I had a feeling that there would be a lot of things that would catch my eye and I was right, but we were good and stayed on mission. A friend was having a Halloween party and I wanted to bring an on-theme food item. World Market had the coolest pumpkin shaped noodles, so I made macaroni salad. The noodles were flavored and multicolored and the macaroni salad seemed to be a hit. We also could not resist these weird spongy blue sour egg shaped candies because Jeremy loves blue Raspberry anything. He's been trying to get me to try one ever since because it's a texture sensation, but not necessarily in a good way. But we love to share experiences and make fun of the bad ones, so I may relent at some point. We signed up for their loyalty program and received an instant discount. And there's already a coupon waiting for me in my email box. That'll come in handy when we return to buy a bunch of unusual international snacks for Jeremy's little brother's upcoming birthday.

Rodger wasn't the first salesperson to approach us as we walked in but he was the only one who asked us what are needs were and walked us through the many sofa options they had. We saw pretty much every sofa on the floor and with his help narrowed it down to three. He checked the stock to see if what we wanted was available. All three were and now decisions had to be made. Rodger spent the next 30 minutes fielding questions from myself and my niece. Once the decision was made and were checking out. Rodger overhears a thruway comment my niece makes to her friend and then spends the next 20 minutes helping her pick out a bed set. We walked away with a sofa and bed both being delivered within the next 4 days. I cannot recommend Rodger enough. He made the entire process smooth and easy.

DO NOT BUY!! On August 1st 2025 I bought a couch for $2,091.75. The only caveat was the "end" of…read morethe couch was on back order, but it should arrive by October. I said I can live without an armrest for two months, that's fine. At no point in time did the sales person or person scheduling a delivery correct me to let me know by "end" they meant an entire 1/3 of the couch that I was paying in full now. October comes and goes, but by November I have a delivery date for the final 1/3 of my couch I, again, paid for in August. I was getting text messages up to every two hours to confirm my delivery time and even a phone call two days before the Saturday it was to be delivered. On November 21st they called once again to tell me the couch was not there and I would need to get a refund for the whole thing. I called a second man the following Monday who said they would pick it up, refund the delivery charges and that would be that. Today I call to inquire about the refund, but instead am told to call an 877 number. They've filed chapter 11 on November 22, and now I will need to process through an entirely different system to get my money back. At no point in time were they honest in the sale or return of the couch that I no longer have but they certainly still have my money.

I haven't been to IKEA in awhile, but it's always fun. It's a good place to get ideas. My partner…read morecame to pick up a few additional pieces for her closet, but we did the whole tour anyway. But, some things have changed! She couldn't just go to the aisle and pick up her item. When she looked it up on the kiosk she was confused, but an associate came to the rescue. That's how we found out that certain things have to be ordered & paid for right at the kiosk, then picked up at another area. What? Sometimes change is good except for the fact that we had to wait almost 40 minutes for them to bring her items. Ugh! This change is not good. And, while we were shopping, I wanted my usual Swedish meatballs. How about, they don't even provide real plates anymore! Booooooo! Your food is served on a paper plate. That's SO not the same. And instead of peas, which is how the dish is supposed to be served, I was given some yellow looking green beans. What the helly?! AND, even the drinks were served in paper cups. Wow, such a downer. I don't know if it was the presentation or the actual food, but my meatballs didn't taste the same. The thrill is gone. I guess this was my last time opting for my mandatory trip to the kitchen. Even now, as I type and compare pictures from this most recent trip to previous trips, I can definitely see the difference. I wonder if this is happening at ALL IKEA's or just this one. It's not a good look. So, yes, IKEA is always fun. I picked up the French press I've been needing for awhile at a great price. I can always find the few gadgets I need and generally leave with something. But my trip to the food area is over. So sad.
