Piola was our first meal in Buenos Aires, it's a pizza joint basically. It was recommended by a friend who raved about it. The waiter was attentive, friendly, we ordered 2 large pizzas. I had a basil, ham and mushroom large pizza, and the other large was a prosciutto, arugula and Brie cheese. The pizzas were huge but had way too much stuff on them. The pizza for some reason tasted undercooked, maybe because of the abundance of arugula on 1 pizza and the abundance of basil on the other. We couldn't finish our pizzas so we took them to go. The next day after reheating them in the stove they still tasted so-so. The atmosphere in Piola is great, the vibe is way cool. And the space is huge, we sat in the back section, by the outdoor area. Everyone seemed to have a good time, but I did notice people taking to go pizza just like we did. Hmmm. Since we went to Piola for the food, not the atmosphere that's the reason for the 2 stars. The place would get 4 stars if we were there to drink alcohol and enjoy the ambiance and have pizza to eat. I'd be drunk enough to not care about the taste then. read more
