Zach from PipeWorks came today to install a new kitchen faucet and do an annual clean/diagnostic of the basement boiler. In both cases, he discovered and patiently explained upgrades and replacements, which he performed expertly. He also answered all of my questions with care - including the dumb ones - and explained the charges clearly. Zach didn't try to upsell me anything unnecessary - he did what he needed to do and didn't do what he didn't need to do. Finally, he's a very nice and polite guy, which made the event comfortable and trustworthy. I'm thrilled with my upgraded faucet, which works perfectly, and glad to have the boiler in tip-top shape for the season. Zach did a great job on fixing our heater. Runs like a champ. He also advised us on how to make sure we stay safe with regards to carbon monoxide. Not only are they very clear with the work that needs to be performed, but they follow up with text and email confirming apppintments and letting me know when the technicians were being dispatched! Purchasing a new home and not living there at this time was incredibly helpful so that we didn't have to spend the whole day just waiting around for people to show up. Our HVAC system broke on one of the hottest week of the summer. Pipework provided a temporary window AC unit and quickly came to give an estimate and schedule the work. The crew Shakil, Odin and Jose did an amazing job in replacing 2 HVAC systems. They arrived early, they protected our floors. They were organized, they worked very efficiently and took the time to check the systems carefully before leaving. Even though there was an unexpected need for an electrician intervention, this work was added smoothly to the job and didn't delay its completion within the same day. Called about a clogged kitchen sink drain. The first person seamed earnest and really tried to snake the clog in two visits, but he sent the snake through the wrong pipe, even though I suggested that might be the case. The next day a plumbing analyst/estimator came to evaluate the situation. Between the two of us we located the actual drain pipe. He came back with a quote of $1,800 to jury rig a Rube Goldberg rerouting of the pipes that would have eliminated the external roof vent piping. Today I cleared the clog myself using a $50 drain jetting hose attached to my power washer. read more

The appointment window was 10-2. The technician came at 2. He was polite and professional and replaced a fuse for me in my unit as part of their mandatory $105 visit fee. The first thing he said on arrival was due to some new envirnomental law I would have to replace my cooling system by 2020 anyway so wouldn't I be better off just getting a quote for a new system? I said no, could you just fix it? and he came back with a $2,500 quote. It just seemed so high for a system that was working well last autumn. super disappointed with their services. any time they came out, I was quoted an outrageous price for parts and service even though I was a member. Most recently I had them come out to do the annual maintenance on my heating unit and while servicing it, they said a fuse blew which blew my transformer and I had to pay to fix it. Mind you, my heat was working perfectly fine before they came out. They quoted me $500 for the part and when I looked up the part, it was $36 at home depot. I called them saying my heat was working perfectly fine prior to them coming out and now I'm without it. They told me, it was my unit and if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay for the part. I asked to speak w a manager and they said he would give a call and never did. They had their technician do his dirty work, telling me that it's the fuse which isn't their fault and I have to pay for the transformer replacement. Needless to say, I cxld my subscription and now have to find someone else to come out and fix my heat. I rarely write poor reviews but I had to let people know this company is a rip off and they do nothing but over charge and pretend they are doing you a favor. Pipeworks charged me 50 dollars more than what was originally quoted for sewer line inspection. Also, it has now been a week and a half after the inspection and so far I have not received the report or video of the inspection from them. When ordering the inspection one week before the date, they said it would cost $275 and I would have the report and video within 24-48 hours. Then one day before the inspection they left a message saying the cost has gone up to $325. We heard the message the morning of the inspection and it was already too late to change plans. We called them and asked why the price has increased - they offered no explanation whatsoever. The inspector who showed up at the house was good, knew what he was doing and gave us good verbal feedback after his inspection. However, after a week and a half of no report and no video, I have now asked them for a partial refund. read more

