Cowtown Winery was a great little find during my visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards! The location…read moreis on the smaller side, but it has a welcoming atmosphere and, most importantly, a genuinely friendly staff. I decided to try one of their frozen wines. I can't remember the exact flavor I ordered, but it was delicious--and I really appreciated that the staff member offered me a sample before I committed to the full-size drink. That small touch made the experience feel much more personal and customer-focused. With so many spots around the Stockyards serving beer, it was refreshing to have a different option. The frozen wine was a perfect choice for a warm Texas day, and I'd definitely make Cowtown Winery a stop on my next visit. Definitely worth stopping in if you're exploring the Stockyards!

The tour came with a glass of wine (or another drink if you prefer), which made the whole thing feel like a fun night out instead of just a history walk. The guide clearly knew her stuff and had a great sense of timing and storytelling. I actually made a list of things that I wanted to look up later, because the stories were that interesting. Highly recommend. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

The crab claws were TO DIE FOR, but that 24 Layer Cake, JoJo's Strawberry stole the show. I said it then and I'll stand on it now: that cake was the best thing I ate in 2021. Great food, sexy vibe, great ambiance. Definitely due for another visit. Palate don't lie. ‍

It's not a bad place. Food was good. Waitress was friendly. Prices way too high…read more Seems like a Dallas thing. Every nicer restaurant has a posted dress code. We all know who it's meant for (wink, wink) but still makes you wonder if they'll give you a hard time just to eat there. We ordered drinks. My menu (which are huge) accidentally knocked over my full drink. Surprisingly, the glass broke from just being tipped over on the table which has a pad under the table cloth. Anyway, the waitress offers to bring me a new drink and cleans up the mess. We finish our meal and get the check. We received two bills. The main bill and a bonus bill for the replacement drink. WTF. Surprised they didn't charge me for the broken glass. So I paid for that too. Sucks for the waitress because the extra money would have gone to her tip as a thank you for cleaning up the spill. The valet is free but there's a code to use if you would like to tip. Sure, here's $10. Only it's not $10. There's a service charge of almost 30%. So now it's $13. Lord knows if the valet crew even see any of this money but who carries cash anymore? In the end, it's not the worse place to go but way too expensive and way too tacky to ever go back.

Fantastic Family Fun -- and Beware of the Claw Machines!…read more For our grandson's 9th birthday, we decided to venture to Cidercade Fort Worth, and what a fantastic choice! Admission was $12 per person, and nearly all the arcade games are included with admission. Play as much as you want! We easily spent 3-4 hours here, and everyone had a great time. With the Texas temperatures blazing outside, an air-conditioned arcade was also a pretty darn good place to spend the afternoon! There is a huge selection of games with plenty for both kids and adults. Basketball, racing, classic arcade games--you can wander around for hours. Then my son-in-law discovered the claw machines. Once he started, it snowballed into stuffed toy after stuffed toy. By the time he was finished, we had enough stuffed animals spread across the table to open our own toy store! Be warned, though: the claw machines are NOT included with admission and you pay separately to play. Apparently nobody bothered explaining that to my son-in-law before he went into full claw-machine domination mode! We also ordered pizza, and it was very good. It's a thin-crust style, loaded with toppings and made for a perfect break between games. Of course, with a name like Cidercade, we had to sample the cider! There were plenty of choices, and the ones we tried were very good. For $12 admission and several hours of entertainment, I think Cidercade is an outstanding value. More importantly, our grandson had a fantastic birthday outing and the entire family enjoyed themselves. Great games, good pizza, plenty of cider and a table full of stuffed animals we somehow had to get home. That's a successful birthday! Definitely a 5-star experience for us!

Parking can be…read morea little tricky since the available parking is across the street, and once the crowds roll in, it can get pretty packed. Getting there early also gives you plenty of time to explore and choose your favorite games before you have to compete with the weekend crowd. I really like that there are separate game rooms, along with a variety of food options and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Overall, this is a pretty cool arcade establishment. In my opinion, the atmosphere and game selection seem to cater more toward adults, which makes it a fun spot for grown-ups looking for something different to do.
