Instead of speaking with me directly and handling the situation professionally, she refused to get on the phone and had the cashier act as the middleman the entire time. To make matters worse, I was told that if I brought the cake back to the store, they would provide me with a replacement. I specifically explained that I wasn't sure how much of the cake would be left by the time we could get there, and I was told that it was fine and to bring it anyway. After making the trip to the store, despite the original mistake being theirs, they refused to honor what I had been promised. Instead of replacing the incorrect cake as agreed, they offered only a discount on another cake. So, not only did I receive a cake that was not as advertised, but I was also given conflicting information, treated disrespectfully, and made to waste my time traveling to the store based on a promise they ultimately refused to keep. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What is unacceptable is how a business chooses to handle them. The lack of accountability, communication, and basic customer service was incredibly disappointing. A manager should be willing to speak directly with an unhappy customer and work toward a reasonable solution, not hide in the background while an employee is forced to relay messages. To make matters even worse, I have since tried calling the store twice more to address this situation, and they have now stopped answering my calls altogether. Completely ignoring a customer instead of taking responsibility and attempting to resolve an issue is unacceptable. I expected better from Paris Baguette.
