Went for lunch (my first time) with 6 other friends. Waitress was showing off and took our whole order in her head. Had to come back and clarify sides, etc. When lunch was served, we were a meal short and it was mine. Bad beginning....GREAT END! My husband and I have been here several times without complaint, but it really wasn't busy. However, tonight we brought my dad who was on vacation here and our service was to say the least subpar. We waited an hour to get food when tables after us had received theirs within 20 minutes. It took 10 minutes to get a soda and 15 to get a cocktail...we were upset. We never saw our sever....HOWEVER, when management became aware of the situation, they were amazing. They did everything they could have to soften our emotions. The food was amazing and drinks were quite good. We gave this four stars because the management really does pride itself with amazing food and ambience. Went to Pirates Cove for a surprise luncheon for a friend's birthday. Her daughter called from NY to arrange everything. The owner Faith was very accommodating, even phoned the friends daughter when we sang Happy Birthday. Everything went off without a hitch. Services was great, food was delicious. Been here quite a few times over the past 20 years. Ate here this week. Very , very busy with large parties inside. Our waiter was extremely overworked bu,did a good job even thought it took longer than usual to get drinks and place the order. Former servers and bartender so we have a lot of patience and empathy. Food was delicious, bar was slow and the manager on duty was awful. I am not sure what his issue was but he was frantic, nervous and loud. This will be our third winter in the Manatee Pocket area and our 1st time having lunch at Pirates Loft. It won't be our last Just as Mariner Cay where we live is a hidden gem, so is the Pirates Loft at Pirates Cove resort and marina. The food was delicious. We both had shrimp dishes, mine stuffed shrimp with lump crabmeat and my husbands the Caribbean salad with shrimp. The view of the Pocket and the Marina and sport fishing boats is a CT boaters dream. Not being a huge commercial restaurant it was a truly relaxing dining experience. All who served us were so welcoming. Look forward to bringing visiting family here. Wednesday, 4-15-2015 Have been dining there for the past twelve years its our go to restaurant when friends are in town. We eat there after golf at least once a week. last nights dinner was a disaster! Fried New England fish dinner, horrible. How can a chef cook scallops, shrimp and haddock in a deep fryer until its almost black and serve it to a customer. I would think the waitress would tell the chef she wouldn't take this out of the kitchen. My friends dinner was exactly the same. Any good chef knows fish only take three or four minutes in the fryer and its done. Should be golden not dark brown. I sent it back and ordered a Cobb salad, the chicken in the Cobb salad was also cooked to death, so dry and brittle I couldn't eat it. They offered me a free desert for my trouble, they should have taken the cost of the dinner off of my tab. I refused the desert. Sorry to say its the last meal we will eat there, read more

This is a bit of a different review: This is a review about honesty, ethics, and a bit about food also. My wife and I stopped in for dinner on 4th of July before the fireworks show. We enjoyed great live music, dockside patio seating, and great service. The fish dip (with extra jalapenos) was classically prepared and perfect consistency. Our main entrees were prepared well and tasted great - grouper and scallops. Here's where it gets interesting: upon being presented the check, I reach for my wallet and its gone. Wearing new shorts with shallow pockets, I immediately was concerned. Not just for my wallet and around $400 cash, but for my ID as I was flying back home that next morning. I ran down to the boat and tore the entire boat apart looking for my wallet. Checked the restaurant bathroom where I stopped before being seated. Nothing. I'm in a bit of a pinch. My wife went to the hostess and told her the situation and she said no problem, we can just call in a credit card when we get home.... But let's check lost and found she recommended. Much to my shock (maybe I'm a bit cynical), someone had turned in my wallet. Moreover, all the cash was inside. What a great surprise! I asked who turned it in so I could pay for their dinner but they were unsure who dropped it off at the desk. Came here this evening and sat down at the bar to grab a beer and something to eat. I was greeted after 10 minutes despite being one of 7 people here...I finally got service and the bartender was extremely rude when I ordered a drink, but I still ordered the conch fritters and got a dinner menu, but I decided that I probably should finish my appetizer and get dinner elsewhere. As I type this I am still waiting for my check and I think the bartender may have vanished. This review is not based on the food because the conch fritters were amazing, but simply the service. If you want me to spend 20+ on an entree the service team needs a "come to Jesus" meeting. read more

