This is probably the best pizza boss location in Tennessee! The food is great, I would get the founders pizza every time if you like ranch, and their garlic knots are OMG! You get like 20 for a good price. The workers are friendly, and they will offer any advice to anyone who doesn't know what to order. We really enjoyed our pizza carryout from here and hope to dine in with our family soon. We ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and some garlic knots. The pizza traveled well but the knots were steamed to excess in the carryout container and became so chewy that they were inedible by the time we ate. The pizza, however, was fantastic. The crust was tasty and fluffy and the cheese and sauce flavorful. The pepperoni was perfectly crisped and had a slight kick. Aside from A Dopo, this may now be our favorite pizza in the area. I have a special place in my heart for this Pizza Hoss. It's a local chain - after you've been there a few times the servers remember you and treat you well. There is a closer Hoss to me but I always go to the Clinton Highway location. The Pizza is good, it's a tier above the national chains, and their Wednesday medium pizza special is a good value. I like a pizza that has a fluffy crust. We go here once a week and get a "thin" crust which is about the same chew as a local chains, their normal crust is a bit more fluffy - I like both normal & thin honestly. Their bone in wings are on point! Huge wings, with a well cooked, skin is not soggy - perfect. It's close, I like their specialty pizzas, their wings are better than the other local cafe options - way better than any chain. There is better pizza around - but the servers, the wings, the specialty pizza and flavors, I find myself here nearly every week so 4 stars. read more

I tried your new location off of Emory. I am currently visiting my sister and we went to dinner on Wednesday evening, at this cute pizza joint. It was extremely busy for a Wednesday evening but I think that was because it was the night before Thanksgiving and people didn't feel like cooking. We sat at the bar and were taken care of by Storm, the bartender. She was super busy, but somehow managed to handle all the take out orders, along with taking all the bar orders. She even gave a sample of the various beers on tap. We started out with a large pretzel accompanied by craft beer cheese and a honey mustard sauce. It was delicious and hit the spot until our pizza order came. We ordered a thin crust mushroom, sausage pizza. Being from Chicago I wasn't a fan of this pizza. I could tell the ingredients were fresh however the thin crust was so thin it was like eating cardboard. For dessert we had funnel cake fries which were coated in powdered sugar. It was so good. It reminded me of something that I would have at a carnival. It was definitely a treat. I enjoyed the atmosphere they played fun 80's music.The music was a little loud for my taste, I prefer music to remain in the background so that I am able to have a conversation without competing with the music. The bathroom was nice and clean, which is important to me because that means that the establishment is clean as well. The staff was extremely friendly and took care of everyone's needs. There was a constant stream of people from the moment we arrived, until we left. Every single table was taken that is why we sat at the bar. I wasn't sure how long the wait would be until we were seated at a table. I would like to return again to try the hand tossed pizza just to compare the main difference between that and the thin crust. I have not completely written off this cute pizza place. It is convenient since it isn't too far from my sister's house. I might want to try a calzone. It is nice having a variety of pizza, wings, and salads. This is a review of the Pizza Hoss on Emory Road on Saturday at 5:30-6:15. We keep giving them chances and they continue to disappoint. We had a big order (6 pizzas) which we placed on line. After twenty minutes we showed up, checked in, signed our credit card bill, and I tipped the bartender/server (female). We waited and waited, after about thirty minutes I went up to check and they were sitting next to the window. I have no idea how long they had been there. The female bartender/server said they were waiting on the blue cheese...what? Waiting on blue cheese? When we took the pizzas home, a couple were done very well, the others were obviously hastily done. Inconsistent toppings on the pizzas...big clumps of topping on part of the pizza, just cheese on the others. Margarita pizza had very minimal basil. Asked for (and probably paid for) extra tomatoes on one, but there was no evidence of any extra. It should be noted that both bartenders/servers had time to chat up workers, the male was even eating his dinner while our pizzas were getting cold. With Wild Boar Tavern so close, you would think this place would step up their game. Never again, Wild Boar Tavern, you now have our business. read more

