improvement.Pizza still the best but Hoagies need an overhaul, especially the hoagie buns. read more

Not a bad pizza. I was excited they had Stromboli so I ordered one. I was pretty disappointed when I got home and found a Steak hoagie wrapped up where my Stromboli should have been. Since I do not eat beef the dog got a nice meal. Place seemed clean, but no one was overly friendly. I do not think anyone made eye contact with me actually.
