The service was almost as good as the food. And for the service to be as good as the food it would have to include a Shiatsu massage. Cara was absolutely perfect in timing and knowledge. I eat out frequently. On my birthday my wife knew what I needed. Cara was there to deliver the perfect pizza and burrata and it was the best meal I've had in months. Absolutely the best birthday in the best restaurant l McMinnville. After a dozen meals there I can honestly say they're so consistent it's unrealistic but somehow they make it happen every day! That you Cara and chef for the best birthday in as long as I can remember. read more

Pizza Capo - Margaritas, Negronis, spicy salami, and margarita pizza. Best in Oregon. - Pizza Near Me - McMinnville, Oregon

We are so happy we finally had the opportunity to try Pizza Capo after seeing it several months ago while passing through town. We stopped in on a Friday night on our return from the coast. We arrived 30 minutes before they closed (too close for comfort, but we wanted to try), so I asked the host if they could still seat us. And while they weren't enthusiastic (I know I wouldn't be), we got a table and were promptly and warmly welcomed by our server. Even with only half an hour to close, we didn't feel rushed, and they took the time to explain the menu and offered suggestions. My lobster and I split a small arugula salad (which was indeed plenty!). It was simply dressed and packed full of flavor. I don't know why my basic salads at home don't taste this good. He got the sausage calzone, and I ordered the mushroom pizza. Both of our mains were delish. The sausage in the calzone was fennel forward, which we love. The fried sage atop my mushroom pizza was a delightful addition, and I'm not even a big fan of sage. Hey, people grow and change! The space itself is cozy and inviting. We look forward to returning for an earlier dinner so we can try the cocktails and dessert. read more

Delicious food. Excellent service. Good music, casual aesthetic and vibe. What more could you ask for? The food is fresh and bursting with flavor, from the arugula salad to the burrata and focaccia and the Neapolitan style pizza, everything was so very good. And yes, even after having all of that we still made room for dessert. The huckleberry olive oil cake was amazing, so incredibly tasty with the tart berries and the hint of orange. It was simply divine. I love cannolis, but unfortunately the matcha & white chocolate didn't quite do it for me, at least it was beautiful. It's okay though everything else was incredible and I would absolutely return. read more

Seated quickly. In spite of the place being absolutely packed. They found us two seats and we were attended to quickly. Service staff is very friendly and the food was incredible. The pizza with the hot honey sauce and meatballs, oh my God. So fucking good. We are from the Bay Area near San Francisco, but when we do return, this will be on our must do list. Highly highly recommended. read more

Came here on a recommendation and can't say we were disappointed. We got the burrata and focaccia as appetizers and got the mushroom, Margherita, Quattro formaggi, & jabroni pizzas as mains. Everything was delicious! We also enjoyed their espresso martini which was tasty but a bit small. Our waiter was very nice. I enjoyed the cozy ambiance and lighting. Overall it was a bit pricey but the food was worth it. Would come back again. read more

I'm a big fan of thin, wood fired, slightly charred, yeasty crust, Neapolitan pizza, if all the components are high quality and done right, and Pizza Capo definitely delivers. Pizza Capo deserves high praise for pairing solid pizza with well considered, seasonal sides and pretty cocktails. We got a fresh, simple local burrata dish with snap peas, pea puree and local edible flowers. Their saffron rice classic arancini with a fresh, bright tomato sauce was delicious. The setting is masculine, clean and classic: black ceilings, crown molding, and exposed brick. Service was friendly and informative. We were a little disappointed that the wine (by the glass) list had mostly non-local reds: Italian & Washington State being in the lead. As a Pinot fan, being in the middle of the incredible Willamette Valley with so many options for remarkable reds, I would have appreciated a few more local choices. I ordered a balanced Willamette Pinot, but that was the only local red option on offer by the glass. Otherwise, definitely recommend this spot! read more

We have now been here twice and love it. The food is really good. We've had salad and the bread sticks (which are just pizza but still delicious) Because the pizza is wood fired it has such a great flavor. Service is always food. I like the ambiance here, feels for intimate than most pizza spots. read more

