Enjoying fine tobacco is as much of an art as it is a hobby. In order to enjoy tobacco to its fullest, the smoker must have a trusted tobacconist to whom to turn in times of need. A quality tobacconist knows what to mix, what to sell, and how to sell it. He also knows how to correctly store his product, ensuring it is kept at the proper humidity, as to prevent a stale, dry smoke. As an avid pipe and cigar smoker, there are few remaining brick-and-mortar shops that cater to the true tobacco connoisseur. Pipe Puffer is one of them.
True to their name, Pipe Puffer is the absolute mecca of pipe retailers in the Indianapolis area. This shop has all tobacco, pipes, and accoutrements to ensure the very best smoking experience. While Pipe Puffer does not carry an overly large inventory of pipes, they do carry enough to give customers a wide variety of choices. Whether one is looking for an inexpensive (but quality) "wall pipe," or a trusted Peterson, he is sure to find it. Pipe Puffer mostly deals in new pipes, but it does have a nice selection of estates, including ones that are English made. For the customer looking for high-end pipes (e.g. Dunhill), he may not find it at this shop. I surmise that these items are not carried due to low market demand and impossible online price competition.
Pipe Puffer has an outstanding and frankly unbeatable pipe tobacco selection. They have a very wide array of bulk house blends, which come in all types (e.g. English, Virginia, Burley, and aromatic). Popular brand name blends such as Dunhill Nightcap, Early Morning Pipe, and My Mixture 965 - as well as several McClelland products, are available in bulk. The tinned tobacco selection is even more impressive, with all the major brands (e.g. Dunhill, Samuel Gawith, Frog Morton's, Orlik, and McClelland) being represented. Pipe Puffer even stocks Esoterica tobaccos, which are nearly impossible to find available online or at inferior B&M retailers.
Pipe Puffer has a fantastic walk-in humidor for all of the customer's cigar needs. Doing most of the business in this area, one would be hard-pressed not to find the perfect stick at a reasonable price. Mentioning price is important when discussing cigars for many reasons. First, many shops, especially ones connected to cigar bars, cater to novice smokers - many of whom smoke fine tobacco to impress rather to actually enjoy it. To this crowd, the price of the cigar reflects its quality. The connoisseur knows that this is not always the case. Many inexpensive cigars, like Flor de Oliva, Rocky Patel Edge, and Casa de Garcia provide a fantastic smoke. Pipe Puffer carries all of these. They also carry the Padron brand, which I consider to be the absolute best. The store also has a full line of cigar cutters, punches, ashtrays, and lighters.
Pipe Puffer represents the finest selection of tobacco that Indianapolis has to offer. I strongly recommend patronizing this establishment. read more
