So of course, when I went to Pal Campo Restaurant, I had to order the paella. I didn't dine in this time, I grabbed it to go. First impression? They definitely got my attention because there was a big ol' lobster sitting right on top! Now THAT is how you introduce me to a plate of paella. The flavor was really good, the seafood was good, and overall I enjoyed it. My one issue was the peppers and onions. There were a LOT of big chopped pieces that I could clearly see and taste, and for me, that was a little bit of a turnoff. I prefer everything in my paella to blend together a little more. But did that stop me from eating it? Absolutely not. And here's the funny part. I ate the leftovers the next day and somehow it tasted even better! Maybe everything just needed a night to get acquainted because that second-day paella was hitting. So, as your self-appointed traveling paella inspector, I'm giving this one a 8/10. The flavor was there. The lobster definitely earned some extra points. I just needed those peppers and onions to calm down a little bit.

For dinner I had the pollo relleno with arroz con gandules. The pollo was stuffed with cheese, plantains, and ham, topped with a garlic cream sauce. Sooooo good! I would definitely go back if I am ever in Orlando again.

This is a perfect example of how exceptional customer service can turn an already good experience…read moreinto a great one. We drove over 30 minutes specifically because we had our hearts set on trying their bacalaitos appetizer, only to arrive and find out they were sold out. Thankfully, dinner itself was absolutely delicious, so we were still very happy with our meal. When it came time for dessert, however, our crème brûlée wasn't executed as it should have been. Our server, Maira, explained that they were having trouble caramelizing the sugar. Unfortunately, it wasn't successful, and we ultimately had to send it back. What stood out to us was how the staff handled the situation. Maira immediately and sincerely apologized and, without hesitation, told us the dessert would be removed from our check. Shortly afterward, the restaurant manager, Ramon, came over personally to apologize as well. Then came the surprise: the bacalaitos we had originally come for had finally arrived. Ramon told us and went a step further by giving us an order to take home. He absolutely did not have to do that. The restaurant had already handled the dessert issue appropriately and had done the right thing. But he chose to go above and beyond. That kind of service is becoming increasingly rare, and we truly appreciated it. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the service was exceptional. So, every time we're in Orlando, this restaurant will now be an automatic pit stop for us. Sometimes, it's not about everything being perfect. It's about how a business responds when something isn't. And this team handled it exactly right.
