How can i forget Women's Studio Workshop???…read more There's no way I could gush enough praise of this place that would come close to describing how wonderful it is! gosh, where do i start?? 1) The studios: They transformed an old hardware store from the 1800s into a two story art studio that includes areas for: paper-making, printmaking, letter pressing, bookbinding, ceramics, photography and silk screening. It's set in the woods and surrounded by nature 1 mile outside the small, Hudson Valley town of Rosendale, NY. 2) The artist opportunities: They offer fellowships, studio rentals, residencies, paid-internships and grants for artists (mainly women, but not exclusively female) to come use their studios and create work. --- I, myself, was accepted as a studio intern and lived and worked on the premises for 6 months in the fall of 2005. I feel ripped off. I do not recommend…read more I was told the incorrect billing information despite two phone calls to inquire on this before registering. Once I signed up, the invoices began to come much in more expensive than had been shared. The masking policy was misrepresented as well. I was told one thing on the phone before registration and fund another thing upon our arrival to the first class. This was important to my decision to register. I was told that make up sessions would be applied to the account for any missed classes and that those would never expire. I was also told that adjusting regular sessions to other days in the week was allowable with notice if needed without penalty. However, when I did this last month for November, they marked it as use of make up sessions and will not adjust. So they are stealing from me as I paid for those sessions but will not allow me to use them as indicated. I paid for December sessions and planned to use make ups for others. I have now been told I should take my kids someplace else. I have not been refunded my December payment and my kids will have had no lessons. I was not allowed to watch the services being provided to my children and have no idea what they have learned. I had to wait in the car. When I asked, I was given a hand written, undated, unsigned page with some note about what the kids were to have learned. In two months, my oldest does not even know a scale on the piano. I don't know that my kids received any music lesson services. This company uses unclear and poor communication, does not honor its word and seems to want to take payments but not provide the services.

So many fantastic, working artists and then me; untrained with only a desire to create. I couldn't have been more welcomed receiving suggestions, directions and good old fashioned comradery. To the right of the school building, there's a "Welcome to our Sculpture Park and Nature Tail" sign but not much nearby. Yep, the nature trail part and you'll end up walking at least a half mile and maybe more before you start to spot the sculptures on a trail that branches off to the right. If you're here in the warmer weather, you'll want to be prepared with some bug repellent spray as they were all around us today. But we managed to find the sculptures and enjoyed the trail.
