Fantasyland opened on July 17, 1955 and was one of the opening-day lands of Disneyland. It has themes of a medieval village and a carnival with the King Arthur Carousel in the middle. There are a lot of rides in this area including but not limited to Peter Pan's Flight, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio's Daring Journey, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. One thing I noticed with the rides here is that they are very similar but with different themes. They are also short (only about two minutes) and have two seats. This is one of the original themed lands from Disneyland's opening in 1955. This land centers around Sleeping Beauty Castle, King Arthur Carrousel and a bunch of rides inspired by Disney's animated fairy tale feature films. I enjoy walking through the castle and occasionally riding the carrousel. It is nice to relive the old Disney classic animated movies. But most of these rides are for kids. The lines are still long after all of these years on some of them. One ride that you will never catch me on again is the Mad Tea Party tea cup ride. My friends spun me around so fast on that ride when I was a teenager that I threw up. Never again. The Matterhorn Bobsleds are still a classic and fun to ride on. I enjoy watching all of the kids having fun on these rides. It brings me back to my childhood days of growing up coming to the park. read more

Fantasyland is a magical land with so many rides for all ages and magical experiences! Home to the grand Sleeping Beauty's Castle, Sleeping Beauty is said to be Disney's best animated/artistic, expensive film of its time! We got the morning started out right with a visit from fairy godmother in training, Samantha for my eldest's birthday at Bibbity Boppity Boutique. She transformed our eldest into the most beautiful princess, magic she said ends at midnight! Peter Pan's Flight is a classic, short leisure ride I had to let hubby and our daughters experience with me! King Arthur's Carousel comes with a bit of history, Disneyland after all was inspired by the merry-go-round in Griffin Park LA that Walt took his own daughters on! We rode on the chariot, while our eldest rode on an intricately carved, hand painted horse! I would HIGHLY recommend visiting this magical land, it's not Disneyland without it! We'll be returning to ride more family friendly rides and explore more shops! SYOY! :-) read more

Fantasyland 1955 looked like a Renaissance fair on a budget. If Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth, Fantasyland is the beating heart that Walt poured his soul into. This was his land -- the castle, the storybook rides, the dark rides that turned fairy tales into three-minute morality plays. When the park opened in 1955, Fantasyland looked like a medieval fairground, complete with painted plywood façades and carnival-style tents. Walt always wanted more, but money was tight, so the "kingdom" looked more like a traveling circus. Fast forward to 1983, when Michael Eisner took the reins during Disney's big park reinvention. No matter what your age is, walking down Main Street and entering Fantasyland bring smiles and non stop happiness. The rides have been around forever with little tweaks in Peter Pan's Flight at the Mermaid Lagoon. It's a good starting point when Rise of the Resistence and Splash Mountain are out of service or having a theme change to Princess and the Frog. See your favorite Disney character wandering among you. It still gives me a thrill to hear Look it's ...., No parades the day we were there on September 30, 2024 but there was a small minstrel band playing music by the rides and Carousel. This is definitely the most kid friendly area of the park and it comes with some of the longest lines, especially for the Peter Pan ride. It's a really fun area though even if you're not bringing kids. There are also lots a couple of shops just as you walk through the castle and a carrousel. The detail on all the rides is amazing, like the Snow White house and Toad Hall. It's definitely one of the busier areas so just be prepared for that. read more

Fantasyland was more of a pass through area for me during my visit except for one particular ride. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to do some of the timeless rides in this section, but when you only have one day to jam in as much as you can, you pick the more notable rides and hope that one day you will return. This area is tied to a lot of the older Disney classics. Think Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Pinocchio, and so on. But there is one ride that no matter how short your visit is you have to ride. That ride is It's a Small World. From a prior review, you already know I made sure that was on my list. This section just reminds you of that one section in any amusement park that has the carousel and smaller rides on the outlier. Directly behind the castle so it is hard to miss. read more

