I chose a medium NY-style pizza and was surprised that the cheese tasted different than what I'm used to. The friendly owner, who checked up on our table, offered up some info that they had recently changed to Grande cheese, which is a higher quality pizza cheese that has hype in the foodie community. The crust tasted really fresh and had a nice softness. I also ordered a slice of their Chicago style, and think that this is where this place really stands out. This is not just thick fluffy crust that is being called Chicago crust -- here it's real Chicago crust which is more cakey, bready, buttery than what other places usually claim is Chicago crust. They put the toppings on the bottom and then the sauce, just like you're at Lou Malnati's or another Chicago place. I love that they sell it by the slice(!) for their flavor of the day. This is unusual as you usually have to buy a whole pie for Chicago deep dish crust. Service was excellent, they really take care of you here and want you to be happy. Thank you to Union Pizza Co and Yelp LA West!

The building is rather old and has seen better days. There is a small parking lot in the back or you can park in the spaces dividing Hawthorne Blvd. in the middle of the north and southbound lanes. We arrived a little after 2 and the lot was completely empty. We were afraid the restaurant might be closed but we were just fortunate to come during their downtime. We ordered a large with sausage and mushrooms and sat down at a regular table near the entrance rather than one of the booths that make up most of the dining area. The front counter area was a little dingy but the rest of the dining room with booths and the back entrance area seemed much cleaner. The cook was doing double duty as chef and register person but was very cheerful and friendly. I asked him if this was part of the original business that was down the street years ago and he confirmed that it was. The pizza was ready surprisingly fast since deep dish pizza normally takes about 30 minutes to bake. My wife was pretty happy with the pizza but I felt it wasn't quite as memorable as the pizza served in the original location. The crust didn't taste quite as sweet and the texture, while being similar, seemed different than it was when it was brought out in the black, iron pans that seemed thicker than what they serve now. Still good but not the great quality I remember from the past. I deferred to my wife when rating the pizza but my personal opinion would gravitate more towards a 3 star score so let's compromise and call it a 3 1/2 score. Worth trying but won't transport you back to a happier time when food could be awesome and a bargain at the same time. It was close enough to bring back a good memory or two though.

I ordered online arrived 25 minutes later and waited an additional 5 minutes or so. One thing that I was excited for was the Romano puffs.. these used to be sooo flavorful with lots of garlic. They were NOT as flavorful and just full of oil :/ i was most excited for this...i also ordered the wings in the original flavor and they gave me just plain fried wings :( another dud. The saving grace was the pizza. We ordered the works pizza and it was better than I remember, the crust was nice and crunchy. Will probably try one of the LA locations to see if the Romano puffs are just a miss here .

I had never had pesto pizza before but if I'm ever craving some, I know I would definitely come back here for it. It was fun trying the different cheeses from the cheese board, I think my favorite thing from the cheese board was the bread with the honey and the goat cheese. Also the guy that helped me out was so nice, I didn't get his name unfortunately but he was very attentive ! The place was pretty empty but the vibe was very nice. I would definitely like to come back and try the other pizzas and some of their appetizers.
