The owner (I am assuming her name is Kym) was very helpful, as were her daughter and son who were helping her out. They gave advice during the session, and brought fresh water to rinse paintbrushes. They came with more paint when we requested it. They also helped us blowdry the canvasses. It was the instructor's first time and he did great. I am not an artist and don't consider myself creative, so I was a bit nervous, but it turned out just fine. You can book and pay online, after choosing the day by whatever painting you want to create. All you need to bring is your own wine; they have available corkscrews and stemless glasses. I look forward to returning to create more art!

It was getting within a week of the date and I still didn't get a confirmation. I called the place AT LEAST 12 times and sent 2 emails and still no response, because the mailbox was full and nobody ever answered the phone. Since I was bringing 8 people, I needed to confirm. So I drove to the place (which was supposed to be open, but was closed) and left a note, written on a napkin (saying PLEASE CALL AND CONFIRM) and placed it under a rock in front of the door. I spent at least an hour, if not more, trying to confirm this party. After the note, I finally got a phone call. NO APOLOGIES for the inconvenience were given. The person just said that there phones weren't working. Additionally, the painting instructor was very kind, but young and NOT VERY INSTRUCTIVE. She said, "Paint flowers at the bottom." Well, I want to know HOW to paint flowers! My painting looked like a 5 year old. When I went to another studio in Worthington about a year ago, I left with a beautiful painting because the instructor gave us all very detailed instructions and SHOWED us how to paint, instead of TELLING us what to paint. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

Outside you'll see lots of young, and not so young, artists painting on huge canvases lined up to look like one big Wall. (best to come early to see them in action before piece is completed) I'll describe it as graffiti lite but that's disputable. Anyway, great to look at art, artists and appreciate eclectic art scene. They have food trucks, beer trucks and alcohol sales. OYO was doing good business. And with the DJ spinning tunes ...... It was picture perfect. If you want more, you can stroll through the artist warehouse and visit individual studios. This is a great time to shop and talk to interesting folks. Also, the junior scrawl is located here. Kids are having a blast. In fact, there were lots of kids. Some with parents and some without. Good for all age groups. It's a two day free event. They do accept donations. IDs are required for wristband if planning to drink alcohol. Speaking of drinking, the festival is directly behind Strongwater restaurant & bar. Land Grant brewery and Rehab bar are two other popular drinking spots across the street. All good reasons to stay awhile and plan to come back again to next year's festival.

The Ohio Art League is another of my favorite galleries in Columbus. When I first moved here, I…read morereally wanted to work there. OAL is a non-profit gallery that hosts a new exhibit each month. The content is always varied and fresh in every sense of the word. The art here has a new perspective. I think they feature a lot of young visionaries. OAL is great at organizing Ohio Artists. They have a huge roster of members, and they send them tons of information about exhibition opportunities. If you're in need of an artist or artists, you can link up with OAL too. OAL's big fundraiser of the year is a silent auction/party called One Night. It just happened in early October. I agree with Michael U. One of the best shows this year was the Saints, Sinners, Kings, and Criminals. There were all these neon colored painting of recognizable faces like Michael Jackson, Alf, and Queen Elizabeth. Each piece captured the imperfections of its subject. It was fantastic. Another cool and recent exhibition was Empirical Phenomena. The pieces looked like 3D graffiti art. On Hop nights OAL has wine, cheese, and other finger foods. The gallery is always packed on Hops. If you want a more intimate escape, stop by on a week day; you'll have the place to yourself. The gallery worker's area is behind one of the gallery's walls, so you don't feel like anyone is watching you either, which is my main peeve with docents. I can't wait to see what's coming down the pipe.

I've seen two exhibits here. The first was a blown glass exhibit by Matt McCormick. Excellent work, and his glass blown drums that light up when played sent me into a spiral of new ideas. The second was the present exhibit, Glimpse by Brian Duran and Tina Matthews. Again, excellent work that inspired me with a new approach. The work is predominantly young and fresh, the gallery itself is developed to support evolving young artists.
