This was the first time eating here and I thought it was really good. I had a calzone and my daughter had the kids cheese pizza. The service was pretty good. I thought it was kind of funny the waiter was wearing an applebees apron. They had plenty of tvs to watch the game. We went on a Friday night, and they had plenty of seating and no wait. So if you looking for a quaint little place to eat some pizza or pasta, give them a try

After a visit to show my parents the Cook Museum in Decatur, we made the drive over here to try some pizza. I saw an article about it on al.com a while ago and was eager to try it out. Located at the edge of Hartselle's Main Street, parking is limited to mostly street parking so it can be a tiny bit challenging, but we managed well enough. The restaurant is rectangular shaped and sort of "long," but has regular four-tops and booths. It took a minute for anyone to greet us but we were instructed to choose our own seats. Though they weren't super busy, many of the tables needed some attention/tidying. One waitress saw us eyeing a somewhat dirty booth and she offered to wipe it down for us, which we appreciated. Once we were seated the same waitress took care of us; she was attentive and our food came out in a timely manner. We got fried ravioli for an appetizer and then split an Alfredo pizza. I'm told this is one of the few places in Alabama (esp northern Alabama) where you can get more legit deep dish pizza, but they also offer Neapolitan/thinner crusts, which is what we ordered. A few other appetizers, salads, pastas, and sandwiches are also on the menu. Some of the pastas looked pretty good! There was also a very reasonable sort of "you pick two" deal going on for lunch. The fried ravioli came out very quickly. They were super crispy and hot and had the right amount of gooey cheese. I really enjoyed the slightly sweet, slightly salty red dipping sauce; it was understated but flavorful. As someone who usually is very lukewarm on marinara/tomato based pizza sauces, this was a good one and made me interested in trying a more traditional pizza in the future. As it was, our Alfredo pizza, which was delivered following a moderate lag time after our ravioli, was quite tasty. The crust was a good balance of chewy and crispy; the cheese was hot and bubbly; and the chicken topping was almost shaved into very thin pieces that were slightly crispy. I liked this because I think larger chicken pieces on pizza get gummy sometimes. This was a nice change. The Alfredo sauce was rich but not sickeningly so and complemented the cheese on top well. Quite solid pizza at a reasonable price. There's another location in Guntersville if I remember correctly. I'd recommend giving them a try. I'd return to try another pie or maybe be adventurous and try deep dish.

Customer Service: I loved the fact that you could seat yourself, after walking a few blocks that was a great thing. Server: Very polite, smiled, and was very helpful. She kept an eye on our table and made sure we kept a drink without dizzying around like a bee. Love great customer service. Food: The breadsticks wasn't nothing special, you can buy them at any supermarket, however the pizza and the fried ravioli was to die for. We will definitely keep this pizza place on our must stop by when in the area, and on occasion, just drive to Hartselle because Pizza Ed is there.

The Motor City Madman Detroit style pizza.

Ordered the Detroit style pizza, The Motor City Madman. It was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious! As a native Detroiter I have to say this is the best Detroit style pizza I've had in a long time. A lot of places try but they just don't get it right. Pizza Ed nailed it!

Their Chicago style pizza is the best pizza I have ever tried. I take my food criticism seriously. I love supporting local businesses. Their sauce has a lot of flavor. The crust is fluffy but it has a nice crisp at crust. You know it's good pizza when you get that cheese pull.

Service was a little slow to start. It was about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us but once we were served the service couldn't have been better. This is the best pizza around. The crust is so light and crispy. The fried ravioli was my favorite. I could have made a meal of it. We will definitely go back.

The servers were slow greeting us but more than made up for the wait with attentiveness. The cheesesticks were good. The cheese pizza was reminiscent of Mellow Mushroom. The deep dish stuffed Chicago style was unlike anything we have had outside of Chicago's Giadorno's pizza. Very thick, cheesy, and filling! The restaurant itself is unremarkable, but located on quaint Main Street in downtown Hartselle. read more

Great food & staff. We love Eddie & Chandra and the whole crew. In the 4 short years they've been in Hartselle they've been welcomed like old friends. Fast forward to 23' & they've opened another restaurant in Guntersville. Raise your glass to a institution we didn't realize we needed. Also we have a great venue on Highway 36 coming in from I-65. We welcome our guests coming from all areas. read more

