some things i love about this place: super friendly technicians/staff, really reasonable prices, my nails come out really cute. The only con is they can get pretty busy but that's not an issue if u make an appointment. This week, my acrylic nail chipped and fell off after i banged it into my door the day after i got them done (my fault) I went in expecting to pay the 3 or 5 dollars for the nail repair but my girl got me and she did it for free this time ;) overall it's a really solid nail salon, you just gotta make sure youre specific in what you ask for bc they're busy and want to get to everyone.

This place does a great job. A full set of acrylics plus gel for only $30! And when one of the nail sizes she applied looked too narrow for my liking (just after glue) she clipped it off and unglued it without any push back or annoyance. They offered me a bottle of water when I arrived and helped me select the color I wanted quickly just by saying "I'd like a dark grey". For people who hate the decision making process of spinning thru the color wheels, this is a huge service. I can't wait to run my new nails down my lover's back.

This place is absolutely adorable! My friend and I came here last minute to get acrylics sets. I had no knowledge of this place prior to stopping by, but I will 100% be coming back! The nail artists were friendly, diligent, and worked very quickly. For $50 it was DEFINITELY worth the price. Now my friend and I have super cute nails for Valentines Day! ‍

    Will come back!

First time at Pinkys, was recommended by a co-worker. They did a good job, fairly inexpensive, paid 40 for a gel mani and a regular pedicure. They did an amazing pedicure, took their time to massage my legs... which I appreciate. On my nails I did OPI bubble bath gel color. I will come back!

I have been going to Pinky's for 3 years now, not because it's any good but because it's fast and cheap. I hate getting my nails done bc nail techs are always rough, it's an expensive habit, and it's time consuming. A typical experience at Pinky's looks like this: Nail tech:Hi can I help you? Me: Gel manicure please. ( or whatever service I'm getting) Nail tech: Pedicure too? Me: No. Just gel manicure Nail tech: Eyebrows? Me: No, just gel manicure (while wide eyeing her green tattooed eyebrows) Nail tech: Ok pick out color I walk over to hooks that are overloaded with binder rings and fake nails painted in a variety of color. It's complete madness with too many options on one ring and hard to handle. If you pick OPI, most of the time they will give you some generic version like DnD. Side bar: don't bother making a reservation Thursday through Saturday. Don't ever get the old man nail tech with long pointy cocaine pinky nail or the older woman with the Posh-bob who asks if you're pregnant every time you're there. I have been getting gel polish off and on for 3 years as well. I take breaks every 5-6 months to let my fingernails breathe a bit. This time I went a little longer due to my own wedding, a honeymoon, friends and relatives weddings, and an awesome summer. My last trip to Pinkys I got the only nail tech that seems to care about my nail health, although she definitely downplayed the severity of it. She basically told me my nails were really long and due to the overgrowth, my nail detached from the nail bed causing white patches on my nails. (A doctors visit later confirmed its actually nail fungus) Said Nail tech recommended to cut off the nail where the white patches were to let my nails breathe and to come back in a month. A few days later my nails were in throbbing pain. I noticed little black spots (later learned it's splinter hemorrhages caused by the nail tech being so rough on me) and that's what prompted me to see a doctor. Reflecting on my own experiences and complete and utter ignorance, I'd like to share more observations. 1. Nail techs never wear gloves ( I never see them wash their hands and they're constantly eating, so gross) 2. The tools come out of resealable paper packages that they originally sealed, so it's not brand new or even officially sterilized. 3. The thermal sterilization cabinet they use to "sterilize" metal tools is always open, releasing heat, defeating its purpose. 4. The finger bowl with the glass stones is never cleaned. Water gets dumped out and stones thrown in a bin disgusting cesspool bin. 5. Nail techs reuse buffers, nail files, nail brushes etc without spraying/sanitizing, or washed. They're used on both toenails and finger nails, increasing the possibility and spread of infections. 6. Brush used after Dremel use to clean dust is never sanitized and used on both clients and table top surfaces, increasing transfer of germs. 7. The green eyebrow nail techs are some of the meanest/ pushiest people on Earth & this is coming from someone who has lived in Philadelphia for over 10 years.

This place is fantastic! The only place I'll go to in the city. A gel manicure and spa gel pedicure take about 3 hours but it's totally worth it. The girls take great care of me and go out of their way to make me comfortable. The gel lasts at least 3 weeks and they do beautiful designs.

This is my new mani/pedi spot! The owners are awesome and great service.

Great customer service!! I really like my mani/pedi & eyebrow wax.

Love love love my girls at Pinky Nails!!!! They are the best. Perfection every time. If you are looking for a fishtown gem...stop by....you won't be disappointed. Get the spa pedicure worth every penny!!!!

Got my nails done here before I left on vacation, not only did it take 3 hours but I left with the worst mani pedi I've ever gotten. I called back and was hung up on when I asked for a refund or credit since I didn't have the time to have them "fixed".

Luv my highlighter yellow done by Linda.

Linda and Lisa are the best! Thank you for always making my nails look amazing. Also a great place for the wee ones to get decorative nails.

