I also like how the areas are rotated monthly to allow the grass to have a break from all the activity. The maintenance folks do an excellent job of keeping the grounds looking fresh!

I go here all the time, especially when the Indian school dog park is closed. However, the last couple of years I've been there an aggressive little bulldog has been obsessed with my dog and tries to mount him so I've had to leave early but that's no one's fault. The owner is really attentive here and everybody picks up after their dogs. It's a great place to go.

There are also restrooms, drinking fountains, and bike racks. The parking area is off 93rd street, but you can also access the park by walking from 92nd place. The park is for residents of the Troon North and you will need a key for the restrooms and tennis courts (available from the association). If you come in the mornings or afternoons, expect to see lots of activity. If you live in the area and haven't been to the park, you are really missing out! Great facilities and stunning views of Pinnacle Peak.

When I think of parks, I think of playgrounds from when I was a kid, picnics from when I was a…read moreteenager or college student, and a place to walk my dog nowadays. Sonrisa Park is a nice park that is a good size with plenty of grass, trees, benches, trash cans, and more. A lot of people walk over from the neighborhood though there is plenty of street parking around the park for someone to drive if more than a short walk away. I go there several times a week and see someone going for a jog, someone taking dogs for a walk, someone walking a baby in a stroller, or just walking period. First thing in the morning before it gets too hot, I see a number of people bringing their dogs and meeting up near the northwest corner of the park. It's nice to see the community being built right at the park! The dogs seem well behaved and in most cases, the dog owners pick up after their dogs. I have seen these dogs be allowed off-leash, which shouldn't be the case though. Elsewhere at the park, I have seem the remnants of dogs that haven't been picked up (probably from others visiting the park). I also have seen the occasional dog being trained to be socialized in another corner of the park, which is great, as we often don't bother to learn the story or background of other dogs, and sometimes, they need an environment like a park to learn how to socialize with other dogs (in a protective manner). Needless to say, the park serves many purposes to dogs and their owners. Sonrisa Park is right in the heart of the Magic Zip Code, which means it has a Scottsdale address yet is still in the City of Phoenix. The park is managed by the City of Phoenix and is technically open from 5:30 AM to 10 PM daily. While there are no bathrooms there, it is ADA accessible, has drinking fountains, a playground, a grill and picnic area, shade structures, a soccer field, and plenty of park benches and trash cans. I look forward to the weather getting nicer and more people visiting the park throughout the day and not just early in the morning or later in the evening.
