BBQ shack, expected a bit better. Pork was luke warm, concerning but ate it. Felt and know when sent back it just gets flaming hot with a 60 second nuke in microwave. Macaroni salad was good with lots of celery, the fries were iffy. Sweet tea was blah and that should never happen. We haven't been back since 2020 besides last week because of cold food and poor service. Last week the food was very good and fresh, and the service was good. My wife is pregnant so she did not feel like eating inside a restaurant so today June 28, 2025 we decided to do a carry out. Spent about $85 And I asked for a little bit extra barbecue sauce because let's face it, I t's a barbecue place and because it was a carry out had to charge me $.75 a cup, and I said so if I would've eaten in it would be free right she said yes you could have all the barbecue you wanted, just remember back in 2020 we had poor service and poor food and wasn't back for five years once again the food was good, but the service wasn't just because we were carrying out. Everything was EXCELLENT. Especially the baked beans! We ordered the meatloaf, pork sliders, pulled pork, Doc's tator skins! All GREAT!

We were seated around 11:30, just beating the lunchtime crowd that quickly filled the large dining area. We opted for the smoked meatloaf with sides of mashed potatoes and okra, and the Burgoo stew with pan fried cornbread. One refillable soft drink (Coke products) completed the order. The restaurant was clearly short staffed, but the service was still terrific, so the bill came to a very reasonable $28.39 + tip. Both the Burgoo and the bacon wrapped meat loaf were outstanding, with great smoky flavor and just enough heat to make both dishes distinctive. The mashed potatoes cleaned the palate nicely between bites of the meat loaf, and the cornbread complemented the Burgoo equally well. The fried okra was also a nice bite heck, even the dinner rolls were good and fresh! In short, you are going to eat well here. Highly, highly recommended. read more

I had no idea what to expect of this place. I had never been to eat in Brandenburg, but one of the nurses I know recommended this place. The gemtleman they call pops was so sweet and helpful. I had a big order and he graciously allowed us to make separate calls to place the order. He also made sure everyone's names were in their meals. We ordered ribs, chicken, burgers, fries, pulled pork and salad. Everything was great. The pulled pork was cooked well, however I thought the sauce tasted off. That's the only reason for the 4 rating. They even had this bun/biscuit rolls with cinnamon butter that I could've eaten a dozen of. It was so good. The atmosphere is chill. There's a bar and 2 tv's as well as standard seating. Everyone I encountered in the restaurant was nice and seemed like they enjoyed their jobs. Really, I would say I struggled with this rating for a bit. Of all the BBQ restaurants I have eaten, this is a 3 star all day long. That being said, for the Fort Knox area here in KY, it was a solid experience. Not spectacular but solid. The nachos weren't great but the fried pickles and Jalepeno peppers were pretty dang good. For dinner, I had the brisket plate and it was pretty decent. Add in the server who was nice and I say it's great for this area. Dont be afraid of their "spicey" BBQ because tbh, it wasn't spicey at all but it was good. If you're on Fort Knox, it is worth the 15 or so minute drive to have BBQ in my opinion. read more

Really confused as to why this place only had three stars... After a stretch of not very good BBQ, I was nervous to try a place that wasn't highly rated. All do respect to those that rated this place low, but you are wrong. My colleague and I started with the smoked wings. They were excellent. (Especially with the hot bbq sauce). He got the brisket and I got the ribs. Both were fantastic. The ribs were meaty and fell off the bone pretty easily. Great with any of the sauces. The brisket was so juicy and flavorful, you didn't need sauce. Absolutely amazing. The sides were good, not great. I had the beans and the bugaloo (sp). Beans were good and I would get them again. I'd pass on the other stuff and get the sweet potato casserole. It was great. 100% recommend this place. read more

