Came here after an event on a weekend evening, and the place was surprisingly empty. The restaurant is comprised of two connecting rooms, with a bar in the entry room. I probably would've left 4 stars for the food, but it just took so incredibly long to receive food even though there were only a couple of tables of customers that we all got very hangry by the time the food came. I was also so annoyed at the waiter for many reasons - barely present even though he had like two tables. I mean the food was the kind of slow where he should have checked in and updated us. - didn't know his wines, and when I asked if I could try two, he said "we don't do that here". What is there not to do? just pour a sip into two glasses! - thirdly, I saw pictures of raw salmon on yelp that I wanted to order. I mistakenly ordered the Salmon a la Parilla which is cooked instead of the Tiradito de Salmon, which is raw. He asked me how I wanted the salmon cooked, and I replied "Isn't it raw?" and he said that he recommended it at least medium well done, and I let it go and said sure. I feel like that would've been a great opportunity to tell me perhaps I was thinking of the other raw salmon dish! Anyway, I didn't like the "creamy" soup-like quinoa that the Salmon a la Parilla came with. The seafood paella was really small, and was presented in a small bowl. This has been one of our local go-to spots for years. Good food, interesting South American wines, nice Pisco -- what could be bad. We were sadly disappointed on Thursday night, though. We have eaten here many times, but the quality of the food has really suffered since our last meal. We have always loved the octopus starters here. It was originally served with avocado and then became a "causa" (a Peruvian layered potato dish), but the octopus was always very tender and flavorful. This time it was almost inedible -- tough and chewy. It seemed like the formerly excellent European octopus was subbed with local raw octopus, and precooked with no knowledge of how to prepare this ingredient. The arroz con mariscos contained more of the same badly prepared octopus, and very overcooked squid -- also tough and rubbery. The texture of the rice was not as it had been in the past either. It really seems that a change in the kitchen has lost their way. We may try once again in the future to see if it was just a badly off night, but I'm not hopeful. read more

We started out with the classic pisco sour and the pisco sour flight. All the flavors were great! Then we got the Empanaditas appetizer. These were delicious, the chicken and beef versions were wonderfully seasoned. The dough was tender and tasty. We got Papa Rellena, Jaleita, and Anticucho de Lomo. All were well made and fresh, especially the Jaleita which had perfectly cooked seafood. The Flan was a perfect ending. We'll definitely come back! read more

He ordered a coke and never got it until I had to ask for the second time. We ended up just getting the correct order packed to-go after maybe 45 minutes or an hour of waiting. The waiter was really nice to us & comped my dad's meal and provided a discount for the rice which we really appreciated... It's a shame the because the food tasted AMAZING. Probably the best Peruvian food I've had in the Bay. I know it's a holiday & the restaurant might be understaffed, but the place wasn't busy at all. I ordered the lomo saltado, and the rice did not taste fresh -- it seemed like it was not made the same day. The portion size was also very small. We ordered the shrimp causa, but it was still frozen inside, so we decided not to eat it. For the ceviche (Pisco Bar ceviche), I specifically requested no mussels and no octopus. Unfortunately, there were still a few pieces of mussels in it, and they did not look fresh. The ceviche was also extremely spicy, even though we asked for very mild spice. In total, we spent $78.30. Despite not eating the shrimp causa, we were still charged, and overall I did not feel satisfied with the quality of the food. We ordered 2 ceviches - both very tasty, and the Arroz Con Mariscos, which was truly excellent. In terms of timeliness, I eat slow, and if you're in a rush, you might find the service slow. Had lunch here on a weekday, not so many people, TV was showing euro cup soccer matches. They have a lot of options on the menu, which I like. I ordered a pina colata to start with, then I tried the grilled beef lion on skewers and a shrimp with avocado salad. I loved the beef skewers, would give it a 5 star, but the salad is just not my cup of tea. The dressing is the house vinaigrette, which is too sweet and I can hardly taste anything else, this makes the salad weird. I can not finish eating the shrimp and the avocado if not with the sauce from the beef skewers. I will give this dish a 3 star. The service is good, I ordered the shrimp salad but the waiter got another salad written down and brought it to me and until then we realized the order is wrong. But he immediately changed it. This was the first Peruvian restaurant I ever been to. I was super excited about eating here. I always hear people talking about Lomo saltado is sooo good . They say it's similar to the Vietnamese dish call Shaking Beef. The restaurant itself is nice and modern looking. The server was excellent. But the dish itself had good flavors but my meat was extremely dry. It does remind me of the shaking beef but not as good. They give a little bit of rice and the stir fry comes with fries and tomato. For 26$ I could of save it and went to a Vietnamese restaurant where they give you filet mignon and more rice for 17$ read more

