This place is amazing. They got pizza, pasta, and many other things I did not try yet. I recommend the spaghetti with sauce

Our final day in Connecticut began with sleeping in. Ahhhhhh, I HEART vacations. And praise the Lord that my 8 month old also decided to sleep in. After snoozing the alarm for the 20th time, we finally got up and since we wanted to hit up the cider making demonstration at B.F. Clyde's by 1pm, a quick lunch was in order. Pizza Palace was a quick and delicious spot for lunch. Food - We ordered a small special ($8.75), which was a 10" pizza with pepperoni, sausage, meatball, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. The crust was thick and similar to Pizza Hut's pan pizza, only much less greasy. How they managed to get the crust so crispy on the outside without making it oily is a mystery to me. The small is large enough to feed 2 or 3, so if you need more food, the large special is $16.90. We also ordered a small Italian combo grinder ($5.95). We asked them to cut it into 4 pieces, and it was almost like having a sushi-sized sandwich (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lHpGGbjFwTwXvyoTaQGKBw?select=IiGO0PN9cnOmxJN9kGI9ZQ). Mr. Owl may have taken 3 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop, but he'd only need a bite or two to get through these pieces. The sandwich itself wasn't anything out of the ordinary but would be a decent option for lunch. They also have Italian specialties, such as spaghetti, ravioli ($6.50), and calzones ($6.95), and seafood, such as fish and chips ($9.45), clam strips ($9.45), and fried scallops ($11.75). Location - the interior was spacious and would be good for groups. We went around lunch time on a Saturday and there were several other customers. Note: Pizza Grotto is right next door and every time we drove by, there wasn't a single car in the parking lot. You almost have to feel bad for it. It's kinda like they're the stinky kid who got caught picking his nose. I found myself strangely sympathetic towards PG, but judging by the lack of customers, make sure you go to Pizza Palace. Service - was incredibly friendly. They were kind enough to cut the small grinder into 4's. We had less than an hour for lunch, and the food came out quickly and we made the cider demo on time. Great spot for a quick pizza or sandwich in Groton.

Mozzarella sticks (comes with six, but I ate one...lol).

The pizza is so greasy! The regular cheese pizza is dripping with grease. It's so bad that the box was soaked...gross.

They have an extensive menu and everything we've ever had was absolutely delicious. We've had pizza, fried clams, salads, and many different sandwiches and grinders. Yesterday we had a small sausage/pepperoni pizza and a Chef's Salad. FYI: the salad is large enough for 3 or 4 people, if you care to share. The ambiance is casual. The restaurant is very clean. There is road parking out front and a smallish private parking lot along the side and in the back. There is a back door entrance if you park in back. There are many good things to say about Ocean Pizza in New London. We highly recommend them. Actually, I can't believe we haven't left a review before. They certainly deserve the 5 stars we're giving them.

Ocean Pizza is one of those rare, family-owned restaurants that immediately makes you feel at home…read morethe moment you walk through the door. There's something special about a place where you can sense the care, history, and pride behind the counter, and this is exactly that kind of spot. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is genuinely personal, and you can tell the staff takes joy in what they do. I ordered a classic pepperoni pizza, and it arrived hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The crust had that perfect, old-school texture you only get from a place that's been doing it right for years. The pepperoni had just the right amount of crisp, and the cheese was melted beautifully--simple, traditional, and incredibly satisfying. We also tried the onion rings, and I have to stop and highlight them: Who is still making onion rings fresh these days? These folks are--and you can taste the difference. Golden, crisp, and not the least bit greasy. It's the kind of side that reminds you why homemade is always worth it. I was dining with friends who ordered the chicken salad and the fish and chips. Both dishes were generously portioned and prepared with the same level of care. The fish and chips in particular drew a lot of praise at our table. If you're anywhere near New London, don't miss this gem. Ocean Pizza is the kind of place that reminds you why family-run restaurants are so treasured--great food, warm people, and a sense of tradition that keeps you wanting to come back. Highly recommended.

I think of myself as a pretty open minded person. When debating with friends about sports,…read morepolitics, current events- I always try to respect everyone else's opinions, allow myself to possibly have my mind changed, or agree to disagree sometimes. That being said- there is one debate where I will not give an inch, will not back down, will not be dissuaded or told I am wrong: Supreme has the best grinders- full stop. Every aspect of every grinder I've ever had from them (that number is probably nearing four digits, since I've been coming here since the early 90's) has been flawless. The fresh bread, the meat, the cheese, the crisp shredded lettuce- all comes together to form THE perfect grinder, every single time. I can't think of a single other restaurant where I've never thought, "Eh, not their best." A supreme grinder will hit the spot day in and day out. The grinders aren't the only place Supreme shines though- the pizza is out of this world. Living in southeastern Connecticut, I'm well aware that I'm spoiled when it comes to pizza. Within a stones throw, there are a half dozen excellent options. When I get that craving, though, Supreme is always my top choice. As good as the meals are, half the fun is going to pick it up. Tim, Nick, and the rest of the staff create a friendly, fun, and vibrant atmosphere where something as simple as picking up lunch makes you feel like you're visiting family. Oh yeah- Don't forget the rice pudding!
