Yeah, its ok. I mean there are plenty of reasons to like this place, which include rare and import video games, which any nerd loves. But this place is run by fruits. Its just not as great as you would like it to be. Its a bit overpriced, over-hyped, and overwhelmed. Its not like there are a bunch of these places in SF, Portland, or Seattle (there are none currently, other then pink godzilla). It's just that it could be better. I stopped going after a while as it had stagnat inventory and every one who worked there tried to sell me on games i didnt like. So I dont like Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, let me be. Pink Godzilla almost sounds like a kinky sex toy, but sorry to all you freaky deaky types, it is a nerd-o-rama fest in there with all their video games and toys related to old school to new school games. They had some cute lanyards for your keys that I wanted, but I was trying to be good with the funds. I really wanted to pick up the cute poster with the "Pink Godzilla" mascot on it for my apt, but it was gonna be tricky not bending it on the flight home from Seattle. This place is like a black market for old school gamers. I mean, really, if you want the latest Xbox 360 game, this is likely going to be a waste of your time. Go to Gamestop or EBGames or amazon.com for those. However, if you're old school (SEGA DREAMCAST, BABY!) and you are suddenly absolutely positively desperate to find Shenmue, this is going to be your hook up. All those games (the ones you can't find in generic gameshops) are belong to Pink Godzilla. Added bonus - lots of imports (because having Shenmu is one thing, but having the Japanese version is an entirely different kettle of fish) and when I went last year the day after Christmas, I got a Pink Godzilla sticker and a little free keychain. I have a problem. I love importing games. I hate waiting for shipping. I used to go to Kicks in Northgate, but now that I live in Redmond the trek is out of my reach. Luckily for me, Pink Godzilla exists just a 545 away from my apartment. From the cute happy pink logo to the chaotic-but-awesome storefront, I can generally find whatever imported game is currently tickling my fancy, without the shipping delays I'd have to suffer ordering through the intrawebz.... It all seems so long ago and was short lived. It has some rare Japanese games as well as a lot of old games, classics and some I've never heard of. Pretty rad store and chain. This specific location has an OK selection with some solid prices, especially on NES. They have a pretty good stock of imports, too. This location, however, doesn't have as much of a selection as their U-District one. Generally good people that work here...usually friendly. And they'll cut you some sweet deals depending on how much you buy. But I have spoken with a few employees over the years that haven't been the most approachable. Trade in offers are fair. Product quality is pretty standard too. They'll clean up occasionally bad games that they get in, but not all of the product is in great shape. They're a solid retro store. Nothing too exciting, in terms of product, in here unless you pop in after a major local trade show. But I rarely leave feeling disappointed whenever I do buy something. :-) read more

My friends and I have been going to Pink Gorilla since it opened (back when it was okay to call it Pink G*dzilla). At first, it was like a wonderful gamers dream! But after a while, it gets a little stale, but maybe it's because I can never afford anything in there, haha. It's not to say this place is overpriced. They GRADE their games here, meaning they test them, make sure they are of good quality, and worth your money. Sure, they are a bit "eBay" priced, but would you rather know you're buying a quality game, than buying one online knowing it doesn't work? And a lot of what they sell in this store is RARE, meaning you can't easily get some of the things in here. Expensive yes. For a reason, absolutely. BUT, there are some items you CAN find for cheaper online, just do your research and KNOW what you're buying before you do. Imports are also expensive, true. Kudos if you can find it cheaper online, but you also have to pay shipping and wait weeks for it to arrive, when you can just stop by and get your fix. I like all their little toys and stuffed plushies, but I wish there were a bit better selection. It seems they like to stock up on a lot of the same items. Not that I don't like Nintendo and Mario, but there are other game plushies and toys out there too! They don't sell old games or imports at Game Stop, and stores like it. And you can pre-order imports too! And they're not going to MAKE you pre-order something, pestering you about it. It's pretty chill in there. Either way, if you're an old school gamer, or you're into imports and specialty toys, this is a great place to go. read more

It look as though whoever was pricing was drunk I must say, some of the help have got to be fastfood rejects cuz they sure have no people skills. the mannerisms of the worker that was working when i visited ruined the whole experience. even with someone who was older who was asking a question ahead of, he didn't seem to be really listening. as someone who has a lot of anxiety when having some sort of social interaction, its hard for me to speak up. when it was my turn to ask for help, he didn't really understand what i asked but this workers mannerism was so off putting. he blurts out "huh?" in a loud tone instead of politely asking what i said. that is not how ANYONE wants to be responded to with. why is this worker working in customer service if they do not have a nice attitude? as i'm trying to ask something else, he cuts me off and says "i can't understand what you're saying" in a harsh and aggressive tone. this person obviously does not seem to like their job as he had been consistently rude and unwelcoming to customer from what i had saw. i understand that we don't get jobs we like, i have been there, but we still have to fake it till we make it. i really wish i didn't have this bad experience because i actually liked what they had in store. read more

