I ordered a gluten free pizza. And toppings. The glutten free crust came in a premaid frozen tin.. which tgey placed still on the tin in the box. Sparce on toppings and cheese charge largely for any and all extra toppings. Ordered a salad. It came in a flimsy 4 inch plastic container and filled mostly with iceburg lettuce. And 1 thin slice of cheesecut in 4 tiny slices. A slice of tomato and a few of olives and chagred me extra for cartons. It came with salami. But i didnt want that. No discount. It has two slices of salami and two slices of ham, a tiny bit of lettuce, a tiny bit of diced tomatoes and some slivered red onions. DO NOT GET the COLD Italian unless you like bland bread sandwich. I jazzed it up at home with pepperoni jalapeño pickled hot peppers & vinegar. The bread is WONDERFUL AFTER YOU TOAST IT. *The onion rings are big, crispy, and amazing! Pino's is under new management as of 3 months ago. Tonight we decided to try Pino's again for the first time in awhile. The last time we were here, it had been AMAZING. Nothing like gas station food. This time was considerably different. 5 stars to the staff for politeness! We ordered and the menu said we could get fried flounder, french fries, and broccoli for around $14. The 'special' on the board was 'fried fish and fries' for around $13. I asked if the special fried fish was the flounder and the owner (?) replied, "It's frozen. We thaw it and fry it." Um...? When the food came to our table EVERYTHING was deep fried except the stromboli, the bread, and the broccoli. I asked our waitress if they had vinegar (for the fish), she told me yes, then brought me Italian salad dressing. I asked if the salad dressing was supposed to be the vinegar I requested and was told, "Yes." They do not appear to have cocktail sauce. They ran out of tea (we each had one glass with no refills). The owner came out and offered us a refill of 'something else' after they took our glasses to refill them (and they were not even empty yet! The fry oil needs to be replaced. They need to cook everything to a standard that is not "fried". We ate the french fries. My husband ate ONE ring of calamari and said it was pure rubber (overcooked). I gave the extra star for the fact that this place had set my standards very high on previous visits considering they are in a gas station. Now it is barely gas station quality. read more

I walked in unannounced at the busy pick-up time, and every one of the staff was wearing masks, not hanging on one ear or below the nose but proper covering. They are busy, it's hot, and sometimes they have to shout through the masks to be heard nearly. Thank you, Pinos Staff, for caring about your customers. I've never been a huge subscriber in the belief that dives really did have the best food (aside from pulled pork bbq) but this place is amazing. It's located beside a Pizza Hut and tacked onto a Shell gas station. I've actually not had their pizza, but their Italian is better than what you'll get at 'another popular Italian joint' located just down the road. My wife had the baked spaghetti and I got the stuffed shells. Both came out of the kitchen piping hot, but not overcooked. The garlic knots were fantastic. I probably could have just eaten those as a meal. Both my wife and I walked away with leftovers for just $13... can't beat that. The exterior of this place is deceptive. It's tacked onto a gas station, but the interior could be any stand alone Italian restaurant. The owners and staff did an amazing job transforming this place from a 'dive' to a legitimate restaurant. Parking can be a bit of a challenge during rush-times. Don't park at the Pizza Hut or they'll actually chase you down to yell at you (they did to us and some friends of ours, anyway). There are spots located in front, on the side, and in the rear of the business. Some signage might be useful for the owners to look into. read more

Okay so it's not terrible, but it's nothing to write home about either. Been twice. First time the pizza was definitely better than the second, but still just - mediocre. The waitress/server was awesome. She was friendly and helpful and had a lot of great things to say about the food. Even though I don't agree with her taste in food, her customer service was on point and she's the only reason they get a 3 star review. So - these pizzas have hardly any sauce at all. The crust is a little more doughy than I care for, but the cheese is yummy. ;) We also had the toasted 3 meat raviolis. Um...no thanks. They tasted like they were drown in Progresso Italian bread crumbs. The marinara you're given to dip them in was relatively sweet, barely warm, and without any real taste of any seasoning. Oh - the man that came out of the back with our food, who seems to be the owner...zero personality. Rude to the waitress and dismissive of us both. I stopped at the attached gas station when I saw this place. I was apprehensive given the outside appearance, and I'm so glad I checked the yelp reviews and went in. Looks nicer inside than it appears on the outside. The staff were super friendly and attentive. I had a hard time choosing what to get, given the delish looking choices. I asked the server to help me choose bw the lasagna and chicken parmigana sub. She said the lasagna was very popular and confirmed for me that it contained only beef (no pork). He went with the small cheese pizza and she advised that pizza took a bit more time. The lasagna was served w 3 garlic knots and was so yummy!!! His small pizza was the biggest small pizza I've ever seen! I included a pic. It was $7.50 and could have easily fed us both! We will surely return here when we next drive through. The pizza is alright, appetizers when frozen and cooked can't really be anything than expected, but the chicken marsala my husand did not enjoy and ended up throwing most of it away (we ordered to go). My wife, 19-month-old son, and I stopped here for a quick bite on our way up the backroads in the pouring rain and terrible visibility. We could not have been made to feel more welcomed and enjoyed the friendliest service ever. TJ was our waiter; he and the others just doted on our little one, who was being a bit rambunctious. TJ even went next door to the gas station and bought him a small stuffed animal. (Where in the world could you expect that?!) The food was delicious--we had the mozza sticks, sausage and pepper sub, and cheeseburger. TJ made a pot of coffee to help us warm up. This restaurant is adjacent to a Shell filling station - I think they share restrooms. Very similar to a gas station sandwich shop (still has Christmas lights and desperately needs painted). Very confused about the extensive Italian menu that includes seafood dishes, at this point, would make me very nervous. Ordered cheeseburger and fries and my husband ordered antipasto salad. No temp was requested on the burger (one size fits all). Frozen, dusted fries if u like those - we don't. Salad was on the small size for sure. Server was kind and efficient. I guess I'm just providing a heads up if you are traveling like us and looking for a nice 4.5 star meal - nothing fancy, but nice and fresh. This will not make you happy. My husband and I discovered this wonderful Italian restaurant en route from Baltimore to Williamsburg a couple years ago. What a secret of a gem tucked next to a gas station! What you see on the outside does not compute to what you experience culinary-wise on the inside. My husband ordered the day's special which was shrimp and clams with a white and wine sauce in pasta with a hint of garlic. Delish! My entree was chicken cacciatore with lots of green peppers, onions, and mushrooms in a delightful and slightly sweet tomato sauce! This is about the sixth time I've gotten it and I've never been disappointed!!!We both had a garden salad and I also got a side of spaghetti with meat sauce which was a huge side! Was pleasantly surprised to find this place taking back roads through VA back home to MD. Right next to a Pizza Hut my family wanted to try the local place. We were extremely happy with the pizza, salad and sides for the kids. It was better than any pizza we had on the actual vacation.
