The right amount of cheese. Crispy & acidic pickles. A tangy but not overpowering mustard. I had crispy salted plantains, but a soft thin center. Washed it down with a Coke. I was with a friend. But nobody bothered speaking as good eating is business. On wooden tables by a food truck, hot day, near the airport. Incredible food, but service took awhile I came here around lunch time and ordered a Cuban and 2 smoothies. They told me it would be about 15 minutes, but in reality it took about 45 minutes for my food to come. I wouldn't have minded as much if they would have just said 45 minutes from the start. There was another group waiting and I overheard them mention nearly missing their flight at the airport. Just be aware and order ahead of time if possible. The food itself was incredible. When in Florida, you gotta have some Cuban food! Glad to have found Cubans on Wheels when we had a bit of a layover in Orlando. The gentleman who took my order was friendly and helpful. We got a medianoche and the Cuban sandwich. In hindsight, we should have ordered more different sandwiches, since it was just the bread that was different! Regardless, the sandwiches were delicious and generously filled with roasted pork, mustard, Swiss cheese, etc. Yucca fries were perfect - crispy on the outside, starchy on the inside. The gentleman also recommended sweet plantains and they were a wonderful complement to the heavy, savory sandwiches. There's outside seating near the food truck and next to the adjacent liquor store. I was looking for a lunch spot near the airport when I spotted Cubans on Wheels. It did not disappoint! My sister met hubby and I before our flight on a Thursday evening. We all ordered the Cuban sandwich. Her and I chose sweet plantains as the side and hubby got the tostones. The Cuban sandwich was very good! The bread was authentic and perfectly pressed. They added plenty of Cuban pork, ham, and Swiss cheese. Both the sweet plantains and the tostones were excellent. I loved the cilantro sauce on the side. We enjoy our lunch behind the food truck at one of the picnic tables. Hubby wanted a little something sweet so we ordered the guava milkshake on our way out. Wow was it tasty! This spot is worth the hype. We stopped in for dinner. It was a short evening walk from our hotel. The potions are large. They have outdoor seating. The wait in the food is fairly short. We have enough for lunch tomorrow. One of the best Cuban sandwiches ever! I lived in Tampa for 27 years and consider myself a connoisseur of the Cuban sandwich. I moved to Georgia recently and when people ask what I miss my answer is always good Cuban food. It starts with the right bread. I asked and they get theirs from La Segunda which is the right answer. Last month when visiting Kiddo and he picked us up at MCO and found you on Yelp. We order vegetarian bowls and 3 veggie empanadas! Everything was perfect from the lovely crunch of the empanadas and they were flavorful. The guys love their Veggie Bowls!! We also ordered 2 delicious Mamey Shakes. Several people told me about this truck and now I know why. The truck is behind Denny's on S. Semaron so make sure you don't pass it. To the side of the truck they have some seating to eat outside. The size of the sandwich and the amount of meat you get in the sandwich is a great value. Not only is it a hefty size sandwich but it truly has all the authentic Cuban palomilla flavors in every bite. I normally don't eat con gris but I decided to try their version and I was pleasantly surprised. It was rich in flavor and the rice was really soft. They have several different menu items to choose from and even their own take on Mac and cheese with different kinds of meat, which I will be trying next time. I know a few have annotated the price as being high but the sandwich is double the size of most so it is well worth it. The Cuban Sandwich was nearly 1 lb and it became both my lunch amd a light dinner due to the size of it. The price includes a choice of side amd I went with the sweet plantain that were nice and tender and just sweet enough to be both savory and touch that need for a sweet treat at the same time. The staff was nice and friendly and it took about 10 minutes from ordering to getting my food with one order in front of mine. The food came out piping hot where I had to not hold the bottom of the container which is a good problem to have. First time trying this Cuban spot and I can't believe how AMAZING it was. Im normally not a huge fan of Cuban food because people normally screw it up but this Cuban on wheels deserves a 10/10. Lady taking orders is clearly asleep at the wheel. It's been 20 minutes. She's sitting there picking on her phone and so i asked how my order is coming along. She called over to them. They said 05 more minutes there's not enough people here to be busy enough to forget my order. these people suck with service. ok now she's reacting to the review faster than i got the food. update here. i never ordered the pizza, that was the lady in front of me who was waiting in her car. i almost just asked for my money back to bail but then the food came while another guy was ordering. lady knew i was waiting and irritated and passed me the food. i ordered the tostones. picture shows 4 pieces, they give five. weird. asked for 3 beef 2 pork. received 3 pork and 2 beef. another service misstep. i asked for rice and beans on the side. lady asked if i wanted the small or the large and showed me the sizes. i said the large and specified combined. not sure if i was charged correctly but it came 2 items 1 large rice and 1 large beans (not combined). extra food i guess? Again bottom line service is lame. I want my tip back. So let's get down to the actual food. Pork is OK. Wouldn't call it great it's basically roast pork not much flavor. They do put a couple grilled onions on top which adds a minor amount of flavor. There were no sauces offered by the way no hot sauce or anything to enhance the dishes and there was nothing put out that people could grab sauce wise. The beef ones actually were good but again I only got two of those instead of three so not happy about that. It is the better dish of the two. It comes with a green olive to add to the flavor profile, but overall Tostones, I'm gonna give it like a three on a five scale maybe a 2.5. As for the rice and beans, the rice and beans were actually fabulous possibly the best rice and beans I've ever had. Gonna give those five out of five stars. All in I'm about 30 bucks for a very slow outside dining experience. Would I go here again absolutely not for 30 bucks I can get a full meal with possibly a drink around the corner of Chili's with fantastic service for the same price read more
