Very disappointed. The hype around this place wasn't anything I received from a teriyaki plate combo and a double teriyaki burger with a side of fries. Double Teriyaki burger: Bottom bun was soggy after 5 minutes of sitting in our Togo bag. The meat was overcooked, dry and rough to chew. There was hardly any trace of teriyaki sauce. Not worth buying. Fries: they were just okay. Teriyaki plate combo: So much rice. Lacked teriyaki sauce. Meat was too rough. Chicken was okay. I won't be coming back here again.

This is one of the GOAT, Greatest of all Time sources for Beef Teriyaki because it's moist and tender, not overcooked, tough nor dry. I always ask, just in case, if they could cook the beef as "medium rare" because they're constantly cooking and not necessarily scooping rice and then pre-prepared meats sitting already cooked and possibly drying out on top. There os sometimes a longer wait than anticipated because they're constantly cooking seem to "cook to order" fresh.

FYI, this is a cash-only establishment. If you love charbroiled meats, you've come to the right place! What I Ordered: -Teriyaki Burger $5.65 -Teriyaki Bowl $5.65 I must say, the Teriyaki Burger at Pitburger is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time, and I eat out regularly. You can smell the meat cooking on the grill from a few blocks away. The smell is incredibly satisfying. I know it sounds silly, but it was a lovely aroma. I was surprised by the Teriyaki burger. Many people recommended it, but I wasn't sure what to expect. I imagined a ground beef patty, but instead, it was a sirloin patty! It came on a buttered sesame seed bun with lettuce and mayo. You can add cheese, but I went with the classic. You truly can't go wrong with the Teriyaki Burger. It was hard to take a good picture, but trust me, you HAVE to order it! Since I already ordered the burger, the lady at the counter suggested I try the chicken teriyaki. I ordered a bowl because I just wanted a small portion. It came with a decent amount of rice and chicken teriyaki. I was very full after finishing the burger and chicken bowl, and with tax, it came out to a little over $12, which is a bargain. If you're really hungry, get the large combo of chicken and beef teriyaki. It comes with a buttered roll and a Thousand Island-covered side salad. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. Pitburger is a no-frills, hidden gem in Gardena. You won't be disappointed!

I haven't been here in decades, but it tastes the same and my kids like it. Portions are good I just wish there was more chili on the fries. I appreciate that they serve their plates with a lot of sauce. You can buy extra cups of sauce as well. Their Teri burgers are also really good.

Ordered a chicken dinner plate and a medium chicken bowl. Presentation was already gorgeous as usual and flavor was on point. Yummy char on the chicken and ofc that signature teriyaki sauce. The salad and piece of bread kinda made it like a teriyaki Canes vibe LOL. The service was amazing as well always very helpful and knowledgeable on the menu itself. There's a small lot for parking but nowhere to eat so be prepared to take your food home or to a picnic location!

Teriyaki Burger: Char-grilled teriyaki beef slices on a butter-toasted bun, shredded lettuce, mayo. It works! Delicious!

Pitburger was brought to my attention by my bestie (Hi Aiko M!); she knows I love old-school/landmark spots that serves good eats loved by the community and beyond. Pitburger is a favorite burger stand in the Gardena area that does a GREAT char-grilled teriyaki plates and burgers. For myself, it's that perfect secret teriyaki sauce and delicious char on the meats that keeps me coming back! Also if you love chili fries, they make awesome chili fries! Reminds me of Wienerschnitzel Chili Cheese Fries, but better in quality. This place is an old-school stand or shack, but don't let appearance fool you: the food is GOOD here! The sauce for their teriyaki sauce taste nostalgic to me. It reminds of a spot out in the west side of Long Beach. Yummy . The steak was alittle tough but it was still tasty. also just an fyi . I decided to give this place a try, after waiting for a Gardena freight train slowly go by, I have pass this place numerous times, it's on a corner lot by itself. This a Japanese eatery that serve breakfast and Mexican food, it's a take out only and cash only too, there is room for sitting but now it is occupied by storage and boxes, there is a restroom in the back of this place faceing the parking lot. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate it was loaded with a lettuce salad with a small toasted hambuger bun, my food was delicious.

