This is not just thick fluffy crust that is being called Chicago crust -- here it's real Chicago crust which is more cakey,bready, buttery than what other places usually claim is Chicago crust. They put the toppings on the bottom and then the sauce, just like you're at Lou Malnati's or another Chicago place. I love that they sell it by the slice(!) for their flavor of the day. The cook was doing double duty as chef and register person but was very cheerful and friendly. I asked him if this was part of the original business that was down the street years ago and he confirmed that it was. The pizza was ready surprisingly fast since deep dish pizza normally takes about 30 minutes to bake. My wife was pretty happy with the pizza but I felt it wasn't quite as memorable as the pizza served in the original location. The crust didn't taste quite as sweet and the texture, while being similar, seemed different than it was when it was brought out in the black, iron pans that seemed thicker than what they serve now. Still good but not the great quality I remember from the past. I deferred to my wife when rating the pizza but my personal opinion would gravitate more towards a 3 star score so let's compromise and call it a 3 1/2 score. Worth trying but won't transport you back to a happier time when food could be awesome and a bargain at the same time. It was close enough to bring back a good memory or two though.

If you want a legit NY pie...you can't go wrong with Prime.