We hired them fre times for AC repair. Their pricing is a ripoff and completely non transparent. They try to sell you Silver/ Gold/ Platinum packages each costing thousands of $ and you are not sure what you are getting. We were charged $3488 for AC outdoor Unit repair which included a circuit board, circuit board motor And surge protector replacement. Within 7 months the outdoor unit started showing problem. Decided not to call them back even though we had 5 months warranty left on their prior work as I am not confident they will not try to sell me some expensive repair package again. Way too expensive... Paid $99 for service charge and diagnostic; no problem. Then the charge schedule comes out. The cheapest (3 month warranty) would have cost me approximately $460 (including tax) to install a $25 part and a screw to hold it (roughly a 5 minute job including the time to go and get the part from the truck). To be fair, we used them for a previous service and were happy with the work. This review is specific to an incident and how it was handled. We called them to fix a clogged drain and while very rare, their snake was caught. They told us that they couldn't remove it and to do so would cost between $3,000 and $14,000. They sent us two proposals but not the cheaper one. They wanted to basically redo our pipes or cut open walls in our bathroom. We didn't expect such a high expense and didn't know what to do, we also were just home with a newborn and to make it worse, only have one bathroom. They cut the snake and asked us to get back to them with the option we wanted. The next day we called several plumbers who were all in shock this happened to us. One came right away and fixed the issue in ten minutes! Pipework didn't even try. Accidents happen but the way the situation was handled was unprofessional and we felt completely taken advantage of. Leaving a family with no working bathroom and asking them to pay thousands of dollars to fix something is unacceptable. They should have tried to resolve the issue before sending us costly proposals, clearly it was fixable... Responding to your comment: that is not accurate. We were told that there was no other way the snake could come out. The options would have required a wall opening even for the new pipes. We did not have an appointment for the next day because we were told we needed to get a contractor lined up to do the work and given the price we wanted to think over all options and also call others for a second opinion. All your options required either cutting the wall open or opening a ceiling. We then even called the manager back that evening to go through all the options and asked if there was no other way to remove the snake and he said there was not. Again, accidents happen but you were not willing to remove the snake unless we agreed to very costly options. Another company did it ten minutes, so clearly it was doable. read more

We had so many problems, but Fedi finally fixed everything!!!! We've worked with Pipe Works for years. They relieved our frustration and worry. We had water pressure issues causing several problems and a few people couldn't really figure it out. At first, we were not sure it was the plumbing. Wanted to "rebuild my toilet tank" for $500, and gave me quotes for various levels of service starting at $10,000. After multiple problems and visits I just had a total toilet flood and disaster. Called Pipe Works on a Saturday night on basis of a neighbor's recommendation when we needed emergency service to clear a clogged sewer line. After an initial mix up, their technician Mario showed up about 10:30 PM. He seemed confident that he could solve the problem when he called from his truck to give me an ETA. He diagnosed the problem and worked until after midnight both inside and outside the house to resolve the issue. Although it was an expensive service call, he told me about a special that Pipe Works was having on drain clearing which I'm sure saved me a few bucks. After clearing the problem, he arranged for someone to return on Monday morning to inspect the entire sewer line and told me they would do it on a complementary basis as a new customer of his company. Overall, I give kudos to Mario for efficiently and energetically working to get us back to normal quickly and for the company's customer service for getting it right the first time and offering to return for the inspection during normal business hours. Bottom line is that I would definitely use Pipe Works again. read more

Called pipe works after we smelt gas page turned off the gas said to call a plumber to check for leaks .Sunday pipe works came out sprayed pipes looking for leak could not find said everything was fine.Pseg left a tag telling them what to do. They told them to run a air test they didn't. He sprayed looking for leaks said they were when PSEG came back they said there was still a leak. He found it and fixed it I told him they charged me over 600 and said there was no leak. Got untouched with Pipe Works they keep telling me a supervisor will call me they never call back.Is this away to treat people. As a new customer, I had problems and was unsatisfied with the outcome of an initial visit. I emailed their customer service department, explaining the circumstance and my dissatisfaction and got an immediate response. The customer service manager, Michael Tapia, came out the next morning with another plumber, Jonathan. They quickly solved the issue within two hours. Their willingness to rectify problems and commitment to satisfaction turned what would have been a bad situation into a happy one. Customer service seems to be a throwaway idea for so many businesses in the service industry, but the owner and service manager at Pipeworks showed the concept in action. Jonathan is the BEST--very knowledgeable and accommodating-- I recommend Pipeworks, and Jonathan in particular. read more

June 15, 2013 - Pipe Works came to the house to fix a dripping spigot on the outside of our house. The cost was $99 to show up and $350 to replace something that should have cost $150 total. What is our basis for $150: The spigot itself is $50 at best, and if Pipe Works hourly rate were even $200/hr, it took them 30 minutes. Therefore, $100 of labor (half of $200/hr) and $50 in parts = $150. I also checked with other plumbers and several other people who had had the same thing done - they ALL said that was a $150 - $160 fix. When I called Pipe Works to discuss the issue, and asked them to explain HOW they came up with the numbers, they COULD NOT or WOULD NOT explain why they charge $350 (on top of the $99 show up fee). When I gave them my rational for the $150, they had no comment. They stated that they quoted the price to us after the workman showed up, which we had to OK prior, that is true, but the problem is, you pay these guys $99 to "show up" and you are going to pay someone else $99 to "show up" again to do it...you can't win...you are trapped at that point. You can't discuss it with the workman who comes out to the site, he just has to charge what the computer tells him to, so debating with him before he does the work is fruitless - you're stuck. Anyway, given that Pipe Works had no explaination or justification for the charge, and by all standards it was out of line, an objective review was warranted. read more