Fantasyland is home to the dark and spooky rides that I enjoy! (Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Snow White's enchanted wish, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio's Daring Journey). You can't miss those! They are classics. The Matterhorn Bobsleds are lots of fun too! That one is fast and refreshing. The Mad Tea Party can also be found in Fantasyland. Ever since I was a child I was madly in love with Fantasyland because it is a child's dream come true. It has the most of the classic Disney rides here as well as shops and eateries. Most people like to enter through Sleeping Beauty castle so you can get a good look at the things surrounding you. Directly in front of you is King Arthur carousel with the tradional "sword in the stone." A great photo op if you want to try to "pull" it out. That area is surrounded by Peter Pan's flight, Snow White's enchanted wish, Bippity boppity boutique, and Pinocchio's daring journey. Moving on you will encounter Casey Jr Circus train, Mr Toad's wild ride, the mad tea party, Alice in Wonderland, and Storybook land canal boats. Two of the more popular attractions are "It's a small world" and the Matterhorn. (some of the attractions I visited reviewed separately). Dining is limited here. I did stop in Red Rose tavern but saw nothing that interested me. Another popular spot is the Troubadour Tavern for snacks. Since this part of the park is very family oriented with small kids it does get crowded very quickly. It is best to visit either first thing in the morning or during a parade when kids are enjoying that. Wait times seem to be shorter then. Expect frequent closures of popular attractions here as they are always upgrading or performing maintenance here. Nevertheless, no trip to Disneyland would be complete without a visit to Fantasyland. read more

Fantasyland is home to the characters and rides of Disney movies inspired by fairytales and other children's storybooks. Attractions in Fantasyland are tailor-made for the youngest of guests. Rides are fairly short. Shorter rides equates to shorter lines. Anyone who has waited in line with a child knows this is much appreciated. Matterhorn Mountain and the Tea Cups are the only thrill rides, and theose are located on the outskirts of Fantasyland. Many don't realize, but guests can go into the castle. If in Fantasyland, and facing the castle, the door is located to the right. Inside of the castle is a series of Sleeping Beauty vignettes. Fantasyland has several smaller shops. Mad Hatters is a great place to get hats and ears. Have a want to be princess? One of the shops has cast members who will act as royal dresser, and help them pick out the perfect princess gown. A toy store and another small shop round out the shopping. Other than some snack carts, Red Rose Tavern is the only real restaurant in Fantasyland. Order in person or on the Disneyland app. Red Rose Tavern has an old-world European charm. The building looks as if at any moment, the cast of Beauty and the Beauty could come waltzing out while singing. read more

A classic from opening day! I love a few of the attractions here, such as Peter Pan's Flight and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. The only hesitation I have when visiting this area is the mass amounts of strollers and trying to maneuver through the crowds. Definitely a place to come at rope drop of after 10pm if you want to avoid the hoards of kids and large families. read more

The heart of Disneyland. As you walk down Main Street USA, you see Sleeping Beauty's Castle, if you look you can find the Disney coat of arms on the castle. You walk across the bridge (this is of course after you have snapped your photo of you in front of the castle) There is also a Disney cast member posted up there to take your photo for you, both on their camera if you don't have on or they will pretty much take one anything, phone, slr, point and shoot, etc. You can take a walking tour of the castle if you choose. Just beyond the castle near the rear, driven into the ground is a gold spike marking the geographical center of Disneyland as stands now, after ToonTown was added. The Original Center is the Walt and Mickey statue, the one in between is the compass in front of the castle, when they added Small world. One of the original themed areas of Disneyland, Fantasyland King Arthur's Carrousel centers and dominates your view as your arrive. Another great photo spot is in front of the carrousel, where you can find a sword in an anvil; several times each day a costumed Merlin helps a child pull the sword from it. Only known one person who did it, but hear others who have done it. I never did. We did a walk with Walt tour and this was one of Walt's favorite locations. He loved to sit and watch, especially the carrousel. The played this quote from Walt Disney and he said, "What youngster has not dreamed of flying with Peter Pan over moonlit London, or tumbling into Alice's nonsensical Wonderland? In Fantasyland, these classic stories of everyone's youth have become realities for youngsters - of all ages - to participate in." His favorite ride in the whole park was Peter Pan. Its still one of the most highly sought after rides, min 35-40 mins all day long. This a great area for children, there is a princess meet and greet inside, there was Belle's village added early 2013 I believe to the left of the castle. You can find tea cups, Snow White (touch the brass apple out front) Mr. Toads Wild Ride, the Tea Cups. So much and so ingrained in ones childhood. read more