You need to get the hoagie!! Our family came here after traveling from Nashville and everything we had was absolutely delicious. I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad and it was scrumptious. We love pizza! Hubby and I have had pizza all over the country and even the world. Pizza ED is our #1 favorite local pizza joint, hands down! There is magic in their crust! Our favorites are their Spicy Italian and Supreme pies. Just chock full of wonderful fresh toppings. We are thin crust folks, which is why we love their pizza so much. But don't let a thin crust fool you, it has tons of flavor and a wonderfully crispy-chewy texture on the edges. Who thought we'd have world-class pizzas here in North Alabama. Pizza ED is our choice. This restaurant just opened this week. They are having some of the usual "new restaurant kinks" but I'm sure that will work out once they have more experience under their belt. Stumbled upon this gem by accident on our way to Birmingham. What a pleasant surprise. Cool atmosphere, friendly service, and gourmet style pizza at a good price. Had the Greek salad and margarita pizza. Both very tasty! Definitely worth the short side trip off the main highway. read more

fantastic downtown pizza location in old Hartselle. These guys were awesome with breadsticks as soon as we sat down and the pizza was fantastic (I tried both the gluten free and regular crust as a member of my party ordered gluten free and was kind enough to share a slice ). We enjoyed the brick oven style pizza with a perfectly crisp crust and delicious pizza sauce. Having grown up in Hartselle and moved away this is a fantastic and welcome addition to Hartselle's food offerings. My family will make sure to stop here every time we come to town to visit. read more

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in North Alabama. I've eaten Italian in Athens, Decatur, and Huntsville. This place has better food. The pizza is awesome. Even the gluten free pizza is very good. The meat balls are great. We switch between spaghetti and meatballs and the lasagna when not ordering pizza. The negative reviews are from when they first opened. We eat there at least twice a week and always have great service. read more

This place was so awesome. We stopped in here today for lunch and had the lunch special. $7.99 included a one topping personal pizza, a drink, and breadsticks. The breadsticks came out hot and with an olive oil/seasoning dipping sauce. The pizza was perfect. Sometimes when you go to places like this, the pizza isn't that great, but the crust was perfect. Your slice didn't flop all over the place and it had a great taste. Service was also excellent. They had other things on the menu beside pizza and I would love to try some of their other menu options as well. We will definitely be back here. read more

Meh...want to support local biz but the response from order to time of food to table is not very responsive. Been there 4-5 times and it's consistent. Not saying service is slow, but appears the process time for them to make a pizza is the issue. Usually not sensitive to food, but all but once have gotten stomach issues from the food. No gluten allergies or anything, just can't tolerate something in their crust or sauce. Hopefully it'll get better and succeed. read more

Best pizza in town! The crust is fluffy and the toppings are fresh and flavorful. The melted cheese goes for days! The pizza does take a little bit to come out, but they are freshly baked, so not really a surprise. A really fun night out with the family. We really enjoyed our meal. We were not aware that this place existed until we were looking for lunch in downtown Hartselle today. We arrived at 11:30 on a Friday and they were moderately busy. We were seated right away and served delicious soft homemade breadsticks with herb oil dipping sauce. We ordered a 12" chicken Alfredo pizza which arrived promptly and exceeded our expectations. It had tons of cheese! The two of us ate the whole thing. I will definitely return. read more

Great pizza, and good everything else. I've had a little of everything and it's always good. Service has always been quick for me, but some people have complained about the service being slow. This is as close as Hartselle has to a really good sit down restaurant. If you're looking for really good pizza, I 10/10 recommend this place. read more

Our family of 5 stopped here for lunch passing through Alabama on the way to the Florida panhandle. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the restaurant was very clean. The owner stoped by our table to greet us after hearing we were from Ohio, as her husband Ed is as well. Very friendly and definitely worth the short drive from 65, for something so much better than the fast food offered along the interstate. read more

I listened to people tell us how good this pizza was then I checked YELP. The YELP reviews were horrid but we decided to try because we trusted the folks who recommended it. We went at 4:00 on a Tuesday afternoon. Service was great. Everyone was friendly and spoke to us as we entered and as we were leaving. Now about the pizza...it was fabulous. I make my own pizza so I know what making a good pizza takes. This pizza is more like a New York or Chicago pizza. Everything tasted fresh and the crust was really crisp without being greasy. The whole experience was really nice and wholesome. We would recommend it to anyone. read more

Excited to have a cute little pizza shop downtown in our little town. If u are going to just hang out and slowly snack on food, this is a great place for that. However if you are hungry or want prompt service, than take this out your choices. Food is great. The ONLY thing worth about this place is the pizza. Service is horrible, kitchen setup and expediting line is way too small. We went in and they were busy. Ok, but waiting 30 minutes for a table and then another 15 to 20 just to get a drink order. Add to it, I wait 45 minutes and get the wrong pizza and this is after the waitress asked what we had TWICE!!. Total scatter brained. Finally got the right one and had to hunt down for the ticket after we asked for 20 minutes earlier. If they can do take out orders I would be happy. They are going to have to get organized to survive. read more

We each got a medium Shave Ice with a scoop of ice cream (lots of flavors to choose from), shaved ice, flavored syrup (lots of flavors of this as well!), and the "snow cap" (coconut flavored condensed milk topping). It was a little messy but yummy! The medium size was almost more than we could eat! It was a fun experience and an affordable way to be treated to a more unique dessert experience. The next time we're heading home from Birmingham I'll be exiting off I65 for Oliwia's Shave Ice! We're so glad we took a chance!

