    Pescado a lo macho
    Lexi R.

Decided to give this place a try because I was desperately craving pervade a lo macho. The food was mediocre. A lot of the seafood was unfortunately overcooked. The sauce was okay, decent enough, but definitely falls short when I compare it to other pescado a lo machos I've had. My husband's lomo saltado was overcooked as well, though the flavor of the sauce on this dish was great! The service however was so kind and welcoming! I really wish we loved the food.

I wanted to try Pisco Bar for a while and popped in on a Saturday afternoon when the place was relatively quiet....I chose a Pisco Sour cocktail which I found delicious and delicately sour, ideal for an afternoon. For an appetizer I had the cerviche pisco bar, a large portion, full of sharp tasting fish ... excellent! As a main I took the Paella Pisco Bar, not realising both starter and main took the name of the restaurant until writing this, but worth it. I only ate about half and took a box for home which the waitress was helpful with, for a dessert intended for later I took a packet of Alfajores biscuits which had a had centre ....

We came to Pisco Bar for happy hour and it was lovely! The service was so friendly and prompt, the pisco sours were excellent and beautifully presented, and our appetizers were delicious. They have some GREAT happy hour deals. Definitely worth a visit!

Came here after an event on a weekend evening, and the place was surprisingly empty. The restaurant is comprised of two connecting rooms, with a bar in the entry room. I probably would've left 4 stars for the food, but it just took so incredibly long to receive food even though there were only a couple of tables of customers that we all got very hangry by the time the food came. I was also so annoyed at the waiter for many reasons - barely present even though he had like two tables. I mean the food was the kind of slow where he should have checked in and updated us. - didn't know his wines, and when I asked if I could try two, he said "we don't do that here". What is there not to do? just pour a sip into two glasses! - thirdly, I saw pictures of raw salmon on yelp that I wanted to order. I mistakenly ordered the Salmon a la Parilla which is cooked instead of the Tiradito de Salmon, which is raw. He asked me how I wanted the salmon cooked, and I replied "Isn't it raw?" and he said that he recommended it at least medium well done, and I let it go and said sure. I feel like that would've been a great opportunity to tell me perhaps I was thinking of the other raw salmon dish! Anyway, I didn't like the "creamy" soup-like quinoa that the Salmon a la Parilla came with. The seafood paella was really small, and was presented in a small bowl. By the time we realized we ordered the wrong dish, and the dishes were small, I was like heck no, I'm not waiting another 45 plus minutes to order another dish.

Honestly I don't know what to feel about this place. The dishes my mother & I had were great- EXCEPT for the fact they ran out of rice, so instead of letting us know, they just served my mom UNDERCOOKED rice. Like rice that was mushy yet hard in the middle and for some reason, incredibly salty. We let the waiter know & he brought the dish to the back to attempt to fix it, and then brought it back to our table and told us they ran out of rice and there wasn't anything they could do about it. ????? Maybe provide an alternative starch rather than make someone literally eat UNDERCOOKED rice???? Anyway, I had to give my mom most of my perfectly cooked rice for her to enjoy her Mother's Day meal. Unfortunately, the waiter misheard my father and served the wrong meal. It look the ENTIRE time we were there to remake what he ordered. My mom & I were really hungry since we just hiked so we ate our food. My dad has a low blood sugar issue so he needed sugar from a drink or food. He ordered a coke and never got it until I had to ask for the second time. We ended up just getting the correct order packed to-go after maybe 45 minutes or an hour of waiting. The waiter was really nice to us & comped my dad's meal and provided a discount for the rice which we really appreciated... It's a shame the because the food tasted AMAZING. Probably the best Peruvian food I've had in the Bay. I know it's a holiday & the restaurant might be understaffed, but the place wasn't busy at all. Tables were dirty for a long time, the bathroom lacked proper items, and the speaker's radio static kept going off. I really think this place could do SO much better for their customers. Lomo Saltado: flavor was a 10/10- except I only had a little bit of rice so overall 7/10 Seco de Res: 5/10- undercooked rice, good flavors Yuca w/ aji sauce: 10/10 favorite Ceviche Clasico: 10/10 but small portion CaipiCuzco drink: soooooo good 10/10 very little alcohol but just enough Pina Colada: 10/10

If this is the standard for authentic Peruvian food then we're moving to Peru! Our first time and loved it!! The sweet ceviche is a must try and the beef was amazing!! Wonderful service. Highly recommend.

