Sarah was so accommodating and easy to work with--she dropped the cake off at the assisted living facility where my grandma lives and the cake was a huge hit! My grandmother loved the flavor of the cake and said the decorations on top were lovely. Note: smash cakes are usually for first birthday parties so the kiddo can destroy a cake and everyone else gets to actually eat cake, but they're also the perfect size to give to a person who lives alone! I don't think my grandma understands what smash cakes are, but she certainly wasn't aware that was the original intent of her cake--chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and salted caramel buttercream. I've been hearing about it every single time I talk to her. Next time we need a special dessert for a family event, I'm recommending Flour Girl. I've been telling my family who live in DC about it!

The cake was assembled at the venue and visibly leaning, resembling the Leaning Tower of Pisa - and not in a charming or intentional way. Multiple other vendors at the event expressed serious concerns that the cake was structurally unsound and likely to fall. Even the owner, Brittany, acknowledged the lean herself. Her solution? She inserted a single plastic dowel visibly sticking out of the cake, as if that would somehow fix the issue. She left the venue knowing it was unstable, took the check, and walked away without a care. Unsurprisingly, shortly after her departure, the cake collapsed. It had to be caught on sheet pans to prevent a complete disaster. What makes this experience even worse is that when we tried to contact her afterward, she showed zero accountability, offered no apology, no refund, and was completely heartless during every conversation. When we attempted to engage publicly, she turned off commenting on a Facebook post about assembling our cake, as well as blocked my husband and I, effectively silencing us and dodging any public responsibility. Her attitude and actions speak volumes--not just about her lack of professionalism, but about the type of business she's running. A wedding vendor should be someone you can trust. Brittany proved to be the exact opposite. Her character is the worst kind of disappointment, and I would never recommend Cake'd It to anyone for any event, let alone a wedding. I was looking to buy a cake for my friends wedding, as her wedding present (to save her money and…read moregive her something meaningful). I contacted Cake Anatomy LLC even after the bride had gone into the showroom herself and was treating poorly by the baker. I was hoping perhaps she was just having a bad day... Unfortunately, her request for a simple cake for two months out was /denied/ because it would be "unprofessional" to create a plain white cake and reflect poorly on their business. This was after we had exchanged several emails going so far as to set up a tasting (at which the baker would not allow the bride to make a request since she has dietary restrictions. A member of her bridal party has a severe allergy to chocolate, so she couldn't just taste anything and leave it to chance). Suddenly, she refused to help us out because our specifications were not in her repertoire. Her website is poorly worded, when she uses terms like "to include" or "one of our specialties" she really means that that's all she does. I have heard her cakes are delicious via other reviews online, so if you are looking to have her make your wedding cake, I hope your request fits into her guidelines, otherwise you will be unprofessionally a brusquely declined.
