In addition to the Dutch Letter (which we've always found to be delicious), we also ordered their specialty - the Almond Creme cookies for each of us to try. They are so light, crumbly and delicious - don't leave without sampling at least one! Lastly, my brother ordered some Peanut Butter Crispy treats and as you might expect - we all found them to be delicious also. This is a very charming sweet shoppe with many desserts to choose from. In addition to chocolates and candy, they offer Dutch letters, puff pillows, and these amazing shortbread pink cookies. Nan's is right on the corner and offers plenty of free parking. The shop is small but not tiny. It can easily fit many people inside. The prices are fair and everything was really good. It's a fun shop with a vintage flair. Stop by and grab a few treats. read more

What a sweet and delightful family owned business filled with treats that will satisfy any sweet tooth you have! Everyone was so kind, informative of their sweet treats, and gave us recommendations to what we were looking for that were perfect! Today was my second trip to Nan's Nummies under new ownership. I've already reported on soso sugar cookies. For my birthday I purchased 'puff pillows'. NOT the same. Filling is traditionally powdered sugar, real butter and vanilla. Nan and Pella make them that way. The current pastry is filled with frosting. I took two bites and threw the remainder away. I LOVE everything about this business! All of the original goodies are the exact same as the previous owner make, down to the ingredients and brands, but the new owner came in and updated the building, along with adding some new and exciting goodies. Everything is so clean and updated now, with a wider selection of goodies that the new owner introduced in addition to the old classics. New treats are introduced almost weekly and they are all so tasty! Kudos to the new owner for keeping the same old classics we all love and breathing new life into it at the same time! read more

Great fudge! Would reccomender the peanut butter chocolate and the cookies and cream! Very nice and friendly staff. Edit-Came back to grab some more fudge and the two girls serving this time were not very friendly, handled my chocolate with their bare hands and one even sat down while there were many customers waiting to order. Nan's Nummies fails to make me go nom nom nom, but succeeds in making me go BLEH! Sure they have chocolate covered Jelly Bellys, Truffles and Kettle Korn, which are delicious but not made by Nan. What is concocted by Nan is pure sugar that leads to sugar overload and headaches. One prime example is their puff pillow, buttercream frosting filled turnover topped generously with sugar crystals. Nan also makes fudge and cookies, I have not yet tried them, I'll admit I'm afraid to. Sugar migranes are not pleasant. read more

Such a nice little shop in Valley Junction! They had the screen door open to let the beautiful weather in today! I love that they have almond creams!! The Easter eggs are delicious! Buttercream was good very creamy and soft!! Salted caramel was the best!!! Sweet but not too sweet!!! Cupcakes we tried were peanut butter and red velvet! Flavorful but crumbly and a bit dry. They were pretty good. Average prices some things a little steep and friendly staff!! Cute little shop. read more

I was not a very big fan of the products I tried from this place. I remember the sweets tasted old and very bland/strange. It could have been bad choice of products from my end, I chose based on looks. They definitely didn't taste like what they looked like. The shop itself is pretty cute, many different items on display which all looks tasty, some small seating area to eat. The staff was friendly and able to answer questions about the products. I may come back again and try something different if the opportunity arose. read more

Went to Nan's Nummies for first time to buy candy for wedding. Called first and asked about turn over and freshness. Was assured of freshness. Saltwater taffy not fresh by any means, cookies - what -2 or 3 days old?, Fudge ,Boston baked beans, Dutch mints, peas and carrots were fresh enough for wedding. . Over all experience was a disappointment and they lost a first and last time customer. Service as very lax as if she could care less re her customers. read more

I am not impressed. I had been at a bridal fair recently and gotten information on a cake baker who was based out of Nan's Nummies. I checked the store website, and there was information welcoming this lady as the new in house cake person. I went in to the store and met with her to draft up ideas. I was ready to pay my deposit if the tasting went well. When I called less than a week and a half later to schedule it a gentleman informed me that Kristen no longer worked there. He was now in charge of the cake orders. This should have been a huge red flag, but I talked to this new person a few more times on the phone. I had set up a cake testing for 10-13-12. I was informed this morning (10-12-12) that he was no longer employed at Nan's Nummies, and at this time the store would not be offering cake making services. So, two bakers, multiple wasted calls, meetings, time, etc. This all transpired from 9-10-12-10-12-12. One month....Needless to say I'm confused and pretty annoyed. Thank goodness I had not paid a deposit. I love the Grand Junction area and shops. However, I'm not sure how business is conducted at Nan's Nummies which makes me question everything else at that store. read more

I recommend that you don't even step in the door of this business. My family walked in on a Valley Junction Christmas event one evening, and the Jelly Belly's, which are located close to the floor where children can have EASY access to, was accidentally touched by my son. Some Jelly Belly's spilled out onto the grate. The owner came over immediately shaking her fist and pointed to a sign that said that any spillage made by children would be a mandatory $3 charge. Okay, we were fine with that. I was willing to take responsibility and pay for the spillage. We gathered up all the jelly beans that had spilled out on the grate and put them in a bag that they had available. We decided we would also buy more jelly belly's that were more to our liking than the ones that spilled out. So, we put in another ounce or two in the bag. We went up to the front counter, and the owner then told us the total was over $8 for a small bag of jelly belly's. We knew that she was charging us for the bag, which was around $5 and then adding on $3 even though the bag had the spilled jelly belly's included in the bag. We told her we would not pay that much. She told us to pay the $3 with no jelly belly's. We did and told her that I would not be back again, even though I had frequented the shop many times. She lost me as a customer for good. It would seem that this must be a problem of children accidentally hitting the buttons since they are easy to reach by any toddler and she felt she needed to post a sign about it. It would seem that good business sense would have been to let us pay for the bag that included the spilled jelly beans and add on the correct amount for the remaining beans. It would also seem to make sense that she needs to raise the jelly belly's to more eye level for adults so that children don't have easy access to the jelly belly's. Again, I recommend you don't even go in the shop. It isn't worth it. read more

I love this place! Everything I've tried has been delicious! I do not buy the brand candy they have there (JellyBelly, M&M's, salt water taffy, etc) because you can get that anywhere and cheaper. But the homemade candies, cookies, fudge, etc is amazing and priced just right. Always worth the trip. read more

Nan is a very warm and friendly person, but literally every thing we ordered tasted stale and dusty. Everything. From the puff pillow (Nan, that should be filled with cream, not sugary frosting), the cookie pizza, the truffles, and the bars. We ordered $20 in treats and threw away almost everything. read more

I have been going to Nan's Nummies pretty much since she opened her store. The almond cremes are my all time favorite cookie..they just melt in your mouth. Love the frosted sugar cookie and loves that she changes them up from the almond flavor to the nutmeg and lemon depending on the season. Can't go wrong with anything you get there. Cookies and other treats look great but taste ranges from fair to good (not great) and is less than what one might expect. I went here last year for some treats while shopping in Valley Junction and was sick to find a long, red hair in my cookie bag later on. I threw the rest out and felt sick, but realize this can happen. I haven't been back since, but decided to go back this year for some Christmas cookies for my workplace. I went in and the gal working has long red hair and I see where the hair last time came from! She was complaining to the person in front of me about the holidays being too much work and blah, blah. When she was helping me she kept pushing her hair out of her face and I wanted to yell "Just pull it back! You work in food service!" Anyhow, I got the cookies for work and later shocked, embarrassed and sick when a coworker found a light colored hair baked into a cookie and partly sticking out. Again, threw everything away. I can forgive once, but not twice considering I have only been there a few times. I will never go back. read more