Finally made it to Pizza Capo! Brought the entire family for an early dinner on Sunday. We were able to get seated right away. The decor of the place is very nice. Love the natural accents. One thing to note is that the tables are a bit close to each other. So any conversations you have are likely to be overheard. For food we ordered the kids pepperoni, a make your own of pepperoni and meatball, margherita pizza, and the valley special. We also ordered the antipasti plate. It was a ton of food so we could try a lot. The ricotta on the antipasti and the prosciutto were amazing. All pizzas were amazing but our favorite was the margherita. The service was great and really quick. We will return again. read more

The following review is from somebody who has eaten pizza in all of the typical/famous pizza, cities, New York, Chicago, etc. I have friends who live in the area and have loaded this place as having the best pizza that they have had. My natural instinct is to disagree because obviously Chicago in New York have the best pizza, right? The dinner we had was all shared, and so I got to sample quite a few things: The arugula salad The olives The brussels sprouts The Jabroni pizza The spicy salami pizza The ARUGULA SALAD was really nice and definitely a good appetizer for what was to come. 4 stars. The OLIVES were just OK, I think they were done well, but my preference is more to raw and not cooked olives. 2.5 stars. The BRUSSELS SPROUTS were very, very good. These have become a staple at foodie type restaurants and can get boring very quickly, but somehow these guys got it right. 4 stars. The JABRONI PIZZA that I ordered had one modification, I added sausage to it, which I would highly recommend because it was a very nice touch. 4.5 stars. The SPICY SALAMI PIZZA was surprisingly good. I love spice as a general rule, but sometimes I notice it's a little bit overdone, but not this, it was perfect. Just the right amount of spice to balance the flavor out. 4.5 stars. The servers were all very knowledgeable and nice. They actually made it fun to dine, answered all of our questions and gave great recommendations. The ambience is that of your typical nice restaurant, almost fine dining, but yet still approachable. The overall cost for five adults and two kids was surprisingly affordable. Definitely a plus. Overall, I believe this pizza was probably some of the best pizza I've ever had. It was simple and done right without trying to be something it's not, or trying too hard. Sometimes when you want pizza, you just want good pizza and this place is fantastic. 10 out of 10 would recommend. read more

Delicious food, amazing service, nice location! We've never had a meal we didn't love! Don't miss out on this great place!

This is the best pizza place I've ever been to!!! My husband and I have a separate budget just so we can come here once every few months. It's so cozy and rustic inside too. I'm gluten free and the crust is so good my gluten eating husband loves it equally as much!! I highly recommend getting the Jabroni with hot honey and the margarita. Their desserts never disappoint. Everyone is so friendly and the food comes out so quickly! read more

This review is not about the food. It's about the egregious, condescending manner how our bill was handled. Some background. We have been coming to the Willamette Valley to celebrate our wedding anniversary for the past 4 years...this is now our 28th. We live in Bend. The 1st evening for the past 4 years we always celebrated at Pizza Capo...that's how much we enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Not anymore. We will never be back. Last night we had 2 margaritas each, large salad, 2 pizzas and 2 deserts...$146.00 bill. When we reviewed the bill there was an additional $4 charge. When we handed our credit card to the young lady (Manager? Not sure. We did not get her name.) we asked about the $4 charge. She said it was for the Nutella spread for our Bombolini (donut bites that come with a seasonal jam, Nutella and lemon curd spread). When we ordered we advised our waitress we both did not like the seasonal plum jam. Therefore, we asked for additional Nutella as a substitution...which was the $4 charge. Waitress did not tell us it was an additional $4. We voiced to the young lady we requested the Nutella instead of the jam. She said it was an additional $4 . We said it was in lieu of the jam. She insisted the extra Nutella was $4. We said okay, then can we get the seasonal plum jam to go thinking we will give it a try since we paid for it. Then she said that would be an extra $2. What? We paid for the extra Nutella and now you want to charge us for the Plum jam? She said yes, that's our policy. This made no sense to us. You charged us $4 for the Nutella and now you want to charge us another $2 for the jam that was supposed to be included? She said yes, our policy with the most condescending, biggest smile (actually smirk) on her face. We couldn't believe it. Therefore, that extra Nutella would cost $6 with the desert now totaling $19...originally $13, a 46% upcharge for the Nutella. We were in disbelief. I'm not one to write reviews, but this was flat out wrong. That's why I wrote the review. If we can prevent other's dining here that is our goal...the $2 ultimately cost them our business as well as others as we tell local friends here in McMinville and our Social Circle in Bend. read more