This is my favorite bar/bar food in the area. Always outstanding service. Tables and chairs in the sand of a working Marina gives it just enough dive even when drinking Champ. I have run through a lot the original menu. By original they have creations that most water front places in the area do not and are executed brilliantly. Dishes to note and that keep me coming back are Thai Firecracker Shrimp, Tempura Wasabi Shrimp, Onion Rings, Fish Tacos, Mahi Rueben, Red Beans and Rice. I like pirates cove for the water front views but the drinks are way over priced for size of cup that have way more ice than actual drink itself. $7.50 for what equated to about 3 ounces of cocktail is excessive compared to other restaurants. This was my second trip there and probably last. We paid an admission on the 4th of July to see fireworks which was fine but they removed every table and chair so none of their guests had a place to sit. we got there early and the show started quite a bit later than scheduled so having to stand the whole time was very disappointing. This place was dead on a Friday night because there was no band which goes to show that no one really goes there for the food. The river view is great but the food is so so. I had the shrimp special with pineapple mango rice. It was just ok. The portion size was small and there was way too much fruit in the rice which was slightly overcooked. My husband had the Seafood Medley which he said was bland. My niece had the hog head snapper which she said was awesome. I tasted it and have to admit it was good. Besides the view, the one bright spot was the service. Our server was excellent. We were visiting family in Stuart and the Loft was close. We won't be back on our next visit. read more

I've only been here once and personally i think the food is alright. I like the option of eating outdoors at the bar or indoors in the restaurant. The food didn't blow me away. New Years Eve out by the Tiki Bar was great. Jupiter Narrows Band was the best and the reason we chose to go here this night. Drinks were cold, served promptly with smiles from all staff. Atmosphere was terrific even though it got chilly. Staff kept the space heaters cranking, crowd wax varied and dancing. Views of marina and fireworks made it a great New Years spot. read more

I went here before the algae bloom in Manatee Pocket, and then, the view was fantastic. The food was also great, which is why we went. The restaurant was clean, the server friendly, the food excellent and the price reasonable. All of this combined made for a really nice afternoon. We came back for dinner as well but the place was too busy so we had a drink and observed. The dance floor was packed with an older crowd...puzzled I am. Just kidding it was exactly what i expected for a Florida dance floor. Ill be back to enjoy this place again for sure. read more

We went to breakfast this morning for my mother-in law for Mother's Day because I have to work tomorrow and was disappointed in the service. We were all going to have bottomless mimosas and blood Mary's and we ordered them, but the server came back and stated we can't do the bottomless because the manager said it is too close to 11. We would probably been fine with it if the server/manager stated this from the beginning, but they didn't. We were not happy, especially since there was a big party inside and the server could have served us a couple of drinks . Not only did that happened, but my brother-in law asked for fruit and he didn't get it. We had to ask us for the fruit. We just wanted a nice breakfast with the family and it turned into a disaster. My wife planned this all week and I feel bad for what happened to her. We were sorta early - had our pick of tables and you'd think the waiters full attention, but not so. I had asked specifically if the fish chowder was RED or WHITE.. he said RED and I ordered it. This was to be my meal. My husband and I usually split - he over orders and I help him out. We were with 4 others. My soup came and it was WHITE. I didn't bother to return it because I didn't want to distract the waiter from brining the rest of the meals - which came out singly. My husband had some sort ot not very memorable fish - just ok. One table member had a grilled chicken over salad - she said it was just ok. The other 2 had a steak - which he enjoyed and a pasta alfredo type dish with shrimp. She enjoyed it. I am big on bread. Bread can make or break a meal. the wrong color soup can be forgiven with a nice crusty buttery chunk of bread. not here, it seemed the bread may have come from a plastic wrapper on a supermarket shelf. The burger was dry and chewy, the fish had a very very strong fishy flavor for grouper, The nachos were disgusting, tasted like they were frozen, thawed and bland. The nonexistent service was equally as bad. Poor management design to have the bartender also serving tables 35 feet from the bar and also try to keep up with drink orders. It took us 45 minutes to order after we had our first round of drinks and actually wen to the bar to ask the bartender\server in 1, to come take our order twice... Bartenders ignored me. We usually pull up here after spending a day on our boat. I'm talking about the downstairs tiki bar. There's a dock and dogs are ok. Went the other day with a party of 8 and the 3 bar maids were in the weeds and couldn't cope with the couple tables and bar patrons they had. I've worked in the service industry a long time and have seen the thousand yard stare bar tenders get when they don't want to or are incapable of handling more work. I usually phased these types of servers out and in this particular case, it was not that busy. Especially for 3 servers, one of which I think was a manager. I gave 2 stars because we've had ok experiences here in the past when we were the only customers in the place. But don't look through your customers like you're afraid. At least say hello and then ignore me. We would have spent at least $300 bucks but went elsewhere. read more

We were there to listen to some music in the bar section. This place is a joke! They are constantly understaffed at the bar, one lady waited for the one floor waitress over an hour for her drink. Numerous people aggravated trying to get someone's attention. And they wonder why people don't spend enough on food and drinks, to pay the bands. We watched one bartender wander around, while no one was ordering at the time, leaving a crap load of empty beer bottles on the bar, never clearing them, leaving them piled up, for quite a while. Service is very slow and inattentive. Maybe if there were more service people, and they looked up to see who needed a drink, the place would make the money it wants to see, instead of blaming everyone else? Slow and steady decline. Food is just OK and when we were in this week there appears to be no management in the restaurant. Severs playing around and talking loudly. Could hear the chef yelling in the back. Service people in during the 12 o'clock lunch hour, seems you would have them in during the morning.
