I live in an old Co-Op in Jackson Heights in the Historic District. My partner and I had an issue with one of our showers that never drained and we tried everything that we could over the counter. I posted on yelp asking for quotes and Kirk responded promptly via text and we arranged an appointment after I sent him some images for a quote. I received several quotes from people and Kirk's was not only competitive, but his breakdown was really comprehensive of what the task was going to entail. He arrived early, went to work immediately, and cleaned up like he was never there. If you're looking for a clean, good, knowledgable person to do a job involving pipes or drains in your home, I cannot recommend you Kirk enough. More details on the job and why it was more complicated than it should have been: - The previous owner of my building redid their bathroom but instead of allowing the shower pipe to be accessible, they installed a grate over the pipe making it not accessible because of shoddy workmanship - I was honest about this in my request detailing that the pipe was not going to be easy to get to and that a snake was not going to be able to fit between the grate - Kirk mentioned that he was probably going to need to saw the grate to get his tools in to work on the pipe and walked me through the process so I knew what was going to happen - He came prepared with the tools, cut the grate, got into the pipes and cleared it out My shower runs the smoothest it's ever run and I cannot thank Kirk enough read more

Hired them for sewer cleaning. They came on time, on budget, came prepared and clean after work were done. Nice guy who know what he is doing. 5 stars. read more

I called Pipe Monkeys to unclog our toilet and Kirk came within 40 minutes as promised over the phone and fixed it in 2 minutes. He didn't make me feel embarrassed for the clog and was kind enough to clean the floor afterwards. We also had a slow draining faucet that could be improved using an enzyme solution that he had but explained that this may be caused by how old our building was. I really appreciate the honesty and his quick service. Would definitely recommend to anyone! read more

Excellent customer service! I called for a quote and the gentleman I spoke with was very honest and professional! I will definitely use this company for any of my plumbing needs! read more

Our bathroom sink was close to being completely clogged. We called Pipe Monkeys Sewer and Drain one late afternoon and made arrangements for the next day. They called us then and asked if they could come a bit earlier than arranged. No problem. The work involved a severe snaking and a section of pipe to be replaced. Soon after, our bathroom sink was clear, and at a reasonable price. If the need arises, we'll call Pipe Monkeys again. read more

I have been waiting a long time to find these guys. Up till now I have been using those cheaper advertised companies who never fixed the problem and who ended up costing a fortune. The moment I called Pipe Monkeys I knew they were different, Kirk answered the phone and was friendly and knowledgeable, and he arrived in less than an hour to fix my drain. Not only did he clear the drain, but made sure it was clean and clear (unlike those other guys), and he took the time to educate me on the nature of the problem and taught me what to do to prevent future problems (unlike those other guys). So, do yourself a favor and call pipe monkeys and get the job done right the first time. read more

I had a bathtub drain issue which lead to toilet and sink drain issues. They were able to trouble shoot despite challenges with the leaking shut off valve. They also found additional issues they fixed and reasonably charged me for the entire job. During covid distancing they were very professional and managed the logistics well. I highly recommend them for your drain and plumbing issues. read more

Our bathroom sink got gradually more clogged over the past few months, with Drano/Liquid Glug/an accordion plunger/zipit drain snakes no longer helping at all. At this point, the sink would fill up and take an hour or two to drain fully, so it was effectively unusable. I messaged Pipe Monkeys, the owner got back to me very quickly, and I called and scheduled an appointment for the next day. They sent out a plumber who arrived on time (especially impressive given there was no parking for several blocks near my building), took a look at the sink, did some tests, and had it snaked and completely fixed within maybe 30 minutes or so. He also explained if that snaking hadn't worked, other tools and options he was ready to use to get the clog fixed. The total cost was $175 + tax. That was a pleasant change from quotes from other plumbing options near me ($200-$350) who had way fewer reviews on yelp and way lower ratings. Overall, 10/10 experience: 10/10 price 10/10 communication/scheduling/arriving as expected 10/10 plumbing services/speed/quality Would definitely recommend without a moment's hesitation! read more

When I had my dishwasher installed a few months back, they said the plumbing underneath the sink was old and rusting and needed to be replaced. I texted Pipe Monkeys and sent some photos. As I was getting the pipes fixed, I figured I might as well replace the kitchen sink too. Kurt came by, and soon figured out that replacing the kitchen sink was going to be a challenge. The old sink was really stuck in and the new sink was just barely big enough for the cut out. Kirk did a nice job, explaining everything along the way. I also asked him to look at our bathroom sink drain while he was there. That was a piece of work too. The previous plumbers had done some crazy stuff. Kirk replaced all that too with a more standard configuration. After he left, I found out that the pipes under the sink were leaking a bit, he came back the next day to fix them. All in all, very happy with his work, responsiveness, customer-focus, and willingness to explain what he was doing. Would definitely use him again! read more

