Tom's Plumbing and Repair Too

We shut off our main and drained all the lines until I could get help repairing the line(s). I called a plumber or two that night and left messages requesting emergency service. Monday morning (raining again) while I was at work in Olympia, my wife found out that most Lewis County plumbers were not available until Friday or later. She did an internet search, found Tom's Plumbing Repair on YELP.com, and gave him a call. He scheduled us for Tuesday at 9:00 AM. I scheduled the day off from work to lend any assistance I could. On Tuesday (still raining) Tom and his assistant, Sam, showed up on time. They were friendly, focused, thorough and seemed very genuine. After listening to my story, they went straight to work. Together they found and replaced not just one, but four (4) gnawed sections of pipe. We tested the line a few times, and my house was back in business at 10:00 AM! Tom charged about a third of what I expected to pay! Plus he and Sam shared with me a very valuable tip: IF YOU USE PLASTIC PLUMBING LINES IN YOUR BUILDING, NEVER PLACE RODENT POISONS INSIDE ENCLOSED SPACES. Traps are good, as you will want to see and remove the kill. But poisons can cause trouble indoors. The rats/mice who eat it will desperately want to quench their thirst, even if it means chewing through your plastic pipes to get at the rushing water. LEAVE THE POISONS TO OUTDOOR USE ONLY! Thank you, Tom! Thank you, Sam! I wish you a thriving, successful business!

Started out with small jobs and then we had him re-plumb our whole house. (Plumbing was in the ceiling and we had it all moved to under the house). They have always done a great job for us. Last Saturday, I had a copper pipe burst at the hot water tank. I of course called Tom. Since he is not open on the weekends, but I called him. While I waiting for him to return my call, I called other plumbing companies. Only one place was open and I was told no one could help me until Monday. Tom called me back after just a few minutes. Although he was not open and is not scheduled for emergency services, he came right over. Tom said he could hear to panic in my voice and could not turn me away, he had to help. Tom is my superhero! He is customer focused and cares about a job well done. Tom and Brian have a customer for life!

From there, David Griffis took the time to provide thorough information and answer all of our questions. He was consistently helpful, knowledgeable, and highly professional throughout the entire process. Melissa did an excellent job coordinating and scheduling the installation team. One aspect of their communication that particularly stood out was the consistent updates provided through both text and email, including photographs of the technicians and notifications regarding their arrival times. This level of professionalism and customer service was truly impressive. Brian and his assistant arrived promptly, conducted themselves courteously, and completed the split unit installation efficiently and professionally. Joshua, the electrician, and his assistant then completed the electrical work seamlessly. Overall, this team of professionals provided us with an outstanding temperature control system that we will greatly enjoy in our sunroom. To further demonstrate their appreciation for their customers, they even sent us a thoughtful gift afterward. We highly recommend them.

I made an appointment online (a huge mistake) to investigate draining my water heater and replacing the sacrificial anode rod. The first inkling that something was wrong was when I was not given an approximate arrival time. The day of service I used their chat feature (100% AI I'm sure) to try and narrow a time down and was told I'd get a call from the office about a time, but no one called. Then we called their office number (and again 100% AI I'm sure) we were again told we'd get a call from the office, but again, it never happened. This must be a common complaint because checking on arrival times is one of the numeric options when you get the menu. That menu option told me the visit would occur between 11 AM and 11 PM! Really? So disappointing. At 2:50 the technician called to give me a 25-minute heads up he was on his way. When he got here, he informed me that the cost to drain the water heater was over $1,000 and that that did not include the anode rod. I couldn't believe it. With an average lifespan of 8-12 years and almost 6 yrs already gone by, I didn't feel it was worth a $1,000 gamble that we'd be extending the lifespan of the heater. I declined the service. I think information about the cost of water heater flushing should have been shared with me before the appointment. Someone should have picked up the phone and warned me about the exorbitant cost of flushing a water heater. But maybe Springer is in a position where the $129 service fee is worth more to them than repeat business. If you make an appointment with Springer, call them (don't book online) and ask if they have any idea of the cost of your needed service before they come to you. Also, be prepared to remain a hostage in your home for the day.