    Getting did! Thanks ladies ;)

First off, the place feels big. Has nice calming music playing in the background so it's a pleasant experience visiting and even sitting in the chair for some time. The wash was about the same length of time as a wash from other places here in Chinatown, but somehow it was significantly more enjoyable. The people here know what they're doing, and my scalp feels much better than it did before, and I didn't even know if was feeling anything before. Cut was ~30 minutes, and $28 + tip. Overall, it's on the pricier end of what I've experienced so far in Chinatown, although not by much. However, the quality of the cut was much better than others. In other places, it feels a bit more rushed or cursory, but I felt like I was getting focused attention on my cut. He spent a lot of it actually in touch up and layering, which was good attention to detail. Honestly one of the best cuts I've gotten in Chinatown. Definitely beats out in quality over other mainstays like Kevin's, but at a slightly higher price point.

On top of this, I am usually too cheap to get a shampoo, but since it is already included in the $15 price, it is an added bonus on top of a quality cut. She smiled and agreed, and started cutting. In no time at all, she had cut the hair on one side of my head above my ear, which was the opposite of what I asked for, as I have a deformed right ear from decades of combat sports competition, and I wanted it concealed. As she had already ruined my hair on one side, I bit my tongue as she made the other side match it. I was absolutely furious, but what can a stylist do once they've taken too much off? Absolutely nothing. Now I am stuck with a haircut where my deformed ear is visible for the whole world to see because the stylist decided to give me that haircut that she wanted to give me instead of the one that I asked for. I paid for my haircut with a card and departed in a polite manner, but the moment I hit the sidewalk, I could no nothing but scream profanity as the realization that I couldn't cover my deformed ear kicked in. Now I am not only out $18, but I am stuck with a haircut which leaves me open to yet more questions along the lines of "What's wrong with your ear?" [Edit, I called the place and she offered me a refund, but this doesn't undo the damage she did to my personal appearance. I'll take the refund, but this review stands.] I grew the sides of my hair longer specifically to hide that ear, and the stylist decided that she knew better than me where my haircut was concerned, and forced her personal preferences onto my head. That stylist is very fortunate that I have superior control over my temper, because she has left me feeling disfigured with the haircut she gave me, and now that I'm home and trying to style this mess, I see that she couldn't even manage to trim my bangs straight, and the hair on one side is not symmetrical with the hair on the other side. With the mess she left me with, with my deformed ear exposed, I might just shave my head instead of putting up with this terrible thing she did to my head. I am so humiliated that I don't even want to be seen in public looking like this. I went in feeling good about myself and looking forward to the haircut I asked for, and I left with my self-esteem in the gutter. I get upset every time I catch my refection and see what she did to my appearance. I can't go out looking like this. In short, she was absolutely incompetent & unprofessional in providing a haircut according to the very simple instructions I gave her. She shouldn't be permitted to cut hair, and if she has a state license for cutting hair, it should be revoked. The only reason she's getting one star is because I can't give her zero stars. Attached to this review, you'll see two photos detailing how she couldn't even manage to cut my hair evenly. I could have gotten a better cut from a landscaper with a weed-whacker. There is absolutely no excuse for this, and no apology or refund can do undo the damage. I'll have to wear a hat until my hair covers my deformed ear again. Thanks to a stylist who doesn't listen, I get to wear a hat to cover my deformed ear now. As a craftsman and a business owner, I can tell you that this is not how a professional renders a service to a client. **Update** I spoke with the stylist on the phone a short time ago about the refund she told me she would give me, and instead of telling me when I could come down & get it, she began making all manner of excuses as to why she shouldn't refund my money. This is the kind of experience you can expect to have with this hair stylist: first she will ruin your hair, then she will justify her poor work and back-peddle out of any refund she's already offered you. I should have looked at the other 1-Star reviews of this place, because it seems that those people all had a very similar experience to mine. As a small business owner myself, I'm very enthusiastic about supporting small businesses, but not if they're run by incompetent, unprofessional people who refuse to accept accountability for the damage they do, or offer fair compensation in return for those damages.

I came in on a Monday around lunch time and they weren't busy at all. Since it was our first time there, we didn't have a stylist in mind. They sat us down quickly and David was the one that helped my husband with his haircut. He is very knowledgeable about Asian hair types as he trained in Tokyo for 6 years. If you show him a photo, he will be sure to match the style you requested through the photo. He will constantly show you what the back looks like through a mirror to ensure that you're satisfied with the results. David is really a perfectionist and he even told me that he's always open to criticism, so if you're unhappy with something, just communicate with him and he will be sure to make it right. There might be a language barrier if you don't speak Chinese but I think a translation app would work just fine. My husband got a Korean style two block haircut and I have to admit it's one of the best haircuts that he has ever gotten! The longer layers in the back blended seamlessly with the shorter portion on the back of his head. My husband is traumatized from getting haircuts because oftentimes you pay a lot for a haircut that you don't even end up liking, but he's glad that he finally found a spot that he will be returning to. For wash and haircut, the price is $28, but they were running a promotion at the time so it ended up costing $23. Overall, I highly recommend this hair salon to those who are looking to get a quality haircut.
