Hobby Crafters - More toys for tots!

Came here for a team building event. They have been making toys for kids since 1944!…read more They are always in need of volunteers year round. Every person that came through the doors was whistling while I waited for the rest of my crew! These folks do this strictly on a volunteer basis. No one is paid. This shop literally, runs like a well oiled machine. The area is extremely clean. It is larger inside then the appearance it gives from the outside. They make lots of wooden toys. I was amazed at the toys they offer for kids to play with. Any kid would love to have these toys! I enjoyed playing with them myself while I was there! These guys work on making these toys 3 days a week every week till Christmas. They've been making Christmas happen for kids since the 1940's. That is pretty amazing and actually a long time to be doing this for free. A little history on Hobby Crafters: Hobby Crafters Foundation was founded in 1944 by Dr. Arch McNeill. While making a house call he noted a patients Christmas tree was empty of gifts. Seeing the need for some Christmas spirit, the doc offered to craft some toys for her to give out to the needy kids at Christmas time. He got together with friends and patients, telling them of his plans to spread Christmas They worked week after week to provide the disadvantaged children in Trinity Bottoms with a handmade wooden toy for Christmas. Dr. McNeill began to enlist the help of friends and associates, and the number of toys that were produced increased rapidly. The group originally called themselves "The Saints and Sinners". Since then, an everchanging group of dedicated volunteers has kept the legacy alive! Please come participate with these wonderful "elves". Worth every moment you spend time doing something good! 2021/August

Cool frame store located off Mockingbird Lane. I came here looking to have several items framed,…read morebut only decided on having one done ultimately. I was considering getting a jersey framed here, but decided on someone else who specializes in jerseys instead. Otherwise, I would've likely got it done here as well, especially for the price they quoted me. The item I did have framed here was a portrait. Overall, I was left satisfied with the craftsmanship of the frame. Also, I was definitely impressed with the service and time it took to get it back to me as well!

I'm a professional with a lot of experience getting artwork framed and Art & Frame Expo has…read moresurpassed all of my expectations. I've had some disappointing (to say the least) surprises at other frame shops so I'm always hesitant to trust them. E.g.- Once someone cut off the deckled edge of a linocut print. Another shop decided that the wooden frame that I picked out needed to be touched up with red "accent" paint. (Neither of these choices were previously discussed with me.) Having artwork framed should be straightforward, easy, and ultimately you need to know that your items will be kept safe and that the integrity of the piece will not be compromised. So when I relocated to Dallas I took a couple of prints in to test the waters and now I fully trust Art & Frame Expo with anything! I've been going here for years. At this point I've taken well over a dozen items in for framing and I've found them to be nothing but professional. I'm always excited to work with them and trust their opinion as well. Customer service is top notch! They do beautiful, high quality work and for those that think it's too expensive, all I can say is- you get what you pay for.

Work was fine, but they were two weeks late (had to push out my movers pick up date... tried to…read moredelay another 2 weeks but I stressed the need to have it this week). Then, tried to charge me more money bc they claimed their supplier messed up (the reason for the extra money kept changing). I actually paid it but they ended up calling me to refund it when I asked them to text me a reason for the additional payment (again, their story kept changing so I wanted a firm reason as I was splitting the cost with someone else). My guess is this is a family business. Everyone was very friendly and their work was good, but the delay, then subsequently asking me for more money without a consistent explanation, was surprising. (I wonder if they just started working on it the days before delivery and realized they didn't have the right frame and tried to off load the last minute shipping costs to me)

I brought three vintage posters to this shop a few weeks ago to get framed. During drop off, I made…read moreit very clear that these were irreplaceable, as they're originals that belonged to my mother who had recently passed away. In fact, one of the workers on staff pointed out how valuable the posters were. On the original pickup date, they called to let me know that one of the three was not done, because they were waiting for parts to come in. After an extra week of waiting, they returned the final poster with some sort of paint/putty splotched on the last print. I'm assuming they delayed getting the poster back because they were trying to repair it. My irreplaceable print was not only returned behind schedule, but is now ruined. I'm starting to wonder if this is even the original print. The contrast and coloring is off, and given the delay getting the poster back, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they either ruined the original or sold it off.