Friendly wait staff and very nice menu selection Stopped in after a hike in Sanborn county park. Ordered a draft and the ensalada de Palta y Cameron's. The salad was very refreshing and I enjoyed the slightly sweet and tangy dressing. I grabbed a table street side. Lovely experience. This place is a hit

The pastor one and seabass ones are some of my other favs. I typically get 1 super taco and 2 regular tacos and that's filling enough for me. I like the super taco because it comes with avocado and pico! It also comes with cheese and beans whereas the normal one only comes with cilantro and onion. I usually ask for no beans tho. We've also tried the steak nachos before too, and while they are good, I probably wouldn't get them again because it's chips overload after already eating the complimentary chips. I've also tried the caesar salad with chicken before, and it's solid but you're probably not coming to a mexican spot to eat a caesar salad. The service is pretty quick too which is nice.

You order at the counter and then find a table. I decided to try the chicken nachos--hard to go wrong with nachos, right? After ordering, I found a seat and waited. They brought my drink along with a small plate containing just a few chips and some salsa. Not a basket of chips, just a handful on a plate. When the nachos arrived, they were covered in a sauce that I wasn't expecting, and unfortunately it made the chips soggy. The chicken also had a spice blend that tasted off to me and wasn't very enjoyable. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the food and didn't find anything that would make me want to return and try something else.

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!

To eat three of us shared some apps, mains, and desserts. We started with the Mixed greens and heirloom beets salad and Delicata squash, then got the Mushroom pasta and Argentinian steak, and finished with the Molten chocolate bomb and Basque style cheesecake. The starters were good, they just weren't my first choice, there were others on the seafood section that I wanted to try more, but that's a reason to go back. Both entrées were great, the steak was cooked perfectly with the most delicious chimichurri, and I couldn't get enough of the mushroom pasta. I would get either of these again. I was still a little hungry after the food, but that left room for dessert and not leaving the restaurant uncomfortably stuffed. We brought our own bottle of wine but also got cocktails there. I didn't like my cocktail very much, but everyone else liked thiers, and I tried a sip of the martini and really liked that. They did have a pretty massive wine selection, so very easy to find something you'll like. We made fairly last minute reservations the day before we wanted to go, three of us looked and all got different availability options on open table, but luckily it allowed me to book. The only option was the covered outdoor patio on what was a very intense rainy night, but that patio is sturdy and rain resistant. It was filled with heaters and stayed very warm, if I weren't sat right next to the opening I wouldn't have been able to tell it was raining.

The sauce was well proportioned to the pasta and freshly grated Parmesan was a good addition. We LOVED the cucumber salad and highly recommend. It was probably the best thing we ate. We finished with the panda cotta which was very flavorful and had good texture as panda cotta can come too gelatinous and firm or too runny. This was done well with fresh berries on top. All in all we enjoyed our dinner and the service was impeccable. I won't order the steak next time but venture out to another entree like the pork chop.

