When we became engaged, we knew we wanted more than a wedding. We wanted a chance to thank those who have offered us their love, advice, and support during these 8-tumultuous years. After our first call with Laurentis , we were confident that they understood our unusual ideas and our goals. And our ideas were unusual. The central theme, a French Inspired Organic wedding, had raised some eyebrows, but it was embraced by the Savvy Orchid team. Their enthusiasm with our vision gave us the confidence to fully pursue our quirky ideas, and their blunt honesty ("It's not going to happen") reined us in when we went a bit too far. They put together a dream team of creative and ambitious vendors, each of whom were a perfect mix of quirky and professional. Though we were on opposite ends of the country at times, it was easy for us to stay on the same page with Laurentis via email, text ,phone calls and FaceTime (yes, FaceTime). Due to scheduling restrictions, we had to cram vendor meetings into four short trips. Despite the hectic schedule, they were endlessly patient and always on top of what was happening. We were so confident with Savvy Orchid's progress that halfway through we asked them to plan a small, game-themed, bar hop bachelor/bachelorette party. As luck would have it, on the evening of our party an epic rainstorm blew in to ruin plans and prevent half of our friends from attending. Rather than succumb to defeat, they still made the wedding a HUGE success. The guests who could attend still brag about the party to anyone who will listen to this day. When the wedding day itself came, to say it was more than I expected is an understatement. Every phase of the wedding was amazing. Though there was a minor hiccup, nothing distracted us from having a wonderful time, appreciating one another, and sharing our love with our family and friends. Ellen Dubin is phenomenal…read more We chose her based on a referral from friends who've had her do their various bar/bat mitzvahs and weddings. There were several things that made our wedding planning rather challenging - an April wedding in DC with unpredictable weather, a wedding taking place at a private home requiring everything to be imported to that site, and a bride, a groom, and parents that were in three different locations in two different time zones. Ellen was very flexible and adaptable and cleared her schedule to make the most of the limited time we had with her when all three of us were in town. I think one of the best and most useful things about using Personally Yours was the access that Ellen had to various vendors - three things - the tent, the decor, and the food - were the most important part of this wedding and all three were phenomenal. Our wedding was on somewhat short notice - about 8 months to plan - and she was able to acquire Joel from Occasions and Jeffrey from Fox Ventures and Davis from Sugar Plum Tents. All three were exceptional and made multiple trips to our wedding site to plan and coordinate the event. All three had rave reviews about Ellen and it was clear that the people and vendors she surrounded herself with were all people very familiar with each other and worked well with each other. Ellen was able to provide experience, wisdom, and advice about the way we were trying to shape our wedding. She listened carefully and made significant efforts to understand what we wanted for our wedding. There were certain things she was adamant about that we had never really considered including the flow of the guests, the rhythm and scheduling of the band in conjunction with speeches and meals being served. How to introduce a WOW factor for guests when they stepped into our tent. And she paid close consideration to the theme and atmosphere we wanted to have. We wanted to go for a vintage chic / garden wedding that was intermingled with the natural beauty of the house where we were getting married. She advised us on the position of the tent, the dance floor, ways to accent the natural warmth of the home, and how to make sure everyone was fed and watered without any glitches. Ellen is experienced and has done what I'm sure are hundreds of weddings. Before hiring her we had concerns that since she does bar and bat mitzvahs too, that the wedding wouldn't have the perfect wedding feel- but that was not an issue whatsoever! Our wedding was a dream come true. It was perfect - like a work of art in motion. If wedding planners could be named artists she's a Van Gogh or da Vinci. She works so hard and is brilliant at it too! Ellen listens, executes, is efficient, and gets the job done. She is very much about business and there are some times when she might say some things are less feasible than others. It's not difficult to believe her because for most things she'll bend over backward to execute and have her staff work accomplish. But she is honest and will let you know when she disagrees with a suggestion or would like to tweak something and see if you'd like it better that way. The second place where her brilliance comes in is the day of the wedding and ensuring everything goes smoothly. The order of the ceremony, the flow of guests, collecting gifts, re-bustling my dress as she predicted the bustle