When anything pipe related happens to you, panic can set in. I trusted the Yelp reviews, and boy I'm glad I did. I was able to book something late at night and have someone from these lifesavers come by noon the next day. They let me know the window they'd be arriving at, texted me to let me know they were on their way and once here, proceeded to identify and fix the problem quickly. Highly recommended. I hope to not need to have that feeling of panic again, but having a trusted professional to go to especially when you're panicked is a Godsend. read more

We had a faucet problem in our kitchen- called Pipe Monkeys- within 2 hours we had a new faucet- great help/diagnosis over the phone, and Nick showed up and replaced our faucet in no time!! would definitely recommend!! read more

I used Pipe Monkeys (Kirk) to install an in-line under-sink filter. He gave me information over the phone and helped me to make decisions. He came to my home on-time, wearing a mask and very, VERY polite. He started work immediately after assessing the situation. He involved me in where to place the filter and was very easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend and use them again. read more

The drainpipe under our bathroom sink burst on a Sunday morning, so we needed someone to come out right away. I contacted Kirk and he responded straight away and was at our apartment half an hour later. He was able to fix the issue (based on the photos we'd sent, he had brought exactly the right replacement pipe). He was great - friendly, professional and efficient. As the fix didn't take that long, he asked if there were other issues we needed help with to make the most of the hourly rate. He helped us with a couple of other minor issues gave us advice on how to manage the other issues ourselves. Overall we were very happy with the service and would definitely use Kirk again and recommend him to friends / neighbors. read more

Kirk came today to fix a problem that we had after our refrigerator was installed. He was polite and safe, wearing a mask. He got the job done very quickly and gave us an extremely fair price. He was courteous and thorough. I'd highly recommend this service to anyone! Thanks so much to Kirk and this great company! read more

Pipe Monkeys are amazing!!! They stand by their work! Honorable! Fast curious service reasonable prices. Repair man showed right up fixed our problem. Great service really nice company. I recommend them all the time. I've used them twice. Both times stellar service! Look no further these are your guys! read more

Showed up in a mask and at the top of the wait time window provided. Was quick, thorough, and kept to price quote. Very much appreciated!

Never thought I could say that a company could treat you like family, but that's what Kirk did. Went out of his way to take care of a clogged drain that flooded my elderly parents' home. The flood knocked out the pilot light on my parents' water heater and he came back to troubleshoot it. He was honest enough to let me know that it was a job for a licensed plumber and he referred me to his friend Peter (licensed master plumber-separate review) and followed up with him to make sure I was taken care of. Thankful for the attention he gave my parents in the midst of an emergency that could've gotten much worse. I would recommend him for your job without any hesitation! read more

Life is full of surprises, some of them unpleasant. So it was when one day recently, my toilet began to leak from the base when I flushed. This was very bad. Of course, my landlord was useless, but thankfully these folks were not. Kirk was able to get over quickly and make short work of replacing the wax seal which caused the issue despite the fact that the valve was not working, which meant he was in a race against time essentially. I've had no issues since, and can only speak highly of the great service. If I end up needing plumbing services again, I know who I'll call. read more

Fast service. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend these guys to anyone. I'll be using them in the future

Great customer service...super speedy

Kirk was perfect. Prompt, professional, completed the job carefully and explained everything while he was doing it. He finished early and with the free time gave us an inspection of the plumbing in our house and educated us on how to keep our house problem free. I would absolutely recommend kirk to everyone and i will definitely continue to use kirks services. He is really honest and trustworthy and exactly the kind of person that you want taking care of your home. read more

Kirk was great, we had a kitchen and bathroom clog. He was able to get this un-clogged for us. He always picked my calls when I called with questions. I would recommend him if you need help. read more

I called Pipe Monkeys after reading all the positive reviews here. I was greeted by a very friendly person and was told they would be able to stop by later in the day. A few hours later, I got a call from Kirk letting me know he was on his way. He inspected the issue, told me what he thought was the problem and gave me a price and how long it would take. Not 15 minutes later, he had cleared out the drain backup. He also gave me advice on the things I can do to keep it unclogged. Kirk was a very nice person and overall, this was a very positive experience. I would not hesitate to call him again should I require additional service! read more

OMG! Kirk D. is the best professional plumber that I ever used. I needed to replace my old toilet. He gave me a very reasonable estimate for job. He arrived at my house exactly on the time he promised. Started the work right away. He ran into an unusual problem with the installation and was able to resolve it after he explain me what changes he had to do. He worked for over an hour extra to do the adjustments and he didn't asked me for a penny more then he quoted me. He also disposed the trash and left the bathroom very clean. I would highly recommend Kirk to all my friends and neighbors. He will be my plumber for life. Thank you very much Kirk you are the greatest! read more

They are very responsive and get right on the job. They understand what it takes to get your plumbing back in business and then they bill you afterwards. I like that. read more

