An OG classic ride that's both adorable and fun for the whole family! I love all the little details and decor throughout the ride. There's always something cute to look at. Pinocchio's Daring Journey is a quick two minute ride at the Fantasyland area of Disneyland. Similar to others at the park it's a two person ride on a motorcar that spins and goes through a variety of rooms. This one goes through Pinocchio's story and scenes. I was surprised to see a pretty scary ride considering it's probably mainly little kids who ride it. It's very similar to the Mr. Toad ride a short walk from this one. read more

The Blue Fairy, Figaro the cat, Gepetto and Pinocchio are endearing scenes in this ride. However it seems some of the rides from the 50's might have disturbing or downright scary characters like the evil queen or witch in Snow White, and the boys turned into a donkey at the amusement park in Pinocchio. The one good thing is there is not a long wait to get into this ride. If you're exhausted or need to escape from the heat you might want to sit a spell or even catch a couple winks on this ride. read more

Our family of 4 enjoyed reminiscing scenes from this beloved classic film made into a ride! Pinocchio definitely teaches you a lesson about stretching the truth, he learns the hard way when he turns into a donkey on Pleasure Island! I take care of kids for a living and my favorite song to sing to them from the film is actually Disney's theme song, "When You Wish Upon A Star!" This classic song won an Academy Award for Best Original song in 1940! So basically what I'm saying is, you can't visit Disneyland without going on this ride! We are looking forward to returning! This is one of Fantasyland's OG rides, and it's still a personal favorite. It's as old school as it gets, with dated, painted wooded cutouts and an abbreviated retelling of the Disney animated classic, "Pinocchio." This is a Disneyland original (not like the re-done Pinocchio in Florida that is now a roller coaster). You board a 4 person vehicle and basically ride through the movie, from Gepetto's puppet workshop to the bad boy temptations on Pleasure Island to getting eaten alive by Monstro the whale! Yes, this ride can scare sensitive little ones, especially when the whale pops out at the end. Pleasure Island may be scary for young kids, but it sure looks fun for us adults, LOL! The ending is happy, with an appearance from the Blue Fairy. And Jiminy Cricket follows along on your journey, giving lots of sage advice along the way. This isn't one of the best attractions in Disneyland, but its appeal lies in how it hasn't changed much at all over the years. Oh: and the line is usually quite short during the hour before park closing. Wait until then if you can, because this one isn't worth waiting more than 30 minutes for, in my opinion. read more

Inside it gets pretty dark, not just in shadows but theme. I always cringe when Lampwick turns to reveal he's a donkey lol. And all donkeys crying in Pleasure Island..yeesh! While this ride is one of the classics in Fantasyland, after being able to experience the global parks, this is definitely dated in terms of technology and visual elements. Also when riding this with younger children some parts can get quite dark and scary, so it is not suitable for children under 5. The plus is that the line is usually quite short compared to Peter Pan or Mr. Toad's so if you're looking for something to ride while getting out of the sun, then it's a good option otherwise I'd skip it. read more

In fantasy land, there are four story book attractions with Peter Pan's Flight being the most popular. Every time I do this attraction, I find it lackluster comparing to those around it. This was my least favorite ride in Fantasyland. Having learned that there is more legroom in the front seat than in the back I gave my husband the front so he would be more comfortable. This is a short ride focusing on the the bad things that happened to Pinocchio. You see him being used as a puppet in a carnaval show and then later seeing him transformed into a donkey over on Pleasure Island with his friend Lampert. You also get a brief encounter with him inside Monstro the whale. You really don't see much of Geppetto or the blue fairy until the end. Was hard to tell in the ending scene if he really looked like a real boy. Then of course my personal favorite-Jiminy Crickett. Seems they should showcase more of him since he was Pinocchio's conscience. It's about at 2 minute ride and near some of the other kid immersive Fantasyland attractions. Take it in as long as you are visiting Fantasyland but I wouldn't wait in line for it. read more

It's been many years since I watched Pinocchio, and it was never in my top ten Disney movies. For a film and musical score that's so iconic to Disneyland I couldn't remember why I hadn't seen it in so long. It's because the movie, like this ride, is dark. It has unsettling scenes and riding through it I suddenly remembered why I never watch it, it's a creepy movie. About halfway through the ride I was like, yeah - this isn't fun, I'm good. This is one of the smaller rides and it is very dated but while it is dated, you can tell that they still care about this ride! The ride itself is a small ride that has a lots of turns and it is a nice little paced ride. The design of this really makes you feel as if you are living through the movie and the feeling of you actually being in the movie, which is a lot of fun! There are quite a few little surprises in the ride and it is really cool seeing the fairy appear and disappear as if she was coming out of thin air! It is a quick ride and is over relatively fast so I would not recommend waiting in this line if the line is over... honestly 15 minutes. Disney World does not have a version of the Pinocchio's Daring Journey ride. Located inside Fantasyland, it's right next to Snow White's Enchanted Journey. The queue is typically short for this ride. We haven't had to wait longer than 10 minutes. If you ride Pinocchio's Daring Journey early in the morning, there typically is no wait time. The ride is a dark ride and it takes you through the Pinocchio's journey, very similar to the movie. It does go through how Pinocchio started and his voyage through the carnival and Monstro. It's a slow ride, classic, and not too short. If you're visiting Disneyland for the first time and only have a limited amount of time available, you should try to ride this and most fantasyland rides early in the morning! read more