Awful service. Had a furnace installed last winter. Come this spring, try to turn on my CAC and it doesn't work. Call up the company and they send a tech out and they tell me that my compressor is shot and I need a new CAC unit. I told them it was working last year and should be working this year. Called another company and found out it was a $30 capacitor that needed to be changed. Tried to get a refund on their $99 "diagnosis" but have yet to hear back from them.. Surprise... I then had an issue with the catch pan that sits under the AC coil and on top of the furnace and they told me that I needed a new coil. Come to find out that the catch pan was leaking and that needed to be repaired. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!! They will try to sell you the most expensive solution / product when there is a problem. read more

Had insulation installed in the older portion of our home built in 1925, which had an addition on the back of the home. We just purchased the home this summer and during this recent winter found the older portion of the home was not sufficiently insulated. Rob came out inspected our home and then came up with a proposal. We decided to go with spray foam around the rim joist in the basement to help our balloon framed house. Additionally, they removed the old fiberglass from the attic and added blown in insulation. Charles, Nick, and Giovanni came out on time ( even with the snow, which happened last night), put down floor protection, and got to work. The project took all day, and upon completion, they cleaned up the work space leaving little to no mess. We are very satisfied and would certainly recommend them for this service. read more

I understood what I was in for with an emergency water heater replacement. Called Roto Rooter and several other plumbing services and none were able to accommodate same day service. Pipeworks came to our rescue. The price was reasonable and more than likely cost me 20% less than what Roto rooter would've charged me if they were to come the following day. We were dispatched Mario from Pipeworks and he was excellent from the moment he arrived. Began the work immediately and was done in about 3 hours. The previous install of my water heater was abhorrent, and Mario made me aware of all the issues it had and said that this new install would have none of those problems and ensure that we would be safe and happy with our purchase for years to come. I'm doing a kitchen renovation and I wanted to look into installing radiant floor heat. I contacted Pipe Works to get information. The office took my name and number and promised to have an engineer call me back. That never happened. My contractor also contacted Pipe Works and made an appointment to have someone come to my house for an estimate. Not only did no one show up, no one called to cancel or reschedule the appointment. My contractor followed up with the person who was supposed to do the estimate. He told my contractor that he thought the job would be too small for him to bother making the visit to my house (obviously without seeing it), so he decided to ignore the appointment. I guess he also thought that his time was more valuable than my contractor's, who had to wait around for him to not show up. Very unprofessional "business," to say the least. read more

We were told it would be $500 to snake the drain, which I agreed to. The contractor got the snake out of the van but didn't use it because he said the drain wasn't connected to any pipe (which I find suspect, and will get a second opinion). He then told me I owed him $415.84 for getting the snake machine out of the van. He did nothing to alleviate the problem, and I was out $415.84, rather than the quoted $59. I called to ask for the "menu price" to clean a tankless water heating system. The response? "I need your zip code in order to give you a quote." So right away you know they are going to gouge you if live in a "nice" town. When the technician came out, he wouldn't give me the actual quote until I either paid him $59 (the price of getting a quote) or agreed to perform the service he was recommending. Then it turned out the quote was for approximately $600 PER unit (I have two). This is easily 3x what other local plumbers have charged me for annual maintenance service. This was NOT a repair...just annual maintenance. The unit costs $1200 and comes with a 15 year warranty. And these clowns charge $600 for annual maintenance? As a kicker, while the technician was here he derided some previous work I had done to install a pressure reducer valve. In fact, he told he I was not meeting building codes. Guess who installed the PRV? Yep, Pipeworks. I understand that we are in the middle of pandemic pricing on everything, but do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this outfit. read more

Have installed hew HVAC in 2 homes for us - we have been customers since our first emergency repair more than 10 years ago. Annual service contract is expensive, but as long as Rich completes it, it is VERY thorough - Not all techs are good or competent! Rich finds errors that other techs make. It will be a sad day when Rich is promoted out of the field! Backoffice staff (schedulers) have not always been good or competent, BUT after a lot of hassle and back and forth, I do believe that they have the right team in place. Carolyn is customer service oriented, and Patti is attentive on the phones. I will always remember that Paul personally completed calls at one point when he was down on staff.