Pink Gorilla (we all know it is really Pink Godzilla) is a gamer staple here. The single best independent brick and mortar game store in Seattle, Pink offers a wide variety of old school games in old school formats. Moreover, this is the place to go to pick up an old NES or SNES import. And of course a big part of what makes this store awesome is the feel... literally the place is covered in cotton candy pink shag. The store sure does get tightly packed with patrons buying games, video game related merch, or the classic pink Gorilla (Godzilla) plushy. In fact, Pink Gorilla (Godzilla) is what I imagine it would be like to live within a Geeky Muppet. Pink Gorilla is a haven for the retro/ import game fan. You will find a wide variety of games, consoles, accessories and toys. What really stuck with me about this place is the long lost feeling of finding something rare and new when you go in. It's the feeling I used to get when Funcoland and EB Games fist opened back in the 90's....back when a 3D 64 bit Mario was just a rumor. You will undoubtedly find something that will make you regret selling your Dreamcast and Game Gear. Whether you are looking for the latest DS import or the rare International Edition of FF7, you have a good shot at finding it here. A big part of the store is selling used items, which means a rotating stock on things like controllers and consoles, so it's worth multiple visits to see what pops up. This is a great place to wander around in and I highly recommend it on your trip to the ID. It's refreshing to get away from the stale, corporate environment of Gamestop. read more

Games can be a bit more expensive than you can get them. It defeats the purpose of this store for some people, when a rare game can be purchased online cheaper with shipping. Now the workers here are pretty knowledgeable. When my cousin and I entered the store alone one of the cashiers passed the time by cooking up a conversation with us. It morphed into the very famous Taidus/Teedus conversation. Then again, there's something that really bugs many people. A different cashier once engaged in a somewhat long conversation with one of her friends. A pretty simple no-no from me as there were people in line. It's happened more than once, but I'm still happy when I leave this place. read more

i love this place for rare and/or imported video games. they try really hard to keep their rates competitive. for example, powerstone 2 for the dreamcast was 35. if u check amazon right now, its anywhere from 25-125, and i am burnout trying the cheapest price on amazon and weeks later returning a broken dead game for a refund. this brings mee to my second point: they have most of the systems in the store, so you can test the quality of the games youre about to purchase. they also have video game sound tracks if youre into that (as i am - u can get SO much work done if u listen to a metal gear solid/megaman OST at work...). in short, this is a great store that has a nostalgic feel of buying video games back in the day, but its better cuz its from a independent store with a cool mascot. i visit here whenever i can. tip: wear your pink gorilla/godzilla apparel for a discount. read more

Pink Gorilla is among the few retro gaming-focused stores in the Seattle area - but it's not a very good one. For some history - I used to be the biggest fan of Pink Gorilla you could imagine. I started its Wikipedia page; I generally stopped by the University District location every month - for a while I stopped in twice a week. I tried to stay updated on the store's selection and grab interesting titles when they first appeared. This all transpired as I got into video game collecting and developed what used to be a casual hobby into a dedicated pursuit. The store has changed, though, and some of the experiences I've had have negatively impacted my view of this store. First off, the staff are not very friendly. I've found this to be true at most of the Pink Gorilla locations. They won't make much of an effort to talk to you or get to know you. This makes a huge difference to someone like me who really cares about video games and wants to have interesting discussions about them. I would like for there to be a convivial spirit, but I end up feeling like an unwelcome stranger walking in their territory. I had hoped they would approach a frequent customer with more excitement, or at least respect. The selection of games is decent, but it used to be much better. When I first visited the store in the summer of 2012, they had a wide-ranging selection of titles from across different platforms; if you wanted something it was generally easy to find. But as they have opened more locations around the Seattle area I've felt the selection diminish in breadth and variety. Now much of what you see is sports games fro $2 or $3 per cartridge. From time to time a Zelda or Pokemon title will come in but someone will tend to snatch it up quickly. But, most problematically, I had a very unfortunate mixup at the University District location (see the review on that page for more information). Although the owner made the effort to improve the situation, the salespeople are still quite difficult to deal with. I'm left with a dirty taste in my mouth. I don't feel like supporting the salespeople who provide such shoddy service. I don't feel like they care. I figure I've spent at least a thousand dollars across the different Pink Gorilla locations, and yet none of the staff people remember my name, nor try even to be friendly with me. Came into day to pick up a PSOne Memory card so I can finally finish playing Chrono Cross. They have a great selection and the fella working there was a real sweetheart, I would return to the ID location just to be served by him again. Sometime as a woman who doesn't appear to be "the gaming" type I've been treated coldly but not here. All I will say is that I had trouble finding it, it's on the entrance ON sixth. Make sure you have the right one or you'll end up wandering aimlessly through the office side of the building. read more

A video game nerd's dream! Despite the high prices (and they won't budge, even when you have a competing store on the phone selling the same item for less), this is truly a gem of a store. They have some of the rarest games you can find this side of eBay, including some games selling for upwards of $500. Of course, this is a massive markup and you'd be much better off just getting them on the internet, but for the sheer "video game museum"-like quality, I recommend it. The walls and ceilings are covered (every square inch) with games, game memorabilia and videogame-related merchandise. Oh, and they also sell Hi-Chew. read more

Their selection's prices are balanced against the internet (as are all places these days), which means no deals or unique price points. Some stuff is way over-the-top. All the games are hanging on the walls, but they are upside down or sideways, making reading through them a very taxing experience. The guy at the counter was also kind of a skateboarder bro. I asked him how much something cost (way too much) and when I was like "no thanks" he basically ignored me from then on out. I had planned on buying a game, but not after that. They do have loads of import carts and discs, even some for the Dreamcast. And overall, it's kind of fun to go into and look in the display cases. read more

Absolutely fantastic store. Wall to wall games from systems I hadn't seen since my childhood. Came here to sell a few consoles in anticipation of the PS4/XBONE launch, customer service was excellent. I would much rather visit this place again than go to Nintedo/MS HQ. The place is so drenched in video gaming, it's definitely worth the visit.
