As soon as I see Taqueria Aguila is popping up at one of my go-to spots, I mark my calendar (yes, I…read morehave an actual paper calendar, very retro.) I love the food, but shout out to the service. Anytime I have a question about a menu item, they excitedly explain. A few times now, based on what I like, I got a suggested combination of plates. The person at the window recently turned me on to their hot chili oil. I thought it would be delicious, of course, but typical to hot oils I've had in the past-nope! It was very spicy, but with a rich nuttiness. Delish. The way they slow cook the meat with love is obvious in the tender, developed flavor. But for me, it's about the sides! I tried the onion, grilled on open flame and seasoned to perfection. I felt like a little rabbit gnawing on goodies straight from the garden. Wild. So good. Definitely give them a follow on Instagram so you can check them out as they travel from kitchen to kitchen across the Lou. (I know adding drinks to y'alls menu might add a wrench into your very well-oiled machine, but if I ever see horchata added to your menu, I will lose my MIND with excitement to try it.)

I devoured four, only two pictured, steak tacos made to have steak and chorizo. These tacos have truly blown me away. The tacos are not huge, the portions are just perfect which allow you to eat a couple and feel normal. The chorizo is some of the most fresh chorizo I have encountered in all of Louisville. The way the blue corn hand made tortilla carries this dish just makes each bite better than the last. It's hard to talk about one thing that really did it with this taco, every ingredient just melodically meshes with the next for an experience only tasting can justify. All the ingredients are just fresh and you can tell, the flavor wouldn't be the way it is if these tacos were made with anything lower quality. I recommend anything from this menu. Definitely a gem to have at MW.

This is a unique restaurant in the heart of La Grange, KY. For those who don't know, La Grange is…read morefamous for being one of the only towns in the US where a CSX mainline freight train track runs right down the center of its Main Street, with up to 20 trains a day. It's a dining experience like no other -- while dining, you may feel the rumble and see the train as it passes in front of the restaurant windows. The food is also worth the trip. American food like grandma used to make with a few fun Mexican or Italian dishes. The menu is entertaining to read too. I personally love their "Half Brown" which is more like 2/3 of a Hot Brown. If you're really hungry, the whole "Haute Brown" will be for you! Save room for dessert though -- all of which are good but my favorite is their Kentucky Bacon pie. The service can be very spotty here. My hubby and I have eaten here frequently. I'm not sure why the service is super and why it can sometimes be agonizingly slow. That's the only reason I gave it a 4 rather than a 5.

Some favorites: the small caboose, the turkey wrap, the Ruben apps, and the burger. The staff is kind and attentive and the food comes out within a reasonable timeframe. They're always gracious to my family and my young children. We feel welcomed every time. Today my son got to see the train go by and I'm certain he'll be happily chattering about it for several days. What a treat. We look forward to seeing yall in May.
