I decided to get a private beginner ceramics lesson for my mom and I as something fun to do. The private lessons and classes are really affordable! The staff was very quick responding to all inquiries and questions before my class. Our teacher Alexis was so helpful and friendly. She first did a demonstration and then walked us through all of the steps. In our 1 hour private lesson we really learned a lot about the basics. Starting from scratch you definitely won't be able to make any masterpiece in just an hour class. At the end of the class you can recycle your clay, have your creation fired with a glaze for a little bit extra, or come back for another class to glaze it yourself. They have open studio for very low rates an hour, you can use their clay and wheels. There definitely seems to be a community of artists who use this space. But even as a beginner I felt very welcome here. My mom and I are both excited to go back! I would highly recommend this place.

They're always ready to answer any questions you may have about any of the pieces on exhibit. Most of the work is available for purchase and there's so many mediums to choose from: sculpture, paintings, photography, etc. What makes the collective special is that you're viewing art from LOCAL artists and all of them are truly down to earth. You can see the love and passion they have for visual arts in their collective of original works. Keep in mind that they have many events throughout the year and open themselves to the community frequently. You don't have to be a "member" to witness the pure talent here. There's no stone-cold snobbish entities within these walls. These artists are personable, full of joy and zest. You want to be around them. You want to witness their processes. Hyde Park is known for the obvious: The Culinary Institute, The Drive-In & FDR (of course). That has changed. The Collective is here.

We had an incredible dining experience so we knew the next day, the wedding day, that the food would be delicious. First and foremost, the venue itself is stunning - featuring gorgeous marbling and chandeliers, in addition to a beautiful balcony type area outside - where the reception was held, in addition to ample seating and great photo ops with the bridge over the water. The food at cocktail hour was exceptional. Our bride and groom had a carving station, pasha station and crudite in addition to passed hors d'oeuvres. My favorites were the mini tacos - so fresh - with a margarita shot, the coconut shrimp, the penne vodka and the sushi! The venue where the reception was, was stunning! It was connected to the same room we had the cocktail hour, featuring a beautiful stone backdrop wall, a huge marble dance floor and gorgeous oval tables. The venue was stunning, the servers and wait staff were so incredibly friendly, hospital and accommodating and the food was delicious!
