Ray is great, the food is really good, it is VERY apparent that this is not chain restaurant pizza. This is real pizza from a mom and pop shop, not corporate pizza. The actual restaurant is tiny and has a NY vibe as a result. It's also like stepping back in time. The pizza is surprisingly sturdy for a pan cooked pizza and the slices hold together well during handling. My pizza had ZERO flop. I can see why the crust is a divisive topic. Upon first bite I was turned off a little. I tend to like the crust you get from a brick oven with the "thick" toasted portion on the bottom. However, towards the end of the first slice the crust started to appeal to me. It is somewhere between a piece of toast, a pie crust and a grands flaky biscuit. Due to the unique crust, the eating experience itself is quite enjoyable. If you are someone who thinks Papa John's is good pizza, move on because you won't understand this next part. The ratio of crust cheese and sauce is spot on. Each slice had zero flop, zero cheese slide and when you bite through it, you take a complete bite without pulling any cheese off the rest of the slice. Also, when you fold a slice and take a bite, it doesn't press the toppings out;it is almost like eating a sandwich. I wasn't blown away by the flavor so that is why I'm giving it three stars. Overall though, it's a unique pizza and well above most east side of the metroplex pizzas. Visiting the area for a few days and wanted pizza. One Star for the friendly owner. Pizza was along the lines of frozen pizza. It was bad. We ordered 2 - 10" pizzas with sausage. There was very little cheese on them. Lots of crumbled sausage that tasted weird. The crust was okay, but could have been cooked a little longer. Also the place is a hole in the wall and not in a charming way. 3 tables and junk everywhere. Probably does 95% of his business in takeout tho, so no need for a nice sit down area. But it should still be a little nicer. Went here because of the reviews on Yelp. I guess Dallas doesn't know what good pizza is. Very disappointed. read more

I visited here today with family, we decided to pick this little pizza shop to see what's up, and let me tell you what- it was AMAZING! The man who runs it, named Ray, he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet and his food definitely doesn't disappoint! I love this pizza more than all the other big fancy pizza places because this stuff tastes so fresh, and homemade! Had a sudden craving for pizza to go and were in the vicinity so decided to try Pizza Grand. Small hole in the wall strip center pizza shop. It was late so not busy at all. Went in and the place was dark, greeted at the counter by the owner, nice older gentleman who's been here as the first pizza in Forney for years. Ordered pizza and a salad which were both delicious. Overpriced and overhyped. No problem with service but nothing remarkable, but this was a take out order. I was slightly worried their prices were not clearly listed and the ones I saw looked like they hadn't been updated in a long time. This lead, unsurprisingly, to some sticker shock when I was rung up. I didn't say anything; maybe the pizza is really worth the asking price. After getting the pizza home I will say: it wasn't. The pizza crust was worse than a frozen pizza, which is a very low bar for me as I hate frozen pizza. The sauce was thin and had no flavor. They did use canned mushrooms which is good in a pizza, but it tasted strongly of the canning juices unlike other pizzas I have had that chose canned versus fresh. Sadly this place may have once been good and/or had wonderful memories attached to it, but as a newcomer without that context and with other nearby pizza places, I cannot recommend Pizza Grand. read more

Good thin crust, fresh ingredients, great price, and friendly service. Can't ask for more. I got a veggie pizza which came with bell peppers, mushroom, olive, tomato, and onions. The crust was thin and crispy, almost pie-like. The pizza was easy on cheese and sauce and loaded with veggies. It was almost too healthy for a pizza. And I loved it more for that. I placed an order by the phone for a pickup. I actually feel bad for posting this review because the people are nice. My opinion..... I was excited to try this place because I noticed they have a brick oven instead of the conveyor belt which is awesome. Honestly though all of the ingredients are for sure from a can, the dough is a premade that you would get at Walmart, and the soda was flat and gross. The 7 up was yellow. I thought 7up was supposed to be clear? Inside was very small but that wasn't the problem... The whole place seemed really dirty. The salad was warm as well. I will honestly not ever go back. DO NOT EAT HERE! If I could give this place 0 stars, I would! I went for the first time because they were talking about it in a Forney group on Facebook on how good it was. I looked it up and saw that it had good reviews but I didn't read them. I ordered 2 pizzas over the phone on my way home, he said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I get there 18 minutes later and he said that it wasn't ready and would be another 8 minutes. I said that's fine and took a seat. My husband called and asked if I can order the wings so I got up and asked how long would it take if I ordered them, he said about 10 minutes. I went ahead ordered and sat back down. A minute later I hear him putting something in a microwave, I was thinking to myself, "there's no way he put my wings in there." I didn't say anything but oh how I wish I did. I got home and opened all the boxes and turns out he did in fact put the wings in the microwave. They looked like a slimy blob (it was so disgusting) and the ranch it came with was lame as well. I would rather eat the hidden valley ranch in a bottle from the store. Enough about the wings, the pizza that everyone was talking about was disgusting. The $1 Tostitos pizzas taste better than this, heck the pizza from 7/11 taste better than this mess. I ordered a large cheese and a large pepperoni with 12 wings, $34 in the TRASH! Pizza is good but the prices are inconsistent and not accurate of the photo posted on Yelp and Facebook. The last time we went we were charge over $30 for a small, medium and large pizza; I thought that seemed higher than the menu price but brushed it off. This time around we order a large spinach, mushroom, alfredo which is supposed to be $13.99 (so $15.14 with tax) but we were charge $16.22. I just had Pizza Grand for the first time. We got the Grand Special and the Alfredo Pizza. The pizzas were delicious and fulfilling. Great prize for the size of the pizzas. But the best part of Pizza Grand was the owner Ray. He was so kind and helpful and very sweet. He was patient with our order. He remembered our names and asked details about our lives. Also, not the worst pizza I've ever had but most likely will not be back. Just very average for the price I paid. I agree with another poster about the owner not answering the phone with the business name. I think it's because he also sells used cars and uses that number as well. What a Restaurant should be!!!!!!!!! I have heard excellent things about Pizza Grand since I moved to Forney 8 years ago. There is not enough good things to say about this excellent place to eat. When I walked in I was greeted by Ray (the owner) with " Hello my friend, I am glad to see you tonight". This is greetings you just do not receive in today's corporate, cookie cutter and frozen food template we see too often. With a perfect crust, fresh toppings and excellent service, this will be a weekly staple in our house. I understand now why this pizza place has been in business for 33 years. Ray you have a customer for life!!! If Cheers served Pizza it would be called Pizza Grand. We have now eaten at Pizza Grand at least 1 a week and we are more pleased every time we go.