First and foremost, this place puts Olive Garden to shame. Pizza Ed might be a piece of heaven. Between the delicious calzones, the ambiance, and down to earth owner, named Ed of course, this place is exactly what this town needed. I've seen a number of reviews saying the wait time was bad. Our wait time from drink order until the food was at our table was 26 minutes; just enough time to get relax and play a paper football game with your wife of 3 years. The beer was ice cold and you could tell the food was right out of the oven. Our waitress had just enough spunk to go toe-to-toe with my sarcasm. This place is the epitome of the "hometown restaurant" and has the potential to be the best pizza place in Alabama. Oh man! I've been thinking about the pizza I had for 2 days now! We went in at 4:30 on Friday afternoon so we could be eating at our regular dinner time, which worked out great! We started with fried ravioli. They were so good! Only problem was I wanted more! We ordered the Margherita pizza (which was amazing! Only suggestion is to chiffonade the basil) and the Spicy Italian! Where has this been all my life?! It's the pizza dreams are made from. The other people in our party were all happy with their pizzas. My nephew said the kids meatball and spaghetti was top notch. Sorry I waited so long to try it but now that we have we will be back so much more often! I'm glad they also order take out! read more

Pizza Ed is wonderful! The moment I walked in, the smell of fresh dough and melted cheese just about made me weak in the knees. The staff were so kind and patient, even when I couldn't decide between pepperoni or veggie (I got both--best decision ever). The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, and the sauce had that homemade tang that reminds me of Sunday dinners long ago. My husband Darrell couldn't stop raving about his meat-lover's slice, and even our picky son Jason went back for seconds. Everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. We'll absolutely be back! If you're anywhere near town, don't you dare skip Pizza Ed. It's a five-star pie paradise! read more

Pizza ED is EXCELLENT, but you probably won't get to read this review as this site takes down good reviews and leaves up poor ones trying to get you to buy into their fraud of "advertising". Don't listen to the whiners on here, because that is all this site is. Give them a try, if you have been and it wasn't perfect, understand we are all humans and if you can't understand that, you are probably better off at McDonalds anyway. We have been their twice. We had great service both times, our servers were eager to please. The first week they opened it was a little slow, but that is usually expected in a small hometown opening. The food was great! The first time we got pizza and the second time stromboli. People are always wanting big chain restaurants to move in, but me, keep the charm of the local business. Pizza ED is great, the food is great. Our family really enjoy eating there. It became wildly popular in just a few days after opening. They stay busy and you have to wait for a table, however it's worth the wait. In the short time Pizza ED has been open the service continues to improve. The food is prepared fresh which means you wait a little for your food. I would recommend trying Pizza ED. read more

We have eaten at Pizza Ed a couple times since they opened. We've been on a Sunday both times, and were there when they opened the doors. We got our food super quick, and it was amazing!! I've tried the pizza and the pasta. Both were good, but the pizza was definitely my favorite!! We will most definitely be back soon!! So glad to have new options in town!! read more

This restaurant is in a great location, with a great wait staff. I throughly enjoyed my time there as well as the food. It's the first pizza joint I've been to that brings you bread while you wait, and then the food is outstanding. I drove an hour to get there, and I will gladly drive an hour again anytime the wife wants to go. Good job Pizza Ed, keep it up! read more

This place is great. The owners go above and beyond to satisfy their customer. Coming into a town that will judge and tear a restaurant apart with criticism, they have stood tall. I am so so super pleased with this new pizza joint the staff is so sweet and we got our good within 10 minutes of being there! Yes they get busy yes you may have to wait but it is well worth it I promise! ED the owner is very very sweet and is always on the floor making sure customers are satisfied! This is the best pizza and calzones I ever had. They opened only about a month ago and I have already been 6 times. The pizza, calzones, and many other dishes are made in a brick oven while the pasta and sandwiches are made in the kitchen. The service is always outstanding and the owners take pride in their business. read more

We have ate at Pixza ED many of times since opening. The service is always welcoming and nice. The food is SPECTACULAR pizza is amazing and not greasy like the normal chain pizza places. I have been twice now and the food is fantastic. I had the chicken parmesan and my husband had pizza. The servers are friendly and they did everything they could to make sure we were taken care of even though the restaurant was slammed! Our favorite place to go for pizza and pasta! The rigatoni alla vodka is simply amazing. Pizza is the best around and the house made crust is great. Great people to serve you too. Oh and the sweet potato fries drizzled in caramel are off the chain! We'll definitely keep going back! read more