I'm Into Perú Formerly known as "Sipan Perúvian," Pisco Bar has undergone an ownership/mgmt change sometime in July (according to County records) and is now owned by the same folks who run Puerto 27 in Pacifica. Along with the ownership change comes a new freshly curated menu that focuses more on fresh seafood and ceviches, but still has a lot of the Perúvian standards (e.g., Lomo Saltado, Arroz Chaufa, etc.) that we have come to expect. To go along with this new menu they've also refined their bar menu to focus on different variations of the eponymous Pisco Sour--the official cocktail of Perú!--as well as other Latin cocktails and a decent selection of beers on draught. The Good: *The Serrano Pisco Sour was delicious! It had the right balance of sweet, sour--and you could def taste the serrano without too much of the spiciness. Mind you, I'm no expert on whether it was a proper Pisco, but I do know what's delicious, and this fits the bill. *Really love the ambiance and feel of the place--especially the charming hummingbird mural in the main dining room. *The Empenada app was lip-smackingly good. The crust was tender, flaky and crisp. The Empenadas have three different fillings: beef, chicken and mushroom-spinach filling. While all three were fantastic, I found the beef and the mushroom-spinach to be my favorites. *Paella was fantastic and filled with flavor and fish. One of those dishes where it was incredibly moreish, and I couldn't stop eating it. *Carissa enjoyed her Salmon a la Parilla, and we were both shocked that they actually asked how we wanted the fish cooked?! :-O Medium, please, and it was just right. *All their drinks were not shy on the alcohol. *Outdoor dining *Street parking is a little hinky, but fortunately, the City of Saratoga has a lot of private lots for these businesses along Big Basin Wy. The Meh: *Service was fine but just not overly friendly, which is whatever. I mean, he did his job well but was just missing that verve a great waiter/waitress brings to the table. The Ugly: *While not shy on the alcoholic goodness, the Margarita was not very well-balanced and just not that good. Stay away from this place. This was the 3rd time I went there and it will be the last. They always take extremely long, but this last time we waited for nearly 2 hours and the food did not come at all. We were there for a birthday celebration and it was a disaster. When I finally went to the kitchen to see what was taking so long, I also saw that all of the kitchen staff were working with their bare hands (no gloves!), touching the food with total disregard for basic hygiene, also dropping food on the counters, then picking them up and putting them back on the plates etc... It's a new place and we enjoyed every dish! The service is also attentive. Though it's called Pisco Bar now, the predecessor is another Peruvian restaurant called Sipan. Not sure if they actually changed owner as the receipt still shows Sipan. We ordered 4 items to try and they all tasted great with their own flavors. -Empanadas: This came first and is perfect as a kids' meal. $12 for 3, chicken, beef and mushroom fillings. The wrap is crispy and not overly doughy, the fillings are flavorful and warm and juicy. -Copa de Mariscos Pisco bar: Somehow we thought it's a soup but it's not. It's ceviche at the bottom with fried seafood on top. There are a variety of seafood and I like how they fried them; lightly coated and not overly thick with batter. It's a good and balanced mix with good fried food texture. The ceviche at the bottom is wonderful, not overly acidic. It's the best ceviche we've had so far. -Paella Pisco Bar: calamari ink paella with a piece of fried fish on top and mayo and raw purple onions. The rice is flavorful and it's mixed with octopus, shrimp and mussel seafood inside. It's interesting that they put mayo on top though it of course tastes good with anything. -Chuleta Ahumada: smoked pork chop with pumpkin stew. It's not spicy and great for kids also. The pumpkin stew is so rich and flavorful, the pork chop looks and tasted smoked but the meat is not overly dry. Overall all things tasted great. And we didn't get to dry the beverages. The purple corn drink Chicha Morada looks interesting and it comes in a full size glass. We'll be back next time to try out other dishes. read more

This is a Peruvian restaurant named after their national cocktail. I have visited Peru and wanted to check out the authenticity of their offerings. Their meals and drinks reminded me of the wonderful flavors and dishes I experienced in Peru. Their Pisco Sour was spot on. I ordered their classic as a test, and now want to return to try their other variations. We started with their empanadas: one each of spinach and mushroom, chicken, and beef. The crust was flaky, the filling moist and delicious. The Lomo Saltado was very good, a Peruvian version of a beef stew with french fries. The Aji de Gallina was exactly as I remembered from my travels. It is a creamy chicken dish with the distinctive taste of their aji amarillo, a yellow pepper that is flavorful but not spicy. So delicious!!! Other notes: this restaurant has inside and outside seating. On a Friday night, the traffic along the outside dining was constant, but just became background noise. The service was a bit slow for the one off requests, so try to order everything at the same time. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our dining experience. read more

I'm Peruvian and go back to Peru twice a year to visit family. I always want to support my compatriotas, but this was one of the worst meals of my life. Not just one of the worst Peruvian meals, but worst of everything I've ever eaten. Don't come here. I ordered the bistec a lo pobre, one of my favorites. This was BAD. I ordered my steak medium rare. I received a well done steak that was burned on the edges with a THICK line of fat right down the middle of the steak! The fried plantains were super dry and the fried egg's yolk was barely runny. The dish came with french fries, which I've never seen before, and they were the disgusting flavorless cheap frozen fries that weren't even crispy. We'd ordered an appetizer of empanadas which were just odd. The spinach & cheese one is made with cream cheese??? We don't have cream cheese in Peru. The filling is so small it's barely noticable on the other ones. They were (air?) fried instead of baked which was also odd. This was just bad and a dismal representation of what I consider the best cuisine in the world. I paid $75 for the worst cheapest cut of beef ever (truly the quality of a poor man's steak at a rich man's price). I can't believe they changed that much for horrible food quality. Sorry, but I won't be coming back. If you want even decent Peruvian food, go to any other Peruvian restaurant and avoid this one. read more