About 15 parking stalls. It's an adequate space with free street parking available also. Since it's a "to-go-spot", unfortunately, there are no tables or chairs for seating. A lot of people come here to grab their food and go, or just sit in their car and eat like myself. Some people also place phone orders ahead of time, possibly beating the crowd if there is one upon arriving for pick up. This place can get real busy during certain hours. However, it's always about 5-10 min wait for my usual order(s). Never any complaints. They always get it right. And that's why I stay returning. Cash only !!! So bring that paper witchu...

I always order the chicken teriyaki plate. Their meat isn't dry, the portions are fair for their price (it also comes with bread and a small salad), and although they have a small staff they don't leave you waiting too long for food. It's not located in the nicest part of Gardena, but if you look past that, you'll find your newest teriyaki spot. read more

Great food, at great prices. I stop here at least once a week to get Teri burgers. Well cooked lean meat every time. Only cons is the indoor seating area can use a remodel. Also the wait time is always more than 10 more minutes so I suggest calling in your order. read more

Found this place driving through Gardena and by the looks of it, I've been here before lol placed our order: teriyaki chicken plate w/ rice and single teriyaki chicken burger. While we waited, I was surprised by the interior. Half of the tables appear to be old arcade games that are now used as tables. The place is clean but I remember some tables being tagged on but besides that, ok. Food was great! Chicken tasted better than other places I've tried and I ended having the teriyaki steak burger which I thought I didn't order but it's ok because it was delicious! To drink orange bang. I have lived in Gardena on and off, but one of the best things about the South Bay is Pit Burger! Best damn chicken and beef teriyaki around... I always order the chicken teriyaki plate with orange bang! Big portions, awesome grilled bun, sweet teri sauce over flame grilled chicken, lots of steamed rice, and cabbage/thousand salad with a pickle slice on top! They even place the fork inside the box so you dont poke holes in the carryout plastic bag! Classic. I love these mom n pop joints. They've been in business years. Foodie spot! People travel far too eat here. The meat taste home made, like fresh off a BBQ pit from the best BBQ cook you know. It doesn't taste like any other burger joint, nor restaurant. It tastes like someone invited you to a BBQ, and the guy grilling is a BBQ enthusiast! Everyone talks about pit burger. The only place i will eat teriyaki. The meat is lean, sauce magical, and the toast is addicting. Cabbage salad w/ 1000 island is a bonus. Double teri plates are available for those who live large. In a sketchy area, so drop by for lunch. BRING CASH! read more

The Teri Burgers are to die for! They food is always hot and delicious. However, the inside dining area is small and crammed. The place is tagged up. They have old games as tables that don't work. I grew up eating here as a kid, so it gets an extra star for sentimental value. I always got the the beef teriyaki (because that's what my big brother always ordered, and of course, I follow suit) - you get a styrofoam box with thinly sliced grilled beef teriyaki over a lot of white rice, cabbage salad with dressing and a couple pickles, and half a hamburger bun buttered up on the grill. It's cheap, greasy, and filling in all the right ways and especially in my childhood memories. read more

Pitburger is my dads favorite place to eat. He used to take me here all the time and I would ask for an extra bun....(those of you who know) But the place hasnt changed a bit. It still looks like a hole in the wall and hasnt seen any renovations. However people still line up for a teri plate or teri burger on a regualr basis. It's just good food. Simple as that. It has an extremely simple menu and the prices are low. You can eat here and feed your family here and it wont hurt you. I love the Pitburger but never understood the name. Whatever the food rocks! read more

I've been going to PitBurger for the last 30+ years, I started in High School and now as an adult, its a modest place, little or no frills but you go for the Teriyaki, cause its the best. They even have a cash register from the 60's and they only take cash, but I still recommend it 100%. read more

This place brings me back to my little girl days when they sold the classic heide gummy bears to make my day! Now that I've grown this appreciation for food and not candy, I can say this place serves the BEST TERIYAKI in town, hands down!!! I was somewhat surprised by this place. I went expecting a burger patty with sauce or topped with extra meat. I found their teriyaki burger a nice surprise however. The decor and graffiti here makes it a place you'd probably pick up and go but I would definitely go back. read more

