After a sound bath Monday evening my friend and I wanted to hang out and catch up so we walked over to Pitfire pizza. I didn't know what to expect and I wasn't initially in the mood for pizza (but after the pizza came out I quickly changed my mind!). When we rounded the corner I was instantly struck by how awesome the outside seating is, I felt like we're in San Diego where everyone is having fun outside and the atmosphere is just happy! There's a large firepit and large bench tables. I ordered the Margherita pizza with added sausage. It took a while for our pizza to be ready because the restaurant was so busy but that's OK we were deep into our conversation. By the time our piping hot pizza arrived our appetites were in full flare. Immediately I could tell that this was an artisan type pizza, and my first bite was so delicious. The crust is light and fluffy, and all the toppings taste fresh! In the middle of the courtyard they have a little tower set up where you can grab red pepper, olive oil, napkins, and cutlery. I added some red pepper to mine and I loved the spicy kick. The crust was perfect which I dipped in olive oil. Initially I planned to only eat half and save the rest for lunch the next day, but before you know it I was finished with the pizza. Customer service was great. Food was sub par. Parking is meter or parking lot. Don't get the buffalo wings. It was like eating saucy cardboard. The chicken was tough as if it has been reheated. Came here tonight with my spouse for a late dinner. We really like this place, especially the outdoor seating area. It wasn't too crowded, which was perfectly fine with us. We both ordered the Sausage Party Pizza, and all I can say is: delicious! We also ordered an appetizer of Buffalo wings. My spouse had some kind of Spritz drink, and I ordered soda water since they don't carry mineral water. The waiter (the one with the nice tattoos) who took our order was absolutely awesome--friendly, welcoming, and, I have to admit, quite handsome. When I tasted the soda water, I wasn't too thrilled. I assume it's just tap water with carbonation, and I simply can't stand the taste of the tap water here. To me, it tastes like drinking pool water with all the chlorine. I went back to the bar, where another bartender wearing a cowboy hat was working. After I explained the situation, he kindly offered to replace it with a soda instead. Very nice guy and great customer service. When I went inside to refill my drink at the soda fountain, I happened to notice a plate of Buffalo wings sitting on the counter by the open kitchen, waiting to be picked up. I thought, "Great, those must be ours. Our appetizer will be out any second now." We were starving. Well... we waited. And waited. Nothing. After a while, I asked the young lady working the floor about our wings and mentioned that I had seen them sitting at the counter quite some time earlier. She said something about a pasta dish, which left us completely confused. A little later she brought us our pizzas, and I have to say she was very polite throughout the evening. Unfortunately, quite some time after that, our "appetizer" finally arrived--after our pizzas--and by then the wings were already almost cold. When we originally ordered, we had also paid extra for an additional Ranch dipping sauce. When I mentioned it was missing, she came back with it and said, "This one's on the house!" I didn't have the heart to tell her that we had actually already paid for it. As much as I liked her and appreciated how polite she was, I honestly felt the service was a bit disorganized. Saying that as someone who worked professionally as a waiter for years, I think a little more attention to timing and organization would go a long way. That said, the pizza was excellent, the wings still tasted good despite being almost cold, and when you're as hungry as we were, you're willing to overlook a few things. We ended up having a very enjoyable evening, thanks in large part to the great food and the excellent service from the waiter who took our order and the bartender. We'll definitely be back. They have an outdoor patio with plenty of heating lamps if its a cold night as well as an indoor area. Their seasonal items are indicated in a blue font on the menu. Their CO2 stopped working for their fountain drinks, so I chose water. You order first, get a number, find a table, then the food comes to you. Water is self serve as well as the utensils and plates. Majority of the tables had plates already set up on the table. Food ordered: spaghetti with chicken meatballs, garlic knots, brussel sprouts, and a kids pizza. Kids pizza was a decent size, diameter was about 8 inches, light crust, had enough sauce to cheese ratio. Brussel sprouts were delicious and had a nice crisp to it. Garlic knots were gigantic, but I wished there was more sauce that came with it. The portion of the spaghetti is enough for a really hungry person, but if you decide to grab a few other items, its enough to share with another friend. Also, the meatballs were huge! The table we chose wasnt cleaned very well. The plates that we sat at had parmesan cheese sprinkled on it. We ordered the Pineapple Express, their pepperoni and basil pizza (I cannot remember the exact name on the menu), and an order of the boneless ginger chicken wings. Service was fast and friendly, and the space itself was nice with plenty of outdoor seating. The food was good. Not spectacular, but definitely not disappointing. The boneless chicken wings looked beautiful and crispy when they arrived, but ended up being more soft than crispy. The flavor was solid overall, though. The pizza itself was yummy. I do wish it had been a bit crispier, as the bottom of the dough was somewhat soft and the slices were a little floppy. I think this could easily be fixed by requesting the pizza stay in the oven for a few extra minutes. One thing worth mentioning, although it did not affect my overall review, is that there is a bus stop right next to the location where a group of homeless people were camping. The smell was unpleasant. As someone who lives in LA, I recognize this as an unfortunate norm, but it is still worth noting if you are planning a date night or a family outing. read more

