Do not waste your money. NJ is known for pizza but this is not a diamond in the rough. A piece of cardboard with sauce and cheese would have more flavor and structural integrity. I should have known because any pizza place with no Coke Zero, is a red flag. Likewise, the banana peppers on the grandma pie must have survived a nuclear war. I have never seen banana peppers that have lost their yellow dye, and with that so did my appetite. Lastly, the owner acts like his customers are there to give him a root canal.... perhaps he knows his food is garbage and that's why he's miserable. First time in and I could feel the tension between him and the kid working behind the cash register. We had slices of the grandma pizza and regular with pepperoni. The grandma had too much oregano but was otherwise bland. It was also very greasy and the crust was soggy. Went there with the kids for some pepperoni rolls & sausage calzones. Having multiple kids, it's hard to please everyone. Everyone was very happy with their food today! It is unfortunate when restaurants are managed so poorly. I don't want to write a review that rates a place with one star. People work in these places and their jobs depend on restaurants doing well. However when you order food, and drive all the way to these places and trust them, pick up your food. Only to arrive home and see the food is burnt, it's unacceptable. This has been a problem for years and I've actually stopped ordering from here because of it. Figured I'd give it a try again today, and same issue. I don't think I've ever given one star. Sometimes reviewers are just negative people, I'm not one of them. Even though I had a very negative experience, I was considering giving three stars because the place looks clean but after seeing someone else's review which was pretty much the same as mine (1 of only 3) they defiantly deserve 1 star. It is completely a apparent this owner is trying their best to run a cash business so they don't have to pay any tax. My total came out to $7.87. I had six dollars cash on me so I tried to pay with a card credit or debit. They said they're strict policy was a $10 minimum. They don't have an ATM on site and told me to go a mile away to an ATM. I also own a business and process credit card transactions every day. On my transaction it would've cost them approximately $.28. I calmly pleaded with them that I was not going to make a two mile round trip commute to pay two dollars in fees at a ATM in order to buy their pizza. I was going to place an order on my way home from work tonight. I make the call and a female answers the phone and I tell her I want to place an order. I start by ordering the Spring Mix Salad, which is listed on their menu. She proceeds to ask me what kind of dressing I wanted. I advised her the menu said the salad came with raspberry vinaigrette. She says which salad, the tossed? I say no, the Spring Mix Salad and she tells me, in a very rude manor I might add, we don't have that kind of salad. I told her I would call back and hung up. Its one thing to not know your menu, its another thing to be rude to a customer that was going to be purchasing a fair amount of food from your business. This is my go to pizza place only because it's the closest to my house. The pizza is average, nothing special. I do enjoy their cold subs and appetizers. The owner isn't the most friendly person ever but he also hasn't ever been rude to me either. The one thing that bugs me the most is when they tell me that their credit card machine is down. Beware of price adjustments when you go to pay your bill!! I ordered the special and am on a diet so I substituted sautéed vegetables for the side of pasta. When I went to pay I was charged an additional 3.95 for the vegies. I was not informed of this ahead of time as I would have skipped them and just had my salad. I heard after that he is making his own prices up as he goes and doesn't inform the customers until they pay. I used to like the food but will never go back there again!! I stopped by the other day for a few slices and noticed something that didn't dawn on me before. the girl threw my slices in the oven to warm them, then rung me up. while they were warming, she cleaned a few tables and waited on a few more customers. after my slice were warm, placed them on paper plates and handed them to me. I visited Pizza Mia with a very big group on a Sunday. They were nice enough to allow our party of at least 40 to come in 1 hour before their normal opening time. There was only 1 waitress and we were sure that it was going to be a big mess. I have to say that the waitress was awesome. She handled everything very well! She brought out pitchers of water and various types of soft drinks. The food came out in a reasonable time and I thought my pizza was pretty good. The mozzarella sticks were sooo good! The owner is so incredibly rude. My parents live a half a mile down the road so this place is convenient for them. They try to avoid it when they can; however, I wanted to try it when I came to visit. I picked up lunch for my mom and I a few weeks ago and encountered the angry/rude owner my mom warned me about. He was fine while I ordered our 4 slices but once I said I was paying with a debit card, he seemed to get nasty. What's the issue? It's 2017! You get more business with allowing people to pay with their cards! While paying, he was speaking to a man he must have known who was in line to pay behind me. He handed me the receipt and while I was signing he said to the man, "See, I shouldn't accept credit cards because it takes too long."