Only bad thing, the girl never did bring my orange juice, when I went up to the counter the boss believe was him was kinda rude, seriously?? Not my fault. When I spotted that they had Pumpkin Spice drinks, I knew I needed to try it. I'm a big pumpkin spice girl and won't pass up a PSL drink when I see one. One can get the Pumpkin Spice, hot, iced or iced blended. I got my drink ice blended with regular milk. A small came out to about a little over $6.71 I was slightly surprised since the menu showed a small about a $1 less than that but then I saw that whipped cream was extra. Hmm I'm not a big whipped cream fan and honestly would've skipped it if I knew it was extra. Inspite of the initial sticker shock with slightly higher price, I ended up enjoying my drink. It has a really good pumpkin flavor. It was cool and quite refreshing. It also had a bit of a caffeine kick. The Pumpkin Spice was good and I've got my eye on their Cookie Butter and Fruity Pebbles for a future indulgence.

Served with perfectly cooked white rice, a slice of toasty, buttery bread, and a side of thinly shredded lettuce with a generous dollop of Thousand Island dressing, the meal was a delightful blend of flavors and textures. (I plate serves 2 to be quite honest) Having tried many teriyaki spots across Los Angeles, I can confidently say that Pitburger is the best. The Teryaki is great. I don't have any tolerance for any restaurant that has never had a restroom for their patrons. There is no other public restroom for a great distance and what are patrons supposed to do when they have an emergency. There is no way for patrons to wash their hands before they eat. I would like all restaurants to know that when they don't have a public restroom it appears that the ONLY THING the owners care about is taking in money. Another big sign that the owners do not care about providing good service is their 'CASH ONLY' policy. This really aggravates me because this business does not care that a high percent of people use only credit cards. So, while the food at this place is really good I pass up eating there because I never carry cash and there is no ATM for a great distance. read more

I wasn't too impressed with taste considering it had such high ratings. They give you a lot of food so that's definitely a plus. First time I went I ordered the teriyaki meal, not ordering that again.My daughter ordered a hotdog sausage meal, but she didn't seem too thrilled with her food. With all the hype about teriyaki burger I went back the 2nd time (not ordering that again). I like all kinds of teriyaki sauce, but they're burger (slices of beef) just did not do it for me. I decided to give this place one more try so the 3rd time I ordered their all american burger. The burger is much better than the rest. I'll go back to this place if I'm in mood for a big fat burger. 4 stars for their burger and the rest 3 stars. read more

I grew up down the street on Gardena Blvd. So i grew up on this plave and now that I live in Texas, I miss it so much. I have looked high and low for a place whose teri burgers are as good as this. None exist!!!!!! Whenever I come visit one of my first stops is at Pit burger for a Double Pit Burger, a single just doesn't get the job done. I am so glad they are still in business. This place has been in the same place in Gardena since I was a kid and this was many years ago! The teri plate is my fav! The food is not spectacular but it reminds me of when I was younger and it is refreshing to still this icon! The butter on the toasted bun along with the sauce on the steak is to die for! And their salad/cabbage with their salad dressing just plopped on top is great! I am salivating! The place itself is a small little dive, but again, its all about memories and good times! OK, so you want a teriyaki fix? This is the place to go! It has been a staple in the South Bay - Gardena, for decades. We used to chow on the Teri-burgers after a surf session and mmm! The place hasn't changed since I was a teen -- THANK GOD True the place is a dump, believe me, but it's a diamond in the rough. I used to live right around the corner from this place. Growing up in the 70's and early 80's, this was my absolute favorite place to eat. Their teri and rice plate was always and still is my favorite item to get there. And now that I live 30 miles away, I only make it there every once in a while. I've been ordering the Single and Double Teri Plate since 1969, when I went to Perry Jr. High. This iconic take-out stand in Gardena hasn't changed a bit in 45 years. I still can't figure out what the toasted butter hamburger bun and thousand island dressing on chopped cabbage on the side; has to do with Teriyaki and rice? This place is great. They have the best chili fries in town. They remind me of the chili fries that weinershnitzel had before they changed their formula. The dining area isn't very clean but most people don't who go there don't dine.
