What I ordered, not at all what I got
Kaylee B.

Pizza Hut is literally ALWAYS my favorite pizza and even when they get it wrong, the NORMALLY make it right, but not today... So I ordered their deep dish Chicago style pizza. The description said "Layers of your favorite toppings. Sauce on top" Let me tell you, NO LAYERS. Just meat around the edges and a whole bunch of sauce. Then I called and the manager,Jerome, didn't even have the decency to speak to me on the phone. He just said "that's the way it comes" Mind you, this pizza didn't even come with the bacon that was ordered. I am sorely disappointed in not just my food, but the overall lack of customer service. Save yourself the time and money and eat somewhere else

On a quick trip to Laurel, we started out with visits to the Napier Trio of Scotsman, the…read moreMercantile, and the Scent Library, and were ready for some sustenance before tackling the Rusty Chandelier and the rest of the Laurel shopping scene and made our first visit to Mimmo's, and after a delicious lunch, we know it won't be our last. Our little group tried three different entrées and everybody loved what they got. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks, everything was on point and our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Plus the fresh baked bread was a plus.

We ate at Mimmo's two nights in a row while visiting family. The first evening was good -- we had…read morethe lasagna and pizza, and both were enjoyable enough that we decided to return the next night. Unfortunately, the second visit was a very different experience. I ordered the chicken piccata, and it was extremely disappointing. The sauce wasn't bright or balanced as you'd expect from a piccata. Instead, it tasted heavy and starchy, almost like thickened chicken broth, with none of the lemony depth or richness the dish should have. It was not enjoyable. It was also my birthday, which made the experience more frustrating. I let our waitress know that the dish wasn't good, but nothing was done to address it. There was no effort to adjust, replace, or even meaningfully respond, which felt dismissive. Additionally, the night before we had been told that gnocchi could be prepared for us the following evening. When we returned, that was no longer the case, and again there didn't seem to be much acknowledgment of the change. The inconsistency between the two nights was surprising. The restaurant is clearly capable of decent food, but the lack of follow-through and service recovery made the second visit disappointing.

There was some kind of street fair going on, so we parked in the back and walked in from the back door. It was a little confusing, but we four a very sweet server who showed us where to sit. I think her name was Lincoln and she was very sweet. The outdoor area was a little messy, but no big deal. The food was okay. I had a French burger that was a little flat tasting. My husband had the French dip. Again, it was just okay. Cocktails were pretty good. Based on that alone I probably wouldn't go back, but we were limited on choices due to having our dog with us. Here's where it took a turn. We went to our car and there was a very nasty note telling us, "The next time you park here you will be towed." It directed us to go inside to get someone to move their car which was blocking us in. We didn't see any other parking lot and there weren't any no parking signs. I went inside and found our waitress who gave the note to a woman sitting at the bar with papers spread out in front of her. I assume she was the manager or owner. She didn't say a word and sent the waitress to move her car. All of the sudden our sweet server wasn't so sweet. Come to find out, the parking lot entrance was on the side where the street fair was and we couldn't see it. I think that is a pretty nasty way to treat customers. I don't recommend this place at all.

Only one minor issue to start the the staff was prompt and friendly about getting it fixed. They have bumpers available for the kids and the animations between frames keeps them amused if they aren't completely into bowling. There are also an arcade and snack area both of which we skipped since we'd just eaten and we're headed to nap time but they looks clean and well kept. Finally, they offer a very nice "defender" discount for military, LEO, and I think fire/EMS which made the price very reasonable for our family

It's been something like 15-20 years since the old bowling alley at the airport closed. To my further amazement, I discovered this new place was only about a mile from my family's house. So, a couple of evenings later I went to check it out. Going north on Hwy 15, you turn right immediately before the Chevron gas station about 1 mile past the city limits. Then immediately turn right again into the Country Lanes parking lot. Another point of reference is that Country Lanes is directly behind the Dollar General on Hwy 15. Walking in, I noticed a 16 lane house with 4 pool tables and some video games. They serve food here too (burgers and pizza). Also, they advertise that they serve a plate lunch during the week. I got my lane and shoes and began. They use auto scoring here on screens above each lane. I hadn't bowled in a few years so I bowled 4 games that night. I enjoyed my visit but did have two problems. First, I had problems with the ball return. Several times during my stay, my ball would not come back and I had to report it to the desk, Obviously, this slowed things down. Second, the auto scoring did not work properly sometimes. It would show I had knocked down 6 pins on my first roll when I had actually knocked 7 down (or versions of that). Management later explained to me that the cameras that take pictures of the pins were out of synch. Still, it was frustrating that the score wasn't always accurate. Also, near the end of the 3rd game, beginning the 10 frame the scoring stopped working altogether. I was told that this facility opened in late August, so I was surprised that they were having these problems using new equipment. A couple of days later, a family member of mine came there to bowl and told me he had the same problem with the ball return that I had and he was on a different lane. I am going to give an overall score of 3 here because I am so happy tha Laurel has a bowling alley again. I would even give a 4 if I hadn't had those 2 problems. Next time I am in town, I will return and if I experience those same problems, I will have to update this review and give a 2. As happy as I am that bowling has returned, if it doesn't work any better then what is the point of having it? Good luck Country Lanes! I wish you well.