Pitfire has THE BEST cauliflower crust pizza. If you're keto or celiac or gluten free , this is the spot!!! My partner usually orders cauliflower, I didn't know he ordered mine as the same. I normally wouldn't have gotten that crust but it was SO GOOD! And maybe it's in my head but it felt healthier, and not as heavy. We got mushroom, and the bee pizza, both were incredible. All the seating is outdoors but there's heaters and a fire and if you bring a jacket you will be fine. Staff is very nice, good selection of beer and wine, fun bar, cool neighborhood spot, good vibes, good crowd, went on a Saturday night and it was moderately busy with people in their 25-45 I'd say. Popped in for a refresher after a 10 mile bike ride. I believe this place has been here for a while as I vaguely remember it. Maybe it's been updated and renovated. Anyhow, they had a bar with beers and margaritas which was just what we needed to cool Off and take a break. The beer selection, limited but what they had was good. The margaritas, blended which wasn't quite ready as the guy told us. I sampled it which was good. It just wasn't fully frozen just yet but fine. They also have pizza of course. But I didn't know that there was pasta as well. Didn't get anything to eat but from what was seen from the other tables. The food did look quite tasty. But the cookie they had was good. It's a pretty big outdoor area with picnics style tables and a massive fire pit. The bar area does have barstool seating. I think there's indoor seating as well but not sure. Pitfire Pizza was disappointing for me. The space itself is nice and has potential, but the food and service both fell short. I ordered the spicy rigatoni ala vodka and added chicken, expecting real pieces of chicken breast or something substantial. Instead it came with pulled chicken that tasted bland and looked like a small scoop that was virtually nonexistent. It did nothing for the dish and made the pasta feel even more mid. My friend ordered the chicken meatball (which should be beef but they don't offer it) with her pasta and it had a strange vegan style taste that did not work at all. I also tried the burrata pizza and it was overloaded with arugula to the point where you could not taste anything else. The service made the experience even worse. Our waiter had an attitude from the start, slammed our food on the table, and acted like he did not want to be there. Overall I would not come back. The food was underwhelming and the service was unpleasant, especially for a place with such a nice environment. read more

Love the pizza, but I didn't know I was going to start loving being profiled too . I'm not going to write a novel about the whole interaction, but I came in to get a pizza. This place has been my go-to for several years longer than this worker has even been there doing the profiling upon entry. I see him side-eyeing me, and not in a way that seems inviting. I cross-reference it to my interactions with others. He proceeds to ask, "Can you help me?" I mean, obviously I'm here for something, right? I tell him no, simply put, because I usually just go up to the counter and ask for Parmesan and red pepper. He asks me again, "Can I help you?" Highly annoyed at this point, I just say, "Yes bro, I would like a pizza." He then tells me that obviously they're closed, and I said, "OK, well I would like to get some red pepper and Parmesan." Let's remember, guys this is something I usually just walk up and do like anything else. I'm a big boy, lol. He stares at me up and down. I guess my bundles of winter clothes were intimidating to his small stature, and I must've been standing over him like David and Goliath. He tells me, "Can you please wait outside?" Outside? In this weather? While there are several different tables dining in? It seemed very odd to me and quite strange that he would make this gesture. He reinforced it by saying it again and putting his little fingers up as if I needed direction. It was more of a shock moment for me because, again, I come to this place pretty often and we always support it. If they're open, I don't go to Domino's; if they're closed, I buy my crushed red pepper and Parmesan from them. He comes back with the condiments, and there shouldn't be any surprise to him. If this is something the restaurant is going to speak about, I called him out on blatant bullshit!!! One thing about California boyyyyyy you mf can be very prejudiced lol. The racism isn't always on the outside layer and written on people's skin. It gets hidden deep down inside and comes out in little smart-ass moments like this. But again, I'm not the one anyone's looking for. I won't be coming to support this place anymore, and I will be letting it be known on social media about this encounter. Truthfully, anyone who knows me or knows Flusso knows it's very unlikely for me to just come out and say something like this. We showed up for a work party and they had tables in a corner sectioned off. They weren't ready for the volume of orders and ordering took about 20 minutes. It's fresh, unique, delicious pizza with an amazing crust every single time.
