Hands down, THE worst customer service I've EVER experienced in my 40+ years.
Went in with my girlfriend yesterday for a snack...the chili is self-serve and you can include a complimentary slice of bread. I proceeded to the counter to pay for my order and noticed a large display of kaiser buns on the counter by the cash listed for $.85 each - they looked fresh so I thought to buy one of those as well. There was no employee at the counter...no were there any tongs, nor was there any sign posted, so I picked the bun I wanted and placed it on the counter along with the rest of my order. The woman working appeared and then very rudely scolded me for selecting my Kaiser myself:
1) "you don't just grab the bun with your hands, nobody does that, who does that", she says
2) I did not react or say anything, quite frankly I was stunned that she said that to begin with and spoke to me in that tone of voice (..as if I were a child)
3) not letting it go, she then went on to say, again very rudely... "customers don't just grab there own buns, we do that, they don't, who does that?" all the while looking at me as is I were a three headed alien.
4) the customers in line must have been in just as much shock as I was, no doubt. I wish someone had captured this on video
I just looked at her and turned around and walked out without saying anything.
A) Did she expect me to actually buy anything from her at that point - or ever again?
B) Does she think she can get away with speaking to anybody like that, especially a paying customer?
C) I picked the Kaiser that I was going to eat...it's not like a licked all the Kaisers on display...it's not like a rummaged through all of the Kaiser with my bare hands.
D) Was there not a better way of expressing her discontent? Should she have kept it to herself?
E) Is she not aware of social media?
F) Is she not aware they are not the only bakery in Wakefield?
I thought Wakefield was a relaxed neighbourhood & atmosphere full of nice people, almost hippy-like town.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. If this woman is the owner then this is TERRIBLE business acumen....if she is an employee she needs to be fired! Such a rude and disgusting attitude, not to mention, complete lack of communication skills and customer service !!!
