Merna's is located in an industrial park on Second St, near Breuhol Brewery - a great business helping business partnership. The menu varies, so follow Merna's on Instagram and Facebook. The Hawaiian plate is great - Kalua pork, lomi lomi, rice and haupia. Mochi chicken, Kalua nachos, musubi and Lima poke are all delicious. Together with the brewery, they sometimes have a DJ and/or a live band - even hula dancers at times. There is outdoor seating with canopies, but seats do fill up. Bring your own chairs (and a table, if you prefer) to be on the safe side, especially during events. Overall, great food and outdoor dining experience. I definitely recommend this place. A great small business to support.

Diablo Street, next to the Lumpia and Empanadas stand. I have not tried their funnel cake, but their churros are by far the most tastiest desserts ever! Cinnamon is already mixed in the batter and they top it one more time with cinnamon before they hand it over to the customer. I always tell everyone, the first bite makes you say "Uh-oh" because you really do not want to share with anyone else. For $6.50 for 15 sticks, it is well worth the price. What is not so worth it, is the wait. Hence, the four-star review. If they up the ante and got faster, I would definitely change my tune.

Visit Date: 07/16/26…read more First impressions here from a non-local of the 2026 version of Benicia's seasonal summer farmer's market. Held every Thursday duing summer from 4 until at least 7:30pm. It was a tad smaller than I thought it would be, covering about 2-3 short town blocks. But, they do pack a lot of booths within this space. Come for the great weather & scenery, an easy stroll, small-town bliss, to connect with community, street musicians, people watch and of course to shop. Even if prices for products & produce--organic or otherwise--are likely equivalent to, or even higher than you can find just about anyplace else. Fruit vendors generously offer free samples, a nice touch. I was hoping for a more preferable choice of hot food vendors, such as a baked potato vendor that I heard had been out here in markets past. But, didn't see them and wasn't impressed with the other offerings this time. Also disappointingly, prices at most of the food stalls aren't clearly posted if at all. And when learned, rival those at full-service sit-down restaurants. For those not in the know or visiting for the first time, both parking & entrance to the market are free. However, parking in the lower blocks of 1st St. where the market is held gets kinda tight, especially towards later hours into the event. Smarter move would dictate getting here early when the market first opens. Market is pet-friendly. Unlike the annual large Peddler's Faire event held once a year in downtown Benicia (usually in August), the farmer's market is free of alcohol serving booths. More a family event-atmosphere. But, it wouldn't be hard either for a patron to dip into one of the nearby streetside restaurants to toss back a few, if they were so inclined. They even had a street masseuse booth set up, although I can't comment on pricing. Porta potty set-up's are only at 1 end of the market near the Marina side. So, that's something to think about for us bladder-compromised folks, lol.