When I asked a few locals for food recommendations in McMinnville, Pizza Capo came up every time--and now I know why. This place specializes in wood-fired pizza, and even before dinner hours, the restaurant was already buzzing with people. The staff was incredibly friendly, and you could really taste the freshness in everything--from the dough to the sauce to the toppings. I tried the Spicy Ham with Chili Oil Pizza, which had a subtle Asian-inspired flavor that made it unique and not too heavy. It had more of a kick than I expected, so I ended up ordering a few drinks to cool down--no regrets, though; it was delicious! I also went for one of their weekly seasonal specials: the Asparagus Salad. I was expecting warm grilled asparagus, but it came with bright lemon notes, olive oil, toasted nuts, bread, and what I thought was anchovy. The flavor was salty, tangy, and super refreshing. For dessert, I had to try the Cannoli--made in-house. The shell was crisp, and the filling was thick and creamy, kind of like whipped tofu in texture. It was topped with pistachios and had just a touch of sweetness. If you're not into overly sweet desserts and prefer something rich and mellow, definitely give it a try. A great overall experience. Wood-fired pizza, seasonal sides, and desserts that surprise you--what more can you ask for? Highly recommend stopping by if you're in McMinnville. read more

YUM! Arrived around 4:15 on a Saturday and most tables were occupied. Had great and friendly service. Got the arugula salad and the Jabroni pizza. This meal was so good! Although my wife enjoys pizza, she is not one to generally request it. If it's there, sure, she'll have a slice, but its never high on her list of choice cuisines. After our visit to Pizza Capo on Saturday though, that is likely to change! There was about a 20-minute wait for a table which, again, since we're talking about *pizza*, that's a good sign that great things are to come. Not just anybody can pull off such a patrician presentation of an otherwise plebian provision, but the people behind Pizza Capo apparently know what they're doing. We ended up ordering the Spicy Salami, with the (recommended by our server) addition of some prosciutto, and goat cheese. We were warned against its heat level, but as my wife and I are Capsaicin Champions, it ended up being perfect: deliciously thin, oily, spicy and savory - one of the best pizzas my wife and I have had anywhere, ever! Add to that a Paper Plane (one of my favorite cocktails, and one that is rarely on a menu), a glass of wine, and a prosciutto board (because apparently we hadn't had enough!), and you end up with a meal so fantastic, it has completely changed my wife's opinion of pizza as more than a just a lazy answer to the incessant question of "What's for dinner?"; it can also be one of the finest dining experiences around, when in hands as capable as these! Who's the boss?! Pizza Capo! read more

ALWAYS delicious with friendly service. I love everything about this cute little wood fired pizza place. The decor is fresh, modern and comfortable. I especially love the big copper pizza oven. If you are a person that is always cold ask to sit in the back near the pizza oven. I was pleasantly toasty in a good way. I have tried most of their pizzas. It's hard to choose because I love them all. This night we were celebrating my daughters promotion. We ordered celebratory drinks. I was super excited to see they had a Christmas cocktail in the menu called Candy Cane Martini. It was delicious! The key to getting pleasantly full at capo is to order appetizers first. The pizzas are slightly bigger than a personal size pizza. So if you're hungry 2 people would require 2 pizzas or at least an appetizer and maybe share a salad. Also do not miss seasonal specials. I love how creative the chefs are. My party of 4 chose the following: The Nduja-Roasted Carrots Nduja salami-roasted Even Pull Farm carrots, roasted red and seed onion, shallot, parsley Honey whipped fromage blanc and fennel pollen mint. These carrots were packed with flavor and melted in my mouth. We also ordered a salad to share a large Even Pull Farm Winter Green Salad $14.00 Even Pull Farm chicory mix, anchovy vinaigrette, parmigiano, garlic bread crumbs, and parsley. The garlic bread crumbs were Incredible the dressing was lovely and just the perfect amount. For pizza we ordered My favorite is Jabroni Pizza $24.00 Tomato Sauce, Pepperoni, Garlic, Oregano, Provolone, Mozzarella and finished with fresh Basil and Parmigiano. Delicious, juicy with well thought out ingredients and so much flavor. And a Margherita Pizza $20.00 Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Basil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Parmigiano. Can't go wrong with a Margherita! For dessert we shared a Zuppa Inglese (seasonal) spumoni flavored tiramisu. INCREDIBLE! Not a huge dessert but enough for us all to have a couple bites. read more