I arrived at 610. Went in, the hostess greeted me & I told her of my order. Seems they misplaced my order & it didn't get made. The lady retook my order & went to make it (I guess). She came back & apoligized. This was at 625. I ask about some sort of discount since I had to wait longer(the reason for calling ahead was to AVOID the wait). She then became rude & condescending & told me there would be no discount for their mishandling of my order. I FINALLY have found decent BBQ close to home. These folks know how to create delicious meats that don't have to be coated in sauce to be edible. There is definitely an Oklahoma/Texas feel to the dishes. The brisket is actually sliced brisket and not some shredded or crumbled meat. True BBQ is about the taste of the meat for me. The flavors and smoke are infused into the different meats and really don't need sauce to give you a delicious bite of food. But...if you're a sauce lover, you're still in the right place. The sauce is wonderful! You can't go wrong with any of the sides. They all taste fresh and homemade. The Smokin' Egg Rolls are a must try. Our waitress recommended we try them with a side of cole slaw & it was perfect. I was a little leery about the combo of egg rolls and BBQ....but boy was I wrong to be. We got 2 of each type on the menu and they were both equally delicious. The ribs....well, they're as close to perfect as I've ever found in the Midwest. They fall off the bones and are as tender as you could imagine. Then there are the rolls! You have to try them. They are another little bite of heaven in this wonderful place. We drive from Southern Indiana (about 45 mins) to get there and would go more often if we could. The only time I've ever been disappointed is when I showed up on a Monday and didn't realize they were closed! It just made me want that bite more, so we drove back the next day. I hope these guys stick around. I can't recommend a place anymore than I do this one. I have seen a couple of reviews about slow/bad service and I hate that. I've never had that issue and have been there many times and taken several friends. I certainly hope that doesn't continue to be a problem because no matter how good the food is, the service will impact them. However, we have never had a single issue. read more

Recommend by several friends, so we decided to give it a shot. Service was SLOW. They were fairly busy, but we just ordered pulled pork with sides. You'd think a barbeque joint would have a large amount of that ready to be served up. Had to wait for dinner rolls, and they were small. As long as it took to get our food, one would think they could have offered more rolls at no additional charge. Their cole slaw was good, but hubby got corn on the cob and said it was tough. When tasked with trying either a potato cake or a haystack it is definitely hard! Both are amazing but overall the bbq potato cake won my heart! We waited three hours for our food that was wrong and cold, our server was all over the place which she was busy but she would go to all here other smaller tables but not come back to us for 30 to 40 minutes and would have to get her attention to even get a refill; as well as only taking half the table orders and would just leave. First the slaw was better than average and a good choice. The brisket sandwich arrived on a fresh non- toasted bun. The brisket was roughly shredded almost shredded. Doc's is very slow on service. Expect an hour wait just for a sandwich when the shack is half full of customers. Quality is inconsistent. Rolls are a bit sweet for the pulled pork sliders, but satisfying with the bbq sauce. The Cole slaw is a good side for the slider or even a hot dog. The brisket sandwich was too fatty and really spongy. Green beans and macaroni salad are both good. Will not return here. read more

While the food was good I cannot help but feel like I totally got ripped off by this place. I was treating some customers to lunch. We ordered take out. 3lbs of pulled pork, 2 quarts of potato salad, 1 quart of macaroni salads, 2 quarts of baked beans. The total was $149!! Are you kidding me! I should have taken them out for steaks and would have paid a lot less. Not wanting to make an issue of it in front of my customer I politely paid and we went on outlet way. I called the restaurant back later to see if there was possibly an error on the bill. The girl on the phone was polite and I gave her the necessary information to look up the appropriate bill. Then she began to itemize the items we purchased. Pulled pork was 11.99 per pound or 12.99 I forget. Each side was 16.99 per quart! Keep in mind we had beans, potato salad and macaroni salad. The buns (which I would expect to come at no additional charge) were $9 or so per package. I'm not one to normally write bad reviews. Once again the food was good, but not $150 good for what we got. Born and raised here and came back for a visit from Alaska. Had the egg rolls as an appetizer, which pretty much filled me up even though I shared with the table. What an amazing, unique take on egg rolls. Highly recommend. For lunch I had the brisket, which is so tender and juicy it melts in your mouth. The flavor was so amazing I didn't want to ruin it with sauce, although I did try some of the spicy barbecue sauce on the side, which accentuated it nicely. Sides included a crispy, crunchy breaded okra and a savory burgoo, both of which I found incredibly satisfying. I also had a side of sweet coleslaw, which reminds me of the slaw my mom made when I was younger. The sweet tea was actual sweet tea, a refreshing change from the lack of sweet tea I'm used to in the north. The portion size was so large, I was able to bring home leftovers for dinner. To top it all off, we received stellar service from Brittany and a warm welcome from owner, Bonnie. I was passing through for work and went to this place three times! The ribs are fall of the bone good. I love sauce on my ribs but when I had these I didn't need to put sauce on them. These were as good as my dads and I've never had ribs that you can eat with a fork like my dads until Doc. The staff was very friendly. Everyone is extremely nice!
