I have ordered to go many times but this time we ate in. Service was slow but the waitress was nice. We shared wings, tomato basil soup and the drunken piggy. Soup looked like French onion on top and the soup itself was good but very thick. The wings were great by themselves but we asked for the hot sauce and it had ghost pepper which was good but HOT. Last 2 times here out of their smoked pork (a main staple) and this particular Saturday night (8:30pm) they were out of EVERYTHING. All pasta, sweet potato fries, Pepsi(c'mon distributor) chocolate milk for kids, honey mustard, mozzarella sticks and cheese curds and to top it all off..... crayons for the kids menu. And they still have 90 minutes to go. My fear is they are so focused on their breakfast service they are not keeping up with their dinner menu. Food - I had the chicken marinara sandwich + a baked potato as a side (nice option) and it was good tasting. My wife had a Cuban sandwich. It needed WAY more pickles but was good as well. My daughter had the chicken nachos as main dish and it was larger, tasty and filling. Service - waitress was good. She brought several taste samples to the table and everything was delivered hot and with a smile. Ambiance - is pretty good. A/C worked well. Seating is a bit limited but was pretty open at 5:30. It filled quickly after that (by 6pm it was full). We had a nice dinner. Prices were very normal for the area (A&W would have been a similar bill). Came here after a disappointing trip to Pleasantville. The food photos on Facebook looked promising! We were greeted and seated right away. Drink orders were taken. I tried a pumpkin spice white Russian that was actually pretty darn good! Definitely a dessert or sipping drink though. My fiance had the drunken piggy, but with a breaded tenderloin rather than a grilled loin. I had the E's 50/50 burger. Both were very flavorful. Mine was topped with onion rings that ended up being cold and the steak fries we got as our sides weren't very warm either. Other than that. The sandwiches had excellent flavor. The special tonight was a parmwsean encrusted new York strip or Riley that looked amazing. May have to come back for one of their specials another night! read more

They have good food but they are often out of things. I've been here multiple times on special occasions when I've had to change my order due to their lack of availability. I've also had a mixed experience with service. I'm an occasional customer, not a regular, and I've felt ignored by some servers. Husband just googled restaurants and he found Z's. I had the Ruben and he had the tenderloin. We were both VERY happy with our meals. It is one of the best places we have eaten in a long time. The service was good, and the prices were very reasonable. As cattle farmers, a big plus for us was the locally sourced beef and pork. We will be back!!! read more

Z's serves burgers, sandwiches, steaks, and cocktails with a little extra something that kicks them up a notch. One of my favorites at Z's is the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. The first time I ordered, I didn't read the description. I thought it was going to be a traditional Chicken Parm. No, this is better. It's a juicy grilled chicken breast topped with thick sliced bacon, melty provolone, sliced tomatoes, pesto, and the bread is coated with Parmesan cheese and grilled. It's not only better than what I thought I was getting, this sandwich is huge. I also ordered a Coffee Old Fashioned with wonderful notes of coffee and chocolate. The Winter Sangria has liquored berries in it. Bethany's Punch is a wonderful, refreshing summer berry cocktail. Be sure to leave room for the homemade from scratch pie!! Our middle school basketball team was in a tournament in Indianola. Nine hungry kids and a dozen adults needed food and had to be back in time for their next game. We couldn't believe our luck when we were seated in the back room where we received beverages and placed all our orders for the delicious food. Everything was fresh and done just as asked. This was my first time to Z's and I was really excited for it as my mother had hyped it up saying it was delicious and super fresh. I was sorely disappointed with the experience. We ordered the fried mushrooms because she bragged about how they are made in house. The portion was HUGE which is a plus, but the mushrooms were way underdone and so greasy that I could squeeze them lightly and see grease dripping off. We asked to switch our appetizer to the spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious despite it being under salted. I had the chicken parm with the Caesar salad, both of which were disappointing. The salad was drowning in dressing with two unopened packs of crackers on top because they had run out of croutons. The chicken had NO flavor and the sauce tasted like it came from a Hunts can. The cheese on top was rubbery. The only good thing I can say about it is that the portion was huge and the breading was crispy, but, again, no seasoning. My mother said her burger was over salted to the point she didn't want to eat it. Our server forgot our silverware twice after we had to ask for it as our food arrived. The table we were sat at and the bathroom floor were both sticky. I'm so sad that this was our experience. read more

I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately did not. We started with fried pickle spears, the breading was falling off and the pickles were not cooked enough. I choose the Iowa chop, it was very dry and hard to cut. The side of brussel sprouts were not cooked enough. My Mom ordered the ribeye and it was was good and flavorful but she also got undercooked brussel sprouts. Not sure if I will come again and try something different. But this time definitely does not have me wanting to come back anytime soon. $70 for 2 people for not great food read more