Nothing to write home about, but enough to write a review! This is a typical local pizza place. Nothing fancy. Paper plates and plastic utensils. Good space for eating inside, although I noticed a lot of carry out orders while I was there. When I first walked in, I wasn't sure whether to seat myself or wait to be seated. There was no indication anywhere and it took a short time for a waitress to pass by for me to ask. I noticed everyone that had call-in orders went straight to the bar to pick up. I'm not sure if this was because they were all repeat customers or they were told where to go when they ordered. I would suggest signage indicating to "seat yourself," as well as an indicator for carry out orders to be picked up at the bar (even if they're notified when they place their order). For the food...I started with a small cheese bread. It looked better than it tasted, but it was pretty good. I, personally, would've like to had tasted garlic or something else to "pep" it up. The marinara was too tomato-ey for me and just didn't have much of a good flavor for dipping. Garlic butter would've been a good alternative for me. The pizza was your standard pizza. Good amount of toppings, cooked well. Just nothing special or that set it apart from any of the other many pizza places in and around town. The dessert, which I was most looking forward to, was disappointing. The menu says "half-baked" cookie, so I was expecting a gooey, chewy cookie. The cookie in the skillet was baked all the way through. It wasn't bad, just wasn't what I was expecting. The vanilla ice cream had lots of ice crystals throughout it, so it wasn't a good accompaniment to the cookie. I would suggest a thicker cookie in the skillet, baked for a shorter time, and a creamier ice cream (or it could just be a storage issue causing the ice crystals). read more

Bar/restaurant specializing in pizza. Good variety of set pizzas plus a "build your own" option. Service was "okay" although our table's orders came out at different times. Our "Kitchen Sink" pizzas had lots of topping. Their thin crust isn't great, but their regular crust (asked for crispy) was okay. Our Antipasto Salad was a good size, but didn't have much meat in it at all. The "half-baked cookie" was basically a brownie cooked in a skillet and both of them had a burnt taste to them, the Funnel Fries were okay. Family friendly. I've been looking for somewhere that offers a "build your own calzone". This restaurant did not disappoint!!! Hubby had a build your own pizza and it was great as well. After looking at the reviews we had to order the garlic knots and I could have just eaten them! The service was on point. I am always on the search for the best pizza around me. I have eaten here now a handful of times and I fall more in love with this place the more I go. The NY style pizza is awesome!! It's 20 inches, and bigger than any other pizza in the area, still amazed they have boxes large enough for these pizza pies. The regular pizzas are California style and also really enjoyable. I love the BBQ chicken style pizzas. The bone in and boneless wings are both good for starters except I can never decide what sauce I want so I get them naked and then usually get the BBQ, Hot, and Sweet Chili Sauce along with Ranch to dip my wings in. The fried ravioli, and the garlic rolls are some other good apps. They have a bar, and the staff are really friendly. They have live music on occasion so go give them a shot. We stopped here for a late night dinner when we were in the Knoxville area. And we decided to stop on in here. The place on the outside look pretty cool so we went in and this is still a pandemic going on as I write this review unfortunately but the people on the inside did not really seem to care about that. We literally sat right next shoulder to shoulder with people on both sides of me there was no social distancing hardly anybody wore a mask and the service was very very slow unfortunately so why am I giving this place a three instead of a one if the people don't care about social distancing and the waitress And I will say that the food makes up for it because the pizza that we got was excellent it was thin crust which I like and it was very crispy and good and did not fill me all the way up and wasn't real heavy so that was good because he also got an appetizer some cheese ravioli bites and they were good as well. We had a good time the building itself was cool with the wall designs and the TVs I just wish they would've done a little more with the pandemic and I really wish that the waitress would maybe be a little more tentative to the people but that's OK so if they were done at this place I've been a good four but for that I'll give it a three you know it's deafly worth a try if you're in the area read more

My family visited Pizza Hoss In Powell on Sunday February 10, 2019. We wanted to support the Sarah Holmes Memorial Fundraiser. Sarah was a co-founder of Pizza Hoss and passed away from brain cancer February 11th 2018. Pizza Hoss In Powell honored and celebrating her life by donating 100% of proceeds from both Pizza Hoss locations today (Powell and Karns) to Cancer Support Community East Tennessee. They had live music all day with a new musician playing every hour. We order Pepperoni Pizza and Pepperoni Cal zones with the large order of Cinnamon Knots to go. My wife and I tried Pizza Hoss for the 3rd time tonight and figured I should finally write a review about this really good local pizza place. First of all make sure you always order the garlic parmesan crust - worth the $1.25 more. We had it both on the pizza and the calzone. We also had a small side garden salad - it was also good. We typically order the garlic cheese bread (looks like cheese sticks) as an appetizer and take 1/2 home for another meal later in the week. This place now has a bar attached to it. I decided to check it out on a night they had live music. Musicians were great and the atmosphere was very laid back. Lots of TVS for sports fans and a clean eating area. Tried some pizza, I can't currently eat pizza due to my diet but they didn't stop me from trying a slice of the one I bought for my wife. I am a pizza nerd having worked in pizza shops part of my life and I found the pizza above average.