It's like an unobtainable quest but whenever I have the chance to fill that empty void, I do so by randomly sampling. So what makes a good empanada? To me, I look for a buttery and flaky outer shell. I personally gravitate towards savory fillings which should be moist but not soggy. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. Bae has the recipe down to a T and will make even the toughest eater a fan! The chicken and mushroom empanada was exceptionally delicious- creamy, flavorful, and very tasty. I would have easily grabbed another if we didn't already have plans for our next bite. The traditional beef empanada was good but the raisins totally threw me off. The plump, overly sweet raisins weren't a good combo with the salty olives according to my tastebuds. Again, this was still very doable but I made sure to remove each raisin I came across. The mango tropical shaker was okay, just a little too sweet for me. 5/5 stars for BAE's empanadas. I eagerly look forward to trying the panzerotto [pizza], chorizo, and assorted breakfast empanadas. The parking lot isn't massive, but finding a spot isn't difficult, if my experience is anything to go by. Solo and duo diners are usually seated at normal tables, but large parties have the option of sitting in shoes-off washitsu rooms with tatami mats. The menu is very large, with specific sections condensing their vegetarian & gluten-free offerings. You get a paper menu detailing their specials, and the rest of the menu is accessed through a QR code (which I am personally not a fan of). True to its self-identification as a Japanese fusion tapas spot, the menu ranges from sashimi to soba to risotto korokke to pizza and so on. I recommend eating family-style with a group, as portion sizes are definitely tapas-sized, and trying a little bit of a lot is the best way to experience what Gochi has to offer. Though the atmosphere is great for a date night, the two-seater tables are set up very close to each other, so there won't be much privacy. Most of the dishes I found to be good, but perhaps not exceedingly impressive. The yuzu ceviche was stellar, with fresh fish and a strong citrus flavor, but the accompanying potato chips were a little thick and lacking salt. The sashimi was beautifully presented and fresh, but the pieces were a little smaller than I had expected. The risotto korokke was alright as well; the sauce was great, but the risotto inside was a little bland. Overall, I thought this to be a decently enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is great, the service is good, and the food is varied and interesting. The dishes range from being pretty affordable small dishes to a little too pricey to be worth what you get, so I'd definitely spend a little extra time perusing the menu. I will likely return to try some of the other items in the future.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and it was one of those meals where everyone at the table found something they loved. One dish I was surprisingly impressed by was the Ankimo (steamed monkfish liver in ponzu). I'll admit, the word liver immediately made me hesitant, and if they hadn't told me what it was, I probably would've been less nervous trying it. But I'm really glad I did because it was incredibly buttery, smooth, and rich. It almost melts in your mouth, and I honestly think it would pair perfectly with a bowl of steamed rice. We also ordered the Hiyayakko (cold tofu with ginger & scallions), which was a really refreshing starter. The tofu was silky smooth and delicate, and the ginger, scallions, and soy-based seasoning added just enough flavor without taking away from the freshness of the tofu. It was simple, but really well done. We also ordered the Salmon Mayo Yaki Onigiri. While it was good, I think this is the one dish I'd probably skip next time. The crispy grilled rice ball itself was delicious, but there just wasn't enough salmon mayo on top. It felt like I only got a tiny spoonful, so once that was gone, it was mostly just rice. Since my family couldn't decide, we ended up ordering all three clay pots: the Sake Oyako Meshi (grilled salmon & salmon roe), Unagi Meshi (BBQ freshwater eel), and Tori Soboro Meshi (braised ground chicken). Out of all of them, the Unagi Meshi was easily my favorite. The eel was tender, slightly smoky, and coated in a sweet-savory glaze that soaked into the rice underneath, making every bite incredibly satisfying. The clay pots also gave the rice a nice crispy layer on the bottom, which added even more texture. We also shared two of their signature pizzas: the Mentai Kinoko and the Nasu Curry. I wasn't expecting much since it's pizza at a Japanese restaurant, but they were honestly so good. The crust was paper-thin, crispy, and light, so it didn't leave you feeling heavy afterward. The Mentai Kinoko had a great balance of spicy cod roe, snow crab, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese, while the Nasu Curry had a rich curry flavor that paired surprisingly well with the eggplant and cheese. Both were huge hits with my family. The restaurant itself has a warm, traditional Japanese atmosphere that makes it feel cozy and inviting. The server was incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain the menu and recommend dishes when we couldn't decide what to order. Their recommendations definitely did not disappoint. My whole family left happy, and it's one of those restaurants where I already know I'll be coming back to try even more of the menu.

Stopped in for a quick happy hour on Wed. The weather dictated that we sit inside, although there…read moreis a lovely front patio dining or sipping area. Originally when they opened, the menu online looked tailored more towards brunch, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Turned out, there were a lot of menu options that fit into HH. Quite a few beverage options, as well, that are lightly discounted 3:30- 5:30pm. We enjoyed the HH menu Sparkling Rose ($12) and the HH ahi tartare served with wonton chips. The Rose was nice, and the ahi was pretty good, but nothing noteworthy. There have been so many restaurants in that location over the last 25 years, starting back at the Chart House, so I suspect a really perfect dining experience might be required to stay around long term. Hopefully, being open all day will help with success, too.

It definitely feels like a place that's designed to be more of an experience spot, especially if you're going for the aesthetic. That said, the food was hit or miss. The menu is big, which normally I like, but it doesn't really work in its favor when not everything is consistently good. Some items were fine, but nothing really stood out enough to make me feel like I'd confidently reorder them. Given the prices and very small tapas-style portion sizes, it just didn't feel worth the gamble overall. Our Lila Latte (ube latte) didn't taste like ube at all. When we arrived and asked about seating, we were told they weren't taking walk-ins. So we went online, made a reservation for 10 minutes later lol. And then got seated right away with that reservation. Their seating system could use a bit of streamlining. Overall, cute setting and decent vibes, but between the price, portion sizes, and inconsistency, I probably wouldn't rush back unless I knew exactly what to order and could guarantee outdoor seating. Chicken dumplings were my favorite dish!