Not sure why people have been hating on this ride, but I personally love it. As a thrill ride seeker at the parks, I often overlook any rides in Fantasyland until my future Mother-in-Law took me on this ride with hubby recently. I had zero expectations so I was mindblown by how immersive this ride is. I felt like I was reliving all of the scenes from the movie. The ride was only about 2 minutes long, but it covered the entire story. My heart hurt for the little boys that turned into donkies. They only wanted to go back home! I recommend this ride to all ages. The line moves fast because they're always loading people. It's honestly a great ride! read more

3/5 because this is supposed to be a ride suitable for babies and kids on the Disney side and it's most definitely not - it's insanely loud, dark, and scary! Since the building it's in is so tiny, you'd think they'd turn the volume down inside, but nope. We had to cover our 9 m/o's ears. Our 4 y/o nephew went on this ride a few weeks after our visit and he cried the entire time. Time to see the Wooden Puppet Boy! Located in Fantasyland right next to Snow White's Enchanted Journey. Pinocchio's Daring Journey shows you the darker side of Pinocchio's story. On his way to school, he gets led astray by the con-artist fox Honest John and his sidekick Gideon the Cat. They lead Pinocchio to the carnival to perform in Stromboli's Puppet Show. Pinocchio ends being a star attraction and Stromboli ends up locking him in a cage when Pinocchio tries to leave (then breaks free with the help of the Blue Fairy). The ride goes into Pleasure Island - the Curse! Unruly boys brought to Pleasure Island are turned into donkeys for their misdeeds. They are then sold into slave labor (salt mines and circuses) by an evil man named Coachman. Pinocchio manages to escape with the help of Jiminy the Cricket, but also has donkey ears and a tail as well. Last part, he goes back home to discover that Geppetto has gone out looking for Pinocchio but was swallowed by Monstro - a mean and vicious, gigantic man-eating whale. Pinocchio and Geppetto ends up making Monstro sneeze to escape, which makes him angry. He chases Pinocchio and Geppetto, which Pinocchio ends up getting killed, aww! (Don't fret, he ends up becoming a real boy because he has proven that he was brave, truthful and selfless). The ride itself is pretty fun, fast and dark. It might scary some kiddies, but as an adult, you'll find it amusing. Just slightly bummed that I couldn't take good pictures and/or videos, but I did enjoy my nails lighting up under the black lights, lol! read more

This ride had no wait time at all for us. The story was truly told on this ride, from Pinocchio's beginning to his moments when the lying became to much. I like that it doesn't hide the dark part of life. Most ppl were surprised it went from happy wholesome to dark as fast as it did. But in the story it did the same, however the ride is a quick brief overview of the story. I enjoy these nostalgic rides that have kept true to form after all these years. You'll hear snippets of it during Pinocchio's Daring Journey... but be surprised at how creepy this dark ride easily gets. Unlike many of the dark rides at Disneyland, where it tells the story of the movie they're based on, it feels like this one skips past the beginning and goes right to the middle, where it shows what happens to naughty kids who make very bad life decisions, as well as our favorite puppet's adventure inside Monstro. Compared to, say, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the semi-animatronic figures in the ride are nice to see (keep an eye out for Jiminy Cricket and Figaro). We were surprised that the wait wasn't too long - then again, we did go on a Monday. As many Yelpers have noted, Pinocchio's Daring Journey isn't really for really young kids - you may want to wait until they're at least 6 or 7 (or even a bit older than that!) to take them on this ride. read more

SPOILER ALERT :) So this is yet another one of Fantasyland's dark ride that includes a scary part. You are seated in a car and then you start your journey through different scenes from the Pinocchio movie. It goes from happy scenes of Pinocchio dancing to sad scenes when he and his friends get tricked in Pleasure Island. One scene that always got me since I was little was when you leave Pleasure Island and all of a sudden Monstros, the whale, pops up with lightning in the background to eat you, but the your car makes a quick turn to safety. I was also fascinated by the affect they used to make the Blue Fairy appear and reappear in the end scene. This ride definitely didn't leave the rider at a sad ending like some of the other dark rides and actually a happy ending with Pinocchio being reunited with Geppetto. read more

This ride is definitely a "classic" Disneyland ride in every sense of the word. This is a slow, dark ride, nice slow smooth track, a lot of dark, somewhat scary stuff, a lot of areas are almost all blacked out. My 4 year old was a little scared but I just held her hand and assured her that we were okay. There are maybe a few bright spots in this ride, but other than that the majority of it was a bit dark & scary, so for younger audience might not be favorable, but for my demented self I absolutely loved it. I loved Pinocchio, I wish they highlighted arguably one of Disney's best song a little more in the ride. I feel like this ride could definitely use a slight refurbishment but not a complete gut job is necessary :) read more

Will come to you. The quintessential Disney song from one of the best Disney movies of all time. I just wish the attraction lived up to the movie. Do not get me wrong the ride is great but it can be somewhat overwhelming and a bit confusing for children. You ride through the attraction on what looks like wood carved boxes...like they are straight out of Gepetto's workshop. One of the best things about Pinocchio's Daring Journey is the line! There never ever seems to be much of a line to ride. I think the most I have ever waited was 5 minutes.
