The transformation of our home from outdated roof and siding to modern materials is amazing. Renowned discovered that there was no insulation and no wood between our old siding and attic. They discussed the need for additional materials with us prior to incurring extra expense. Their due diligence will save us a fortune in energy bills in the winters to come. Staff was cordial and did a great job cleaning the site following the completion of the work. We found that many items such as permits and ancillary materials were included in the cost of the estimate where other companies we contacted wanted to charge extra. Renowned Building Solutions(Employee: Daniel Brennan) came to our house promising a free roof and to schmooze the adjuster into giving us as much money as possible. They wanted me to sign a piece of paper saying that they are entitled to the work, and thus the insurance money, if our claim is approved. I refused to sign the sheet of paper, but allowed them to work with the insurance company to set up a claim and have an adjuster come out. They were very pushy about me signing the paper and both my wife and I refused to do so. So we've had the adjuster out and our claim was approved, but we decided we didn't really like the way they had done business, and they still hadn't offered up an estimate, so we decided to not go with them and shop around for some roofers. We stopped answering their calls. The guys manager has called my wife a couple times and she didn't answer because she is out of town on business. He shows up at my house last night with the contingency agreement I refused to sign, except there is a signature on the line. I was caught off guard but immediately called out the obvious forgery. He said the guy who I worked with had already been removed from a sales position and would likely be fired, but STILL TRIED TO DO A SALES PITCH ON ME! I couldn't believe it, I was so baffled. When I mentioned I didn't think I wanted to do business with the company because of the forgery, he asked "is there a problem here?". Yes there is a problem here FFS! He then tried to pitch the sale AGAIN! Mind you I was in the middle of cooking my anniversary dinner for my wife and he still wouldn't leave me alone. Finally I told him to go away and not come back. The way that he kept up the sales pitch after showing me the forged document and acknowledging that it was likely a forgery was suspicious at best, and I don't believe that he was 100% unaware of this being a forgery considering the lack of surprise and his calm demeanor when I told him it was a forgery. read more

But the clean up was excellent!!! I was worried about having to go around and pick up nails and scrap after they were done, but they did it all! Absolutely WONDERFUL! I was recommended to Renowned by a friend. They were fantastic! The owner came out and sat down with my wife and myself. He went over the legal jargan and then explained everything to me in the simplest of terms, so easy to understand! Things can get confusing and misconstrued when all this insurance stuff is involved, and they made it super simple for me to understand! I didn't have to touch a button, all I had to do was pick a roof color and wait! Steve (owner) had his crew come out and finished our roof in ONE DAY! When I got home, I had to stop and look at my house from the corner and admire how good a new roof really makes the house look! I am very pleased! Steve even offered to patch my siding and trim around the roof as an extra to keep me happy. Super clean and the color match is very good! These guys want to see their customers happy! And they are with you every step of the way. If someone were to ask me to describe the relationship I had with these guys, its like your Brother or Dad coming out and helping you out with a home repair. Update....Do your due diligence when hiring a roofing contractor!!!! Don't underestimate the amount of work it takes to find a reputable contractor. Read reviews, talk to people, and do your homework. We took the easy way and contacted Renowned Building Solutions and Daniel Pieplow last year (2019). Daniel came out to the house. He even contacted the insurance company. Daniel put in writing "Hail Damage" on the paperwork. When the adjuster came, somehow Daniel had a lapse in memory and agreed with the adjuster there was NO hail damage. What? How do we go from hail damage to NO hail damage? It doesn't work that way. Long story short, after filing another claim this year (I'm sure that didn't help my rates, but we knew we had hail damage) and finding a reputable contractor (took a few tries) with great reviews and recommendations from customers (actually reached out to them), the claim was APPROVED!! What finally sealed the deal? An outstanding and knowledgeable contractor that spent 90 minutes with the Engineer on the roof. The contractor arrived ahead of time and took chalk and drew out specific areas with damage along with calculations. Sorry, I don't know what the numbers meant on the roof as it was roof/hail talk. By the way, my insurance carrier initially came back after this inspection with a decline. Reason, the hail damage wasn't from the 2020 storm. It was from the 2019 storms that Renowned Building Solutions was supposed to handle. We don't know how they know what storm. Had Daniel known what he was doing, this certainly would have been less headache and heartache. This is what happens when you attempt to hire a shotty contractor. Yes, dealing with insurance claims is a pain in the you know what. But, most importantly, find the RIGHT CONTRACTOR. Renowned Building Solutions is NOT the right contractor. We can tell you now there is a BIG difference between a GREAT roofing contractor and a LOUSY roofing contractor like Renowned. Do your homework; Renowned Building Solutions doesn't know what they are doing as evidenced by the inept work from their employee. Be careful folks as you have lots of people going door to door and sending postcards. Roofs are a big deal and can create havoc if not done right. Say NO to Renowned Building Solutions. read more

Following a truly epic hail storm in North Aurora/Batavia, a representative from Renowned Building Solutions came to our door, offered to do a free inspection, and I agreed. Keep in mind we had our roof done less than three years ago by a roofing company referred to us by friends. The person from Renowned told us: 1) The shingles we were given were the lowest grade, cheapest shingles on the market, 2) We had no flashing (yikes!) and 3) there was significant hail damage to our box vents, shingles and gutters. This created a lot of anxiety for us, so we contacted our insurance agent, who sent out a rep from another roofing company they use regularly. Turns out, we have flashing. The existing shingles are the highest grade available (what we paid for) and there's definitely hail damage but not to the extent Renowned described. We can only assume the photos of damage, used by the Renowned rep, were actually from someone else's home. If you are LYING to get business, how do you expect to STAY IN BUSINESS? Do you think people like us won't share these experiences online? You're not only deceitful but ignorant. STAY AWAY! read more

I have recently had work completed by Renowned and they did a great job! They called and updated me on every step of the process and were willing to work with me for anything. The guys who did all of the work were very professional and worked hard to get the roof and siding done quickly. I even had some issues with getting add-ons covered by my insurance company so they came out and took pictures and explained why they were needed, in which my insurance company then approved them. We had a great experience with Renowned Building Solutions. We bought our house last year and had two hailstorms right after we moved in. We had damage to both our roof and siding from the storm. Our insurance carrier approved fixing the siding and a new roof. Unfortunately, this is where our problems began. We had multiple roofing companies come out to give us a quote on a new roof. Many of them did not follow-up afterwards. We put up an add on thumbtack and Steve, the owner of Renowned Building Solutions came out to give us a quote. Steve was the first person that was willing to work with us on our deductible. The thing I liked most about working with Steve is he was honest from the beginning. Steve worked out a great solution with the insurance company. He took a sample of our siding and tried to match it, but was unable to. This was great news for us as we were able to get all new siding on our house as well. None of the other companies I dealt with even mentioned this. Those companies ended up losing out in the long run because they missed out on a full siding job as well as a new roof. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the new siding and roof. Steve helped us pick a color palette of grays and blacks and the house looks like the best on the block now! One other thing I'd like to hit on too is customer service. In any business, things happen that you can't plan for. To me, the most important thing is how a business responds to these events afterwards. Outstanding customer service is what separates good businesses from great ones. We had a couple of screens damaged during the installation of the siding. Steve had someone out there right away replacing all the damaged screens. This week we had a bad windstorm and had some of our shingles pop up. Steve had someone out there the next day replacing them and inspecting the roof. These are the types of things that keep me coming back to a business. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Renowned Building Solutions to anyone in a similar situation. No BS to deal with and outstanding, hands on, customer service! read more
