Yummy breakfast and lunch options! I had the Roast beef and a couscous salad, my son had a BLT. Both were offered on a delicious biscuit. I washed mine down with black current tea, he guzzled apple juice. This place has recently changed ownership, but food quality has not gone bye-bye. I wavered between 4 & 5 stars because of the rather sparse decor, but the food pushed me over the edge! What a great find for lunch today. The food is fresh and delicious. The prices are amazingly low. The servings are perfect for lunch. Sometimes I am amazed at the gigantic servings in many places, which only feed into American obesity. For two of us, the lunch bill was just $15 and change. We had one cheese steak hand pie, double pork hand pie and two side salads. The hand pies were super but I was even more impressed by the corn and basil side salad. I will now routinely plan dentist appointments in Indianola around lunch time so I can visit Mish Mash routinely. read more

5 words: Best biscuits and gravy EVER! It's hard to find the words to describe how good it is. The biscuits are light and creamy and the gravy is insanely delicious. I can't really comment on anything else, because I ordered the B&G the first time and can't bring myself to order anything else! The decor is country kitchen'ish but nice. The coffee is also very good, but your choices for sweetener are sugar and (yuck) stevia. I know it seems silly but some Splenda would be nice. Try MishMash, you won't be disappointed! read more

I've been a fan of Mishmash since they opened - great food. I went in during COVID for pick up and absolutely no masks or gloves around the food. They didn't seem to care at all about the safety of their customers which seems absurd and so unhealthy. Unfortunately they've lost a customer for life. read more

COVID precautions here made us feel safe. Biscuits were excellent. The texture of the egg in the biscuit sandwich was just right, soft middle & crispy edges. My middle child ordered a yogurt parfait and I was impressed by the size and quality of ingredients for the cost. It looked great. Stopped for breakfast. Only one other person there. Very clean nice place. Didn't know to go to counter to order so sat while a woman mopped. Finally she told us that people order at the counter. Yes, there is a hanging sign saying that but we didn't see it. We both started with the monkey bread, which was tasty. I had the quiche of the day-- bacon. It was a generous portion but a bit dry. I hate to leave such a low rating, but there has to be some sort of accountability for not being open when they say they'll be open. I'm upset and disappointed. I made plans with a friend to drive 45 minutes from Des Moines to Mishmash in Indianola to get lunch and pick up some bakery items. We drove back to Des Moines, hungry and disappointed, and this round trip wasted 1 1/2 hours of our Saturday afternoon. I deliberately set aside time and made plans to visit and have lunch on Saturday September 1 at 1:30pm. We excitedly walked up to the storefront and see a "closed" sign with all the lights off and the door locked. Their listing on Google says they're open til 2pm on Saturdays. Their Facebook page says they're open til 2pm on Saturdays. Their website says they're open til 2pm on Saturdays. Their Yelp page says they're open til 2pm on Saturdays. I even visited their Facebook page right before leaving Des Moines to make sure they didn't make any recent postings about closing early on Saturday September 1. There was nothing to indicate that they wouldn't be open. So bummed. read more

Wonderful, somewhat unique breakfast menu, especially if you are looking for something different than a typical restaurant breakfast. Maybe cost is a bit more than normal for a coffee shop, but food was delicious and better than the norm so was worth it. read more

I had the basic biscuit, monkey bread and Guatemalan drip coffee. They were all delish!! The basic biscuit has fried egg, bacon (or ham), cheddar and garlic shmear. It tasted so fresh and homemade and was SO flavorful. This is a new staple and completely blows other Indianola restaurants out of the water. They also have great prices and free wifi! This place is an absolute gem! Right-sized, comfortable, interesting, innovative and friendly. And the menu is spectacular! Simple, homemade and just delicious. We shared the quiche-of-the-day and an order of extraordinary biscuits and gravy. Pure breakfast heaven. Also snagged sides of monkey bread and peach coffee cake to complement delicious fresh coffee. This is a gem in Indianola! We were looking for a Saturday lunch and found Mishmash Eats. I had orzo salad and my hubby had the Monte Christopher sandwich and neither of us could be happier. Stopped by this place in the afternoon to just see what they had as I'd never been here before. Was greeted briskly by a woman I assumed was the owner. I told her we were just checking the place out and wanted to see what treats they had. She said "well we close at two". It was 130. My mom asked if they had coffee and she again told us they closed at 2. We ordered a two coffees and a soda. Coffee was AWFUL. Tasted like hot water. We asked if they had any cold drinks for my son and the rude lady turned around and said "I thought you wanted hot coffee not iced". I informed her we asked about cold drinks like soda. My son ordered a Diet Coke and was given a regular coke. Besides the horrible coffee and unwelcoming atmosphere, I'm really turned off by a business that has an issue serving people half an hour before close. I will not go back here and I will not recommend this place to anyone looking for bakery items. There's a better bakery with great service up the street. read more

I took my daughter and her friend here for breakfast and it was delicious!! Cute and quaint decor is very inviting. They have a small menu but we were impressed with everything we had. My daughter's friend and I had the biscuit sandwich and it did not disappoint! A homemade, tender and flaky biscuit with bacon, eggs and cheese with a schmear of garlic cream cheese...mmm! My daughter had the biscuits and gravy and I ended up stealing some of hers...the best I've had in a long time (if not ever)!
