This past Saturday, we decided to come visit this aquatic center as suggested by my partner. The place has open aquatic recreation from 1pm -5:30pm and you can either hang out on the recreation pool side with slide and lazy river or hang out on the other side where there is lap swim and a diving pool. Both my partner and I wanted to lap swim, so this review is mainly for that. For residents, the charge is $4/person, a pretty sweet deal to hang out at a pool all afternoon vs. go into downtown Phoenix and pay way more to be in a very crowded pool at a hotel event. Locker rooms were fine, lockers available, and we opted to bring all our stuff close to where we could see it. I had some of my diving gear with me, and lifeguards had no problem with us using our snorkel and fins. You'd think on a 115F afternoon that this place would be packed, and thankfully, it was not. We had no issues with lanes, and at one point, my partner and I had separate lanes for about 20 min! Overall, this was a great experience. We got some relief from our heat wave, got in a decent lap swim session (probably need to swim more, arms aren't completely shot today lol) and the price was really good! None of my tricks seem to impress them. I got good enough to tic tac, mongo push and tweak a bail. But they roll their eyes unimpressed. Skateboards seem to have been replaced with scooters and that is what my boys enjoy. To me, having basically a skinny board with handles looked like cheating. Very easy I said to myself as I told my boy to let me try his scooter. I'm watching kids as young as 5 dropping into pools and coming out up top like nothing. So I "mongo push" out to the edge of the bowl and drop in! It was amazing. I did a front flip and the scooter went flying. I felt the wind go from my lungs as I landed on my back. Kids come running over to see if I'm ok. You know how it is. Those times you trip and roll with it like you meant to do it on purpose? Well I jumped up and played it off smoothly. "Heck yeah kid, I was just practicing my impossible flip-trick but got my fakie mixed up." Dropped the mic with my head held high and casually walked to the benches with the rest of the parents. Did a couple nonchalant side glances to make sure my ruse paid off and exhaled the bitter pains pounding throughout my body. Sat back and thought to myself "Screw that" and have happily just taken and watched the boys since. So for skate park review. I judge them on a couple things. Review for Weekends. 10:00am - 5:00pm SKETCHINESS- 4 stars. We only come here during the day. Most of the skaters and scooter riders are well behaved. You will hear some occasional expletives from people wiping out, but mainly a chill group. Being along the green belt there seem to be more family friendly types around. Occasionally some homeless folks but never any issues. FACILITIES- 4 stars. Shade structure, concrete benches, picnic tables, walking paths, lots of grass and bathrooms within an easy walking distance. Lots of grass. Lots of options for a family. As we have 6 kids in a wide age range they all find something fun to do. PARKING- 4 stars. Always plenty of parking at the times we have come. CROWD- 3 stars. Some teenagers can be rude or not watch out for younger kids. Some younger kids do not pay attention to what's going on and parents are oblivious. Remember. Human skulls don't bounce well off of concrete as well as bones. I make my kids wear helmets, elbow and knee pads. They don't think it's cool but we've also seen what happens to those not wearing. So parents please be uncool and protect your kids brains and body. Overall I think it's a great activity for anyone. Creates great hand & eye coordination and kids get great cardio workout in without realizing it. I'm amazed at the parents who can still thrash it or gleam the cube.

Brayden was our party host and he was absolutely amazing. He was so helpful and thoughtful throughout the entire event. Since the older kids are back in school now, there is more space for the littles to run wild. (We grandparents got a workout too!) the staff is friendly and helpful. There is a snack bar and an area to rent scooters and helmets and you can even buy KTR merch. Restrooms are clean and there is a spot to refill water bottles. Consider purchasing the 10 punch pass too. Go and have fun!

I visited this KTR location using my GetOutPass, and after recently visiting the newer Mesa…read morelocation, the difference was pretty noticeable. The Mesa location has a lot more gym equipment, obstacles, and activities for younger kids, while this location feels much more like an open warehouse space with fewer things for little ones to do. The skate area is definitely larger here, but overall there wasn't as much to keep my 7- and 9-year-olds entertained. There were also a lot more older teens here, which made me uncomfortable letting my kids explore on their own. Even the 6-and-under area had bigger kids playing in it, and the main wheel zone was filled with older boys riding around pretty aggressively and balls just being thrown in different directions. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness. We needed to use the restrooms as soon as we arrived, and they were very dirty--toilet paper was all over the floor and multiple toilets hadn't been flushed. The facility also felt worn down, and some of the equipment looked like it could use better maintenance. I'm glad I was able to visit using my GetOutPass, but I don't think I would pay admission to this location. I really wish the GetOutPass included the newer Mesa location instead, as it's a much better experience for younger kids. The teens all working at the place also are too busy talking and mingling with each other...