would come undone, directing bridesmaids/groomsmen, getting the crowd onto the dance floor, and making sure shuttles are coming and going etc. Things were flawless! His ability to blend songs seamlessly from one to the next was like poetry in motion. There were no awkward pauses or interruptions--just one great song flowing effortlessly into another. What really set Alex apart was his interaction with our guests. He knew exactly how to read the room, get everyone involved, and keep people of all ages dancing all night long. In fact, the dance floor stayed full until the venue finally had to kick us out! The photo booth was another huge hit. It came with fun props, and all of the pictures were uploaded to an online gallery so guests could enjoy everyone's photos afterward. I didn't realize it was available earlier in the evening, so I almost missed out myself. Thankfully, I managed to squeeze in a few fun pictures before the night ended. She's kind and really knows weddings. I had so many questions, and she remained patient, answering them all. She created incredible timelines for all parties (bridal, photo, vendors, etc.) and saved us hours if not days. Nicole ran a great rehearsal which made it super easy for the officiant/bride's brother to oversee his first wedding. On the day of the wedding, Nicole arrived bright and early helping to set up everything we brought. She kept us on schedule and helped calm our nerves. I never had to think about what time it was because Nicole was there to get us to the right spot. At the end of the night, Nicole and her team packed everything up and transferred it to our hotel so that we didn't have to worry about anything. We're so glad we hired a coordinator and even happier it was Nicole.

My husband and I live in NYC, working in professional event design and management. We wanted…read moresomeone who we could trust to execute the details we carefully put together over our two-year engagement so we could fully enjoy our wedding day. Nicole was an asset to us in her execution of the majority of the day-of responsibilities we as the bride and groom couldn't handle. However, there were significant difficulties in the process that required us to take a much more active role than we had expected. At the two week-out mark, we had not heard from Nicole since our intro meeting one month prior, and I asked that she get in touch with our vendors who were emailing me directly. Based on the timeline and division of responsibilities she shared with us, this was to be managed by her. She apologized and explained that another wedding had taken her time during the first two weeks of our month, and that vendors were on her to-do list. When she did reach out, our wedding date was incorrect in many of the emails (1 week off). There continued to be incorrect or partial information distributed to our vendors or added to our timeline. For example, we handed her a complete shuttle schedule organized down to the minute and she translated it into her timeline software with only a start time. We went through round after round of revisions, communicating the exact same details until it was accurately reflected. I think Nicole sensed our frustration and was quick to make the adjustments and move forward with an ever-positive attitude. She was quick to respond and make herself available for phone calls. Unfortunately, these repeatedly missed details only two weeks away from our wedding made us lose trust in Nicole and nervous for the wedding day. Nicole's assistant was not helpful. I asked that she direct my grandparents, who were confused where to be for the ceremony, while we were needed for wedding party photos. She disappeared and I was left to deal with the issue myself. She arrived at our black-tie optional wedding in a bright orange jumpsuit and is in the background of a lot of photos. She interrupted photos later to ask a bridesmaid for pens for our guest book but left without the pens. Small details, but on the day-of these things added to our unease. At 11:59pm, security came in to alert the band that they needed to wrap up and my husband and I were unable to find Nicole or her assistant. The music stopped, and it was up to us to take the lead and direct all our guests out of the venue. It was pretty uncomfortable for everyone. After about 30 minutes of checking in with our vendors and doing a thorough sweep of the venue, Nicole and her assistant showed up with our personal belongings. We would have liked to leave the venue with our guests and leave the vendor coordination to her. Instead, we were the last guests to leave the building after our long wedding day, almost an hour after the party ended. Nicole managed the load-in of our venue and went out of her way to help us pick up our cake when it could not be delivered. She and her assistant moved all of our décor and remaining alcohol back to our hotel room at the end of the night, above and beyond what we expected. She met all of our feedback with grace and positivity. With more attention to detail and support during the full, contracted 4 weeks before our wedding, many of the frustrations could have been avoided, and would have made us feel more at ease on the wedding day.
