Yum! Variety store with donuts, sandwiches and best of all good selection of chocolates! They deliver within Chariton for a nominal price.

Pipers Homemade Candy is the best and it is a jewel if a small grocery store. My family likes their peanut clusters and turtles the best.

I chuckle a bit every time I arrive at this Aldi. The parking lot is filled with nice, sometimes…read morefancy, vehicles. Growing up, we frequented Aldi but the perception was only the "poor" shopped there (in reality, money savers did too). Our mini-van was probably the nicest vehicle you found in the parking lot back then. Aldi has done a wonderful job changing that perception. This Aldi received a face-lift and they did a really nice job! It was a bit of a pain when they were in the middle of the remodel and I didn't like that they were closed but, wow, the results are amazing! The store now starts with the produce section which creates more of a welcoming, open entrance. However, many people come for the great produce so it can get a bit congested there. I shop on weekdays so it's not been bad yet. The rest of the store has a new layout but everything is better organized in labeled sections. They seem to have more "seasonal"/limited supply items too. I love it! Checkout is always quick as they pay attention to how long lines can get and open up another checkout as needed. Since I always have at least one kid with me, I appreciate their attention to making it easier for me to unpack a cart and if an option, they'll use the same cart I came up with my kid sitting in. My Apple Pay always works here unlike some other stores and that always makes me smile. I have nothing bad to say about this location. Always a pleasant experience!

I waited for 5 minutes and during that time a woman started putting her groceries on the conveyor belt. BRIAN, returned and immediately started checking her groceries instead of me. I let it go. After she was done he was starting to help someone else while I was standing in front of him. I stated, excuse me I am next, he said we'll I dont want to be rude to the next person in line. I said, I'm next in line, to which the person said, yes, he is and it doesn't matter. He grabbed the large bundle of matts scanned them then FLUNG THEM ACCROSS THE AREA, TO THE WALL ON THE OTHER SIDE. He saw me standing there, engaged with me about a cart another woman was trying to maneuver, and still decided to ignore me. BRIAN is rude, could have hit someone with the floor matts, and reflected his bad attitude by flinging these matts across the room. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Jade Palace - The showdown between a crab Ragoon and a magnificent pup cup of fried rice

1 star because zero isn't an option…read more I didn't know Jade Palace was running a social experiment on how little food you can serve for $34 before someone calls the health department, but here we are. First off, I've been to plenty of Chinese spots in my life, and even the hole-in-the-wall places will heap you up like they're trying to feed a football team. Not here. These folks handed me what can only be described as a pup cup of rice. Like literally, I could've ordered a Starbucks dog treat and come out with more carbs. Then came the "egg rolls." Spoiler: they weren't egg rolls. They were limp, barely warmed-up spring rolls stuffed with sadness. Two of them. I ordered egg rolls and ended up with appetizers straight out of a gas station freezer section. Uncooked on the inside too--crunchy outside, still questioning life on the inside. Beautiful. Now let's talk about the chicken and broccoli. Usually this dish comes swimming in sauce--like the kind you actually want to drown your rice in. Instead, I got a dry broccoli funeral with a few strips of chicken sprinkled on top. No juice. No flavor. Just vibes. Honestly, if my Tupperware lid had more moisture from condensation than my meal, something went terribly wrong in the kitchen. $34 for this? Jade Palace, y'all should be arrested for armed robbery with chopsticks. At this point, I'm convinced the chef just saw me walk in and thought, "Let's see how far we can push this guy before he calls the health department." Well congratulations, I'm one step away from dialing. If you're into overpriced rabbit portions, mystery eggroll-spring-roll hybrids, and flavorless broccoli fitness bowls, Jade Palace is the spot for you. If you actually like Chinese food? Do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else--even Panda Express would be fine dining compared to this nonsense.