Capo is one of our go-to spots in McMinnville and particularly satisfying after a day of wine tastings. They've gotten increasingly busy over time so we've had a bit of a wait as of late. During summers they have outdoor seating as well. Everything we've had has been very good but our usual orders include the traditional arancini, sausage pizza, and margherita pizza. They have rotating valley specials and the peach-za we had yesterday was delish! One downside for this visit was that the crust was quite burnt for both pizzas, and I noticed this for other patrons as well. It's IPNC weekend so they may have been extra busy, but hopefully it'll be better the next time we visit. We'll be back! read more

Wow! I was in the neighborhood and thought I would give it a try! I was greeted and had my order taken by Cara! She was amazing and very knowledgeable with the menu. I was going to be taking it home, so I sat at the bar and had some water while talking with Mac, the bartender. Was great conversation. I gathered some intel since I'm new to the area. The Meatball Pizza was scrumptious. (Side of in-house Chile oil was fantastic) The Risotto Ball is actually called something but I can't remember or pronounce. Haha read more

When people ask me what my favorite restaurant is I say Pizza Capo. Amazing pizza with fresh local ingredients. I either get the valley special (especially if it's peachzza season!) or the meatball. Very nice Italian restaurant. Friendly, knowledgeable service. Menu is well rounded with lots of options. Best gf pizza I've ever eaten!

We went to Pizza Capo on a recommendation from one of the wine shops in town. The pizza was excellent, made in a wood-fired oven. The crust was reminiscent of pizzas we had in Italy, crispy and flavorful. We had the mushroom pizza and one with red sauce, prosciutto, olive and fresh mozzarella. The mushroom was to die for. Service was outstanding. Definitely check this place out when in town. read more

Still great pizza. Thin crust quality toppings. Our favorite in McM. Good service. Family vibes, but cool.

We came here as a "Plan B" after finding, no joke, a wrapped pig's head on the stoop of the restaurant at which we'd planned on dining. I'm very happy that the first place didn't work out! Pizza Capo has a bright and inviting interior, and a good selection of items despite the smallish menu. We opted for burrata and an arugula salad as appetizers, and a sausage pizza and a Margherita pizza as our main courses. The helpful and friendly waitress told us that the burrata didn't come with any sort of bread, so we opted to order some garlic bread. The garlic bread is simply a plain pizza crust topped with garlic and drizzled with olive oil, which worked wonderfully as a delivery device for the burrata. Particularly noteworthy was the freshness, flavor, and HUGE size of the arugula salad. It was delicious. The burrata was lovely as well, thoughtfully garnished with flavorful and light sauce. The pizzas were delicious, too! Perfectly crispy, with a very flavorful crust and very fresh and tasty toppings. Prices were more than reasonable, and service was very prompt. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in McMinnville. read more

Did I just have one of the best artisan pizzas I've ever had? Yup! The chili honey in the meatball pizza was the perfect sweet heat. The classics arancini and prosciutto board were equally good. This is one of the great restaurants making McMinnville a true foodie town. The only issue I had was the acoustics here. Flat brick wall, flat glass shop front, with a flat adjacent wall because a sound cannon. Pipe in some music with the bass booming off the walls and you have a recipe for a difficult conversation. Over all the atmosphere is great but it's really hard to hear the staff and your dinner party. What? Did you say something? No? Ok, I'll end my review here. read more

I love(d) pizza capo until tonight. It's not family friendly establishment for us anyway. At least if you have children under the age of understanding where a melt down is allowed. To have the host say to the mother of her child- have your meltdown out on the sidewalk was completely inappropriate. Sad for us- sad for you. We will go somewhere else. The restaurant inside is really beautiful and a great date night spot. The service was great, our server was very sweet and honest. Now to the point, the food. The garden salad was so fresh and the dressing was perfectly balanced with sweetness and tang. I recommend adding some parmesan (which they charge for). However, the pizza was disappointing. We ordered the cheese bread (basically a cheese pizza) and it was overcooked. We also ordered a Jabroni that was overcooked on top, but under cooked on the bottom. And the we ordered the Quatro Formaggio which was cooked correctly. Overall, it was an average experience. I think they need to add more items to the menu. I wouldn't go back here, considering the inconsistency of their pizza, as it is supposed to be their specialty. read more
