I've had a crazy time getting repairs done on my car the past month. I travel a lot for work, so my…read morecar is very important, but I'm also on a tight budget. One way I try to save money is to supply my own parts for the repairs, which I get from Rockauto.com once a mechanic has supplied part numbers. But most mechanics won't install customer supplied parts for liability reasons and because they'll miss the opportunity to make money off the mark up. For me, I can't afford to spend over $200 when I can buy the identical part online for $55. I was so grateful when I found Jim's Tire and Auto because they were willing to work with the parts I had purchased myself. They also corrected a wrong assessment from Firestone that saved me over $300 in unnecessary repairs! That means they lost money in order to tell me the truth. That is how you make money in the long run, because that is how you win customer loyalty. The shop has been around a long time and is a little run down visually, and may not be in the best part of town for some, which is why I'm deducting a star. It's not a shiny, squeaky-clean place like a brand new Firestone, but they worked with me on my budget, were honest, and their labor prices beat Firestone significantly. I saved a lot of money.