I called Kirk for a camera home sewer inspection as part of a home inspection and he was able to accommodate me despite the short notice. He was on time, efficient, and I learned a lot about sewers and sewer maintenence. He even looked at the hot water heater and gave us advice about maintaining it as well. Will use him and is company again in the future as needed. read more

Came same day and resolved my sewer trap problem quickly. Price was fair. He then showed me how to clean the trap myself to avoid the expense of having to call someone in the future. He also gave me excellent advice on options to avoid flooding in my basement when there is a heavy rain (which has been a persistent problem). Honest and knows what he is doing. Highly recommended. read more

Kirk was so pleasant and reassuring. First, he understood our concerns about keeping our family safe from the Corona Virus, and we coordinated our interaction to maintain physical distancing throughout his visit. Second, he understood that our old plumbing needed to be approached with caution, so we were not forced to make a repair that was more extensive than needed. His work was neat and he made sure to disinfect the work area before he left. Kirk responded quickly to our phone call and came when he said he would. His prices were reasonable as well. What more can you ask of a plumber? He is the best! read more

Same on a Saturday morning to fix my constant-running toilet. Nice guys, good service, fair pricing. I recommend them.

Whoa. Kirk was able to field our non emergency call, schedule, and clear a drain for a reasonable fee. You can't ask for more, but I did: I wanted to know what he thought about the plumbing bends and fluid flow and whether we needed to make a bigger repair to avoid the next call. I appreciated the candid response and sensible preventative maintenance advice. read more

Kirk is a very caring and professional business owner. He's a pleasure to work with and I will be calling him for any other issues I have with my pipes. Thanks Kirk for the great job. read more

I had water pouring down from a pipe in my basement, the flooding was intense and I was pretty darn panicked when I looked for a good review for a plumber on Yelp and found Pipe Monkeys. Kirk called me back immediately, came as soon as he could and was here within an hour helping out. After figuring it out that it was a city sewer problem he went ahead and snaked out my pipes and found some other issues he said I could have my regular plumber come and fix, which I will. Kirk is intelligent, polite, together and gets the job done as well as gives you free advice on other things you can do to help the plumbing long-term. I really liked him and would absolutely call him again. read more

The Pipe Monkeys team was great from start to finish. First, they responded to my message right away with an accurate quote, and they gave me an appointment for the next morning (it wasn't an emergency issue, so that was fine). The next day, Kirk kept me informed about his arrival time; when he did get to my apartment, he was helpful and informative. He quickly figured out the source of the leak, went back out to buy some needed parts, and returned promptly to finish fixing it. There were multiple payment options, and paying was easy. I will definitely call them again next time I have a plumbing issue. read more

In spite of the mixed reviews I decided to try Pipe Monkeys, which may be why my results, understandably, are also mixed. On the plus side Kirk was personable enough, diligent and punctual. I had two items that needed to be addressed, both in the tenants bathroom in the apt of my mom's house. The main one was a leak which I assumed was from a worn rubber washer on the valve. The other was a slow drain on the tub. When he came he started on the leak but after changing the washers the leak continued and he said he couldn't fix it because the valve itself was worn and so the whole system would need to be changed. He explained what it would require and the estimate of how much it would cost and then gave his suggestions of what he thought should be done. He then snaked the tub being careful to give the disclaimer that if they were old pipes they may break but that he would be careful. Luckily and due to his care the pipes did not break and he was successful. So Kirk was able to improve the flow and the tenants have since reported that there was a noticeable difference. So very pleased w/the work. The complaint I would have is w/his pricing. I contacted Kirk a week before and he said he would look @ it and made an appt. The day before he came he called to verify the appt and to give me a quote. He said he'd have to see about the leak but it would probably be about $250-$300. When I asked him if this just for the leak he said that that was the price for both. The price for unstopping the drain was $175 but if he was also able to stop the leak then it would then be around $250-$300. This seemed reasonable. I also asked what manner of payment he accepted; he said cash, check or credit card. I also asked if he provided a receipt (which I need to file for taxes) to which he answered: 'of course!" When he finished the job I told my mom, who had said beforehand that she wanted to pay by check. I told Kirk and he said that actually w/first-time customers he preferred a credit card. He then said it would be $299. In the confusion and since my mom who is 97 wasn't understanding the situation she handed over her credit card and Kirk processed the payment. It was later when I was reading my notes did I realize that he had said the price to snake the drain was $175 but IF he also fixed the leak it would be $275-$300. So I'm not sure if there was a misunderstanding. Or if he ultimately thought the replacing of the washers (which I provided) warranted the full price; or if he suddenly raised his price for the snaking. but for this reason I believe his prices were not reasonable. It reinforces the fear of getting workers like plumbers and the reason why many people hesitate: because not only is it expensive but then the problem isn't solved anyway. It doesn't help either that workers are hesitant to to give you an estimate. The whole system of comparing quotes is an illusion since when Yelp submitted the job for quotes not one of 8 companies responded w/a quote. So for what it's worth Pipe Monkeys does do professional successful work but there can be problems w/the pricing. read more