I'm a little surprised that I never wrote a review on Fantasyland in Disneyland. I remember writing a review for the one in Disney World but not for the one in Anaheim. In my strongest opinion, Fantasyland defines Disney. Why? Because, it's classic Disney; it's Walt creation and it wasn't changed or alerted to keep up with current Disney Pixar films like the Incredibles. Or Star Wars. Does anyone else feel slightly let down that Disney is changing a bulk of Disneyland to make it a Star Wars themed land? I know I am veering off in a another direction but, I was a little disappointed that Disney's California Adventure Park changed Paradise Pier too into Pixar Fest; I feel that completely changed the theme of it being a California themed based park. Leave Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park alone please and stop trying to change it!! Anyways, Fantasyland is full of Disney classic rides like Alice in Wonderland, Snow White's Scary Adventure, Pinocchio's Daring Journey (which is one of my favorites), Peter Pan's Flight, and so many others. These rides are seriously fun for children and for adults too. Also featured in the park is Matterhorn Bobsleds which I heard is exclusive to the park and not featured at any other Disney park. On top of the amazing attractions in Fantasyland, there is a certain magic in the air upon entering this section of the park. I feel the happiest when entering Fantasyland because you are surrounded by beauty and music and characters too; lots of them! I know this land is mainly geared toward kids but, the reason why I love it so much is because it captures the innocence of Disney and reminds us of how Walt's vision comes to life. read more

Meh is right. Fantasyland was not my fantasy. Bad food, huge crowds, not much going on.... eh. I'll not come back. Let me say that I LOVED the Paint the Night parade - it was awesome. I saw it twice and loved it both times. It's visually stunning, entertaining, and was just fun to watch. I love that they have an earlier show just before the castle fireworks and then another about a good hour later so you have time to go ride some rides, enjoy the park at night, and enjoy a much smaller crowd because a lot of folks with smaller children went home after the fireworks. That was nice. I had a much better view the second time around at the 10:45 show. The fireworks for the castle were pretty - it was pure pandemonium trying to see them without fast passes (which we didn't get for anything because we bought the tickets around noon the same day so all fast passes were nearly gone) but once we found a spot we were OK. The best place to see the fireworks is from the town before the castle because you get to see the show they present on the sides of the buildings along the top while the fireworks are happening that coincide with the music - so that was tons of fun. I didn't get to see all of it because there was nowhere to go and we were ushered away by the employees but what I did see was awesome. I rode the Indiana Jones ride and Haunted mansion after the fireworks and the lines were much shorter once a large portion of the crowd left. The lines for the characters were unbelievably long. The castle was super cute and small and pink and sparkly but very tiny compared to Cinderella's castle. I knew it would be smaller but it was so tiny! read more

Fantasyland is the iconic part of the park, containing It's A Small World, the Mad Tea Party, and all the other old dark rides. One enters through the castle but everyone's taking photos there so one might want to try to sneak in through Tomorrowland or one of the side entrances. The traffic here was very heavy due to many of the rides for the younger audience being here and there being a lot of stroller traffic and there not being enough stroller parking. There was also a staff member that made strange directions in front of It's A Small World with a sign and I wasn't sure how to proceed there. The parade affected the schedule of the rides, so one should probably get this part of the park done first. There are plenty of gift shops in this part of the park, each catering to a different merchandise type. read more

I love all the rides here always brings back memories the funny thing i can always remember was the Sky ride that always got stuck and people looking down on us running around through Fantasyland. It's Disneyland! It magical, amazing and clean! We always go for the whole day and hit both parks. We normally go to the Disney World paris, ave there are quite a few differences. Some if the rides vary as well as the rides that are babes the sane, still vary on the actual ride. read more

If you have a child, Fantasyland is just that... a fantasy. If you don't have a small child, skip this part of Disneyland except for It's A Small World. That is worth riding! Otherwise, these rides are all for young children. My son likes the Mr. Toad ride, the boat ride, the train ride, the Pinnochio ride, Dumbo, the carousel, It's A Small World, tea cups, Alice in Wonderland... well all of them. We have never gone on Peter Pan. The line is ALWAYS, ALWAYS long. One day we will rush in and do it. Parents, if you want to avoid some of the more tedious, yawn inducing rides for your own sanity, skip the train, the boat, and Dumbo. I find those rides super boring, and they tend to have long lines. If you want to do these dull rides, get their first thing in the morning and power walk to these rides. Fantasyland is always busy and packed with kiddies. read more

This is exactly what comes to mind when I hear the name Disney. All of your beloved Disney Princess, princess, and other animated heroes, all in one place! There are tons of classic rides in this section of the park ranging from Snow White to Peter Pan. Let's not forget about Small World! What a ride. This is an absolute must, so make some time!
