Needed some popcorn for a school movie night event. We were thinking of popping pop corn ourselves, but heard about the popcorn store. It's right by a coffee shop I frequent, so I decided to stop by and ask some questions. They were very friendly and answered my questions. It sounded like the Bin Buster size was the right amount. I was told the only flavor that comes in the Bin Buster size was their gourmet white. They said any other flavor would rip the bag haha. Maybe get a thicker bag? I'm sure there's some people that would like a bin Buster size in another flavor. But then again, maybe not? I'm not a popcorn expert, they are! Anyways, I'm glad we purchased from them rather than popping our own. I feel that popping our own would be too much trouble. I mean, technically theirs was freshly popped as well. They said it takes about an hour to pop enough popcorn to fill up the bin Buster. I arrived at my scheduled time and there was a slight hiccup. They must have forgotten my order, but I saw they were popping a bunch of gourmet white anyways, so they told me it would be a few minutes. It took about 15 minutes more, which was a bit annoying because I had to be at the school at a certain time. I thought I was going to be given some extra popcorn or a discount or something? But nothing. At least I know it was really fresh haha. It was perfectly seasoned too. At first I expected the size to be much bigger. But when I got to the school, it was just right given the estimate. I will be back to try the other pop corn flavors next time. Oh, I'm curious if this place gives samples. I used to buy popcorn from this establishment years ago. Since the new owner bought it (3 yrs ago) the popcorn Isn't as flavorful. The prices in the photos have doubled. The popcorn store used to be filled with sizes from extra small to extra large on all flavors. You now have to call in order to get an extra large of any flavor but the gourmet white. The gourmet white was always my favorite. I don't know what they're doing but the flavor isnt the same. They say they put salt but I don't taste salt. They must be using a different oil because it's very bland - similar to air pop popcorn. I've turned many many friends to this place but can no longer do so. I am so sad. When you first enter the store you hit in the nose by pleasant aromas of popcorn. So many different flavors from the Caramel, Cookies & Cream, Butter Rum and the top seller gourmet white. They even have the pink popcorn that you used to eat when you were a kid. Why in god's' name are you putting multiple petroleum based food colorings on a gourmet popcorn? My favorites included the churro flavor, Cinnabon was like a dessert, the white cheddar with garlic was so savory but for some reason the kernels are broken down to smaller pieces. They gots fresh popped popcorn. The popcorn is hunky sized. Kernels are thoroughly popped. Plus they offer so many flavors. They have tons of flavors: white gourmet, cheddar cheese, kettle corn, birthday cake, caramel, Chicago Style, Vic's mix, and a bunch more flavors I can not remember. My fave is the Vic's mix which is white gourmet, cheddar, and caramel. The caramel is not over sugary and the pieces do not stick to each other. The cheddar cheese is my second favorite. The popcorn has a strong cheese taste without the powdery orange dust of a mess. You can ask for a sample if you want to try a certain flavor. Another awesome thing is the price. They have different sizes from small to feed a village size bag. The small bag is 3.5 cups. For small sizes of gourmet white it is $2.50 and $4.50 for flavored. The indulgence without the big hit to your pocketbook. The last couple of times I was there, the young gal with the dark curly hair provided excellent customer service. While parking for dinner I noticed this place and immediately got a craving for kettle corn, so after dinner we stopped in. I've been in this shopping complex multiple times and never noticed this cute little popcorn shop, I was even more shocked when the lady behind the counter informed us they have been there for 20 years! What?! Inside is cute and cozy. They have a little area to create custom popcorn gift boxes and a wall of their current flavors. They have everything from originals like kettle, caramel and cheddar to more artisan flavors like habanero, almond joy, mango and cotton candy. The employee happily offered us as many samples as we asked for which was nice. My husband asked for sweet and spicy and she recommended a bag mixed with the habanero and caramel corn, which she made fresh for us. We also grabbed some bags of kettle corn, caramel and their English toffee corn. For the 4 bags it came to $40, not too pricy honestly. Once in the car we cracked open each bag and dug in. The habanero/caramel corn is pretty much gone, my husband enjoyed it that much. The English toffee corn was my favorite though. What can I say, I love popcorn! Haven't been in five years, so I was very excited to stop. Didn't help that I was starving. Lucky me, they were popping fresh popcorn! Today I went to the store around noon. There was a gentleman working. I purchased the white popcorn . He bagged it up for me. I then told that I love popcorn. He informed me he eats a half bag of the popcorn I bought each day. I then told him I bought the prevailed Carmel popcorn 2 times before and it was stale. He then was a little irritated and said that is no true. Well then I told him I bought some from a candy store in folsom. I told him that the Folsom store was way better. Again he then told he has been to tgat store many times and said no way is that better. He definitely was angry at me for making that statement. He then gave a some caramel popcorn out of this big container. It was totally better than the bags I bought before. I told him that was better. He then received a phone call on his cell. Then just proceeded to ignore me and walk away. So if he is tge owner than he is very angry at people who do not have his same taste. Also very disrespectful. It's been about 6 years since I stopped making the hour drive to get my popcorn fix. I was craving and decided to return. We purchased the caramel, cheddar, white cheddar, lemon delight, and the strawberries and cream popcorn. The cheddar was just as tasty as I remember. The Lemon Delight was a new try and was so delicious. The caramel was tasty as remember although some complained it was stale (wasn't crunchy). The white cheddar was too salty, even for the salt lovers. The strawberries and cream tasted like chemicals after the first bite. All in all, less salt on the white cheddar and revamp the strawberries and cream altogether. Worth the trip and as we sit here finishing devouring the last of the lemon delight, I'm contemplating another trip. Server was excellence. Ambiance was bright, clean, and springy. read more
