Professional, Thoughtful, Considerate,…read more My daughter is off at college and her car started burning something out of the exhaust. From what she described, I was thinking a blown head gasket or rings. Normally I do all of our car work but, being off at college, it wasn't practical. One of her professors recommended Mobile Tech. She took the car in and asked them to look it over. My daughter also commented to me that, when she brought the car in, they didn't talk down to her like some guys do when talking to a woman about cars. They took the time to answer her questions without being condescending. Rob Harris was her mechanic. He noticed that it was up for inspection so he gave it a little more attention. His report noted the things that her car NEEDED. He could have up-sold me on a few things that I know it could use but he didn't. When I mentioned them, he agreed that it would be a good idea but he was addressing her car's immediate needs. She need a new radiator and the breaks were nearing end of life. I let him know that I could do the breaks but wanted them to do the radiator so she could drive it home. I though for sure it would be a week to get the parts and work it in. He said the car would be ready the next day and it was. There's more. Rob had some other good advice about the car which I appreciated. But that was enough. I spoke with Rob a few times on the phone about the car and every time I hung up I felt like the car was in good hands and my daughter was being taken care of the way I would want her to be treated.

We were on vacation from the salted north in the Wilmington area. While I was there I was hoping…read moreto find a rust-free replacement for my pile of rust chips. We spent a few evenings cruising car lots in the evening after they were closed. We wanted to avoid the flock of car salesmen vultures that tend to descend on you before you even get out of your car. We decided to bite the bullet and stop by Bruce Cavenaugh's Automart during the day to check out a van we liked. To our surprise there was no flock of vultures, not even a lone vulture. We were able to give the van we liked a thorough once over before we even talked to anyone. Right at the point when we could either drive a way or go find someone, Matt came out to meet us. Instead of the high pressure dodge-ball game I was used to, talking to Matt was like talking to an old friend. He asked about our goals and budget and then offered a test drive. After a drive we sat down and got right to the bottom line, no theatrics, no messing around. Matt got us down to our budget and even gave us more that I expected for our junk. The next morning the check engine light came on in the new van, it showed a fuel vent problem. I took it back and Matt sent me right to the shop. They knew I was leaving town and could have appeased me for the day but they went the extra mile and replaced $140 worth of parts to make sure it was fixed right. All this to say that I'm extremely impressed with everyone at Bruce Cavenaugh's Automart and Matt will be my first call next time I'm looking for a vehicle even though I live 700 miles away. Oh, and Matt even checked on us to make sure we made it home without any more problems from the new car.

Poor attention to detail and lack of follow through. Think twice!!…read more I had an initial good conversation with Peter on inspecting and rebuilding/resealing my R50/5 transmission. Upon receiving it back, I was billed for a seal that wasn't replaced, there was a poorly installed output seal (that would have severely leaked), and vice grip/pliers marks on my shift lever. I also noticed a good sized crack on my output drive flange. After another conversation, Peter got the tranny back...This was now to repair his poor craftsmanship and lack of attention to detail. He replaced the seals, but failed to address the cracked drive flange - He reinstalled in on the new seal. Note: This was pointed out to him with a note in the shipping box, through email with photos, and via text. It took several days to get a response from Peter after receiving the transmission back a second time. He said he would offer a new flange at a "good price." After a few attempts to get in touch with him again, he never responded. This was a frustrating experience that made me question the whole inspection process. Also, don't pay with Zelle as you have no recourse on the payment if services weren't' delivered as promised.

I went in for an oil change with 3 sensors on. When I 1st walked in, the Mechanic said I was really lucky, and that he was the best guy in town to look at my car, because he had been the Service Foreman at Honda for the past 15yrs. David Cochran is the new Co-Owner at Austin's Tire & Auto, so I knew my 2014 Honda Pilot was in good hands. While waiting, I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with Tristan and John, but I knew I was in trouble when David came and sat down beside me. He patiently listened to all my concerns about whether or not to invest the $5000 in my car, and he thoughtfully weighed in on all my options. He said it would cost $1500 more if I had gone to the dealership because he had lower overhead. The parts were in, and David said he'd try and have it done by the end of the following day. My boyfriend thought it would take longer, as they had to remove the engine for the repair. David went to the shop at 4 am to make sure my vehicle would be ready when he said it was. They quoted me $5000 and the total came in below the quote and on time in less than 32 hrs. With Austin's Tire & Auto, I've finally found the local equivalent to Hearne's Automotive in Raleigh, who I've continued to do business with since leaving Raleigh 11 years ago. I feel very lucky to have found David and the incredible crew at Austin's. All the mechanics at Austin's are motorheads. They live for cars. Their hobby when they get off work is hot rods. It's their life. They live it. It's like a musician or a painter, it's their art. The Silver Lining - David had a badass rat rod out front, so I got to take some cool photos that put a huge smile on my face.

After a short conversation we left our vehicle and went to lunch. I received texts, emails, and a phone call about the inspection with recommendations on what should be done. Most of the items on the list actually needed servicing and maintenance. One thing that stood out was the tires. The set of tires on the vehicle are high mileage tires that are not near the rating. They kept texting and making sure I didn't want new tires. Other than the back and forth about tires, everything went well and the price range was right around what I expected. This is the dealership where we purchased the vehicle new in 2012. Between here and Jacksonville Toyota all the vehicle maintenance history can be retrieved if needed.
