    Smashburger to go
    Sherry H.

This is one of our favorite places to stop at when we travel from St. Louis to Louisville. Was making a quick trip yesterday and stopped in for a burger. They were quite busy as they just had a large table sat down. The food took longer than normal to come out so I just asked for it to go so I could eat it on the road. There are special used to be on Thursdays any of the burgers for seven dollars but it went up a bit and it was $8.99 for just the Smashburger. It was still really good and a great deal. I did notice that when you order it to go you don't get near as many french fries as they give you when you eat it there, but it was still plenty for the price. Great little place to stop at.

PIPS Pub was such a cool experience! It's set in an old 1950's Denny's diner that has been completely updated on the interior. This restaurant is as CLEAN as they come. The service was excellent, the cooks very quick, efficient, and wearing hair nets! You certainly don't see that often these days. The food came out just as described and was sooo delicious. I had the citrus chicken rice bowl , which was big enough for 2. If you find yourself in the Haubstadt/ Northern Evansville area you've gotta stop in for a wonderful meal!

Just an amazing time, Britney was our server and she was on point with every step recommended the special catfish and shrimp and it was perfection we had chatted before about cocktail smokers and low and behold Britney did not disappoint. All and all it was totally lovely and would recommend

What a find! Friday lunch was delicious. We started out with the Pretzel Sticks and Beer Cheese and they were outstanding. The cheese sauce was so good! Then we had the 6-inch Stromboli Sandwich and Onion Rings, Mac & Smashed Burger with Fries and the Thai Salad. Everything was amazing. My husband wished he'd gotten the 12" Stromboli right away because he inhaled it.

This was a great place to stop on our road trip. We came for lunch and our waitress was so nice and helpful. I got the Wednesday special of the catfish platter. The fish was good (I'm not normally a big catfish fan), but it was good and not overly fishy. The fries were also the first sweet fries I've had. This was a nice casual stop that was clean and comfortable seating.

I chose Pip's Pub due to it's proximity to my hotel, yelp reviews and untapp'd showing a couple of craft beers. First, as far as pubs go, this is more Gastro than Irish. The building is an updated diner, so the bar is the counter, only 4 taps (2 national macros, one national micro and one local). Limited liquor selection although they did have a seasonal cocktail menu. There is a TV over the bar, but I don't see this being a go to for game night. I sat at the bar, it looked like they had a decent sized dining room and a large patio that was not in use in December. The menu seemed to be elevated bar/comfort food; I almost just ordered appetizers but went for the pulled pork mac and cheese. The portion was appropriately sized; I was full when I finished, but didn't end up leftovers. The pulled pork was tender, I would have preferred a little less sauce as I couldn't get much flavor from the pork. The sign said new management and it looked like they had three people working (Monday night), two in the kitchen and one front of house. The waitress/server/bartender was always on the move but provided good service. The only odd thing was they cut the person next to me off. He wasn't drunk or belligerent, but he had 6 Michelob Ultras and that is their limit. She was polite but firm when he pointed out he had walked over from his hotel and he paid his bill with no issue. Not sure if that is a bar policy or local law. All and all I will probably be back next time I am in town.

I have notes for the graphic designer. Front of menu.

Pips Pub caught my eye due to the distinctive chrome building. You can't miss it. There's a bit of peeling of the onion here though. Pips is named like an English bar, looks like a retro diner from the outside, looks like a startup roadhouse on the inside, and has a diverse menu that is standard American restaurant. The seating indoors is plentiful with lots of tables, booths, and a long bar near the entrance. I was thinking this was a hot rod diner at first and would have gone with a brighter color than brown for the seating, but it blends with the barn-finish wood, standard neon and metal promotional signage, and simple paint scheme. There's also a large patio (partially covered) for use when the weather is nice and live bands play. Not much of a view with hotels surrounding it and the highway out front, but pleasant nonetheless. The menu is diverse. Lots of basic appetizers, plenty of sandwiches, Stromboli's, pizza, and a couple of desserts. There doesn't seem to be a lot of specialization, but our chicken sandwiches were very good and hit the spot. Fries and fried pickles were crispy and hot. Service was excellent! Jesse was the only guy working all the tables at lunch and nailed it. Pips is a nice spot and worth a visit!

This was our 2nd time eating here when passing through on interstate 64. The food is served fresh and hot and the service is wonderful. Today we had the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich and the mango habanero chicken wrap. Both were generous portions of chicken and were served with amazing sweet spicy fries. We will definitely be back!

    Meat Stromboli

Nostalgic Diner with old music playing and a clean setting. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. We all got different items. I got the Meat Stromboli with fries and a side of cole slaw. It was basically a pizza sub. The roll was fresh and soft with a bit of butter and Italian seasoning. The sauce was a rich, thick pizza sauce. Overall it was pretty good. The fries have a brown sugar and pepper seasoning and are really good. The slaw was a vinegar slaw with pickled banana peppers. It was different. Jacob got the Chicken on the Beach. The rice was seasoned and a little crispy. It gave it another texture and the grilled chicken was good. Someone ordered the pulled pork mac and cheese and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Both said they were good.

"If you tap it they will come." "Is this heaven?"…read more"No, it's Evansville." Ok, not heaven for sure but pretty darn good beer and friendly people. Well, this is brewery #303 for me. I almost didn't find it because apparently as SWPFTD would say I "wasn't looking hard enough". I'm a trained observer don't ya know! Anyway, I did find it obviously. It's a cute little storefront that's a pretty good size once you get in the door. There were about six people seated at the bar when I walked in. It's pretty clearly a good locals hangout. Everyone was super friendly and one of the gents at the bar ordered shots and offered me one. Well ok! A shot of tequila with a pineapple juice chaser is new to me but pretty damn good! I went with four beers tasters: Darkness on the Edge of Town milf. Oops I mean mild! The mild was that with a nice malty flavor. Arriba Arriba deep south lager is pretty non-offensive. Easy drinking and great in a hot day like today. Don Gets to Name It Amber had a flavor to it that was reminiscent of allspice. I'm not sure it was an addition or if it was the yeast. It was pretty pronounced though. SWPFTD would be pleased with this one. Holdens Hangover rye IPA was a good IPA. I got the rye flavor out of it which I like. I enjoyed the beers and the people at this little brewery. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. The $4 Bloody Marys and mimosa bar on the weekends are honestly one of the best brunch deals downtown. If you're looking for a quiet, cozy brunch spot, this probably isn't it. What really stands out is the bartender/general manager. They know their Irish whiskey inside and out and love to share that knowledge. If you're a whiskey fan, you'll be in heaven here! They pointed out a few unique bottles I'd never even heard of and explained what made them special. You can tell they're passionate, and that makes the experience even better. Here's a fun fact they told me that stuck: Irish whiskey owes its start to monks who brought perfume distilling techniques from the S Europe back to Ireland. It's wild to think that a tradition like that started so far away and turned into something so distinctly Irish. The pub itself has such a great personality--welcoming, and full of life. It's the kind of place where you can just relax, have a great conversation, and enjoy a drink that feels like it was picked just for you. The mixed drinks are also very, very good.